As much as free would be ideal, it would make more sense to offer a "deep discount" on RU-vid premium. Offering the family plan for the same price as individual.
I've been a premium user for a few years. I find YT almost unwatchable without premium. I love your analogy about buy back your time. Time is more precious than some people think.

Its worth it for RU-vid music alone. With prime video i get amazon music and cant even play 2 different songs on two different devices!! My wife and I love yourube music.
I'm pissed that advertisers have gotten around our paid "ad free" premium status by paying creators to SPEAK their ads in their videos!! 🤬🤬🤬 This totally infuriates me.
It's free on many apps other than RU-vid. I hate seeing these comments and seeing how many people are throwing their money away because they don't know about blockers.
I got RU-vid premium almost immediately after watching this video and I love it! I get so annoyed with ads, especially when I'm just trying to listen to music and I'm driving having to fumble for my phone to hit the skip button for not 1 but 2 ads! Such a relief! I watch yt more than cable and the subscription price is well worth it to me to avoid the commercials. After you include the free movies, which are getting better every month, it's just icing on the cake. Best value out there in my opinion.
Yup. I signed up for YT Premium about 4 years ago. I watch a lot of RU-vid, so the ad free price is definitely worth it for me. This a great video laying out the total cost for multiple streaming services. Thumbs up Darren!
Did you has a setting to remove Sponsors too so you skipped the bulit-in not ads as a sponsor which is under the name LOOPHOLE they got it You paid for our plan Right Now you cut half the loading times to watch Sponsored video which still shows up in your list making it a ( AD FREE - Not sponsored free ) their own search says AD is also under Sponsors as a ad too
I'm glad you did this video. I've been on RU-vid since it was "Red". I love it. I work at my computer all day and watch videos, sometimes music while I work. I'm also a Spotify Premium user. It's well worth the price!
The power of Downloads + Screen Off play... AMAZING. I will download whole playlists of video essays, and just listen to them on commutes or walks. I've done it with your videos (which seems weird given you're suggesting video items a lot but you describe well so the lack of visuals aren'tthat detracting)
I've had RU-vid Premium for about 5 years now and I would never let it go. Right now it's $13.99 a month and that comes to 47 cents a day. I also get all of my music from RU-vid also and the sheer amount of music available is just outstanding, whether if it's from the early days of rock right up to today. Even household pets and domestic farm animals know what a great deal it is. And having Darren let us know all the great stuff going out and where you can find it. It can't be beat.
A great deal that can't be beat? Sure it can! You're paying by the month, meaning you spend 20% more a year compared to buying an annual subscription instead.
YT used to be awesome before adpocalypse. I HATE how they have done their creators over the years. Firefox with a blocker works just fine. I will NEVER give them any money. My favorite channels used to be firearms related. What do you think they did to those guys? They took away their money. I have seen so many creators fall at this point because of YT that I kind of wish they would fail. Eff Apple and Google, if you ask me.
I got it when it was called youtube red because it was the only way you could watch Cobra Kai at the time. I kept it because of my 3-8 hour ambience videos that really really need to be ad free. No ads is awesome and there are other benefits.
I have been a subscriber to premium for a couple of years. I’ve never ever regretted buying it. I don’t have cable tv so it’s my go to entertainment source for casual viewing. Edit: I also subscribe to the family plan. My wife and I have vastly different interests and I don’t want a load of sewing machine videos in my recommendations, so it’s really useful.
I got youtube premium way back when for free when i bought my last new phone and after a couple years the free deal ended, but i could not go back to watching ads. The only downside is youtube music leaves some room for improvement. The radio feature was a great way for me to find similar songs and artist based on a certain song, artist, or album i was getting into, back on Google play... but my God the algorithm on yt music's radio feature is laughable most of the time and sometimes it would play the last 10 songs you listened to regardless of the artist you select and often just throw oddballs into the queue for no reason. Recently i had a radio playing for seether and put of nowhere it threw in a sturgill simpson song. It also loves to throw Clutch into any tangentially related rock Playlist. I like Clutch but i wouldn't sort them into the same box as something like korn

does RU-vid have enough CONTENT to justify what is actually a HIGH price... if you have Netflix, Hulu, Disney, and now YT Premium.. youre looking at $75 a mos, not including your internet service, which typically is $50.. $125/150 a mos ???$1800 a year ?? sorry.. i can live with ads... good LORD has NO ONE grown up on :"Regular TV" ?? we have to have "instant" access" everywhere ?? microwave our time ?? no, sorry, its not worth it, unless its Maybe your ONLY service youre paying for.. then.. maybe.. Just having the RU-vid Music is worth the price , Whole albums,Any Artist I've been able to think of. Spotify ( for me rocking an old phone Android 10 OS) doesn't work well, the app is buggy A.F. ,Rogans podcast won't play unless I open the app, won't play even tho I'm tapping the play button, wrong episode numbers it's jank! But I'm using out of date tech, RU-vid music doesn't dick me around tho.... just saying
I became a full time RU-vid Premium user since Covid confinement and I am subscribed to more than 250 channels, most of them with premium quality information I don't find anywhere (this one included). Don't have to say that this literally changed my life as a user. There are some features in the RU-vid Music App I do not like but I really don't care. AWESOME AD FREE LIFE!
RU-vid music is not why I started paying for premium, but once I had it, I stopped Amazon music and switched. RU-vid music also has more options, because you can add regular RU-vid videos (such as a live performance) to your RU-vid music playlist.
I had youtube music for one month and realized could nix commercials for another $3...absolutely worth it. Love the annual recaps for toutube music as well
I watch allot of various video content on regular You Tube during the day, so I do have the premium account. I do You Tube more than Streaming services. My setup I have a PC laptop with HDMI. I then connect my Laptop to my large LCD Display via the HDMI cable. Then have a wireless keyboard/mouse to control my You Tube viewing. Yes it does knock out the Ads, but also now finding content creators are imbedding their ads within the videos themselves. Kind of annoying, but I quickly skip over them to get to the main topic of the video. I am glad most of these they just do one imbedded Ad. Premium is great for me when watching You Tube movies and not have annoying Ads pop up all the time. I can sit back and enjoy the entire movie. All in All, I like the premium You Tube services. There are soo many adds on RU-vid now, that it's almost unwatchable. You can't even watch a 3minute clip without it being broken by adds. Is it worth paying the extra for no adds ...... no, because more and more content makers are combining paid sponsor adds in their content.
I tried it for a month and decided it's not worth it for a couple reasons. Big one is I have alt accounts for gaming and my woodworking hobby, respectively, and my connected accounts don't also get premium. Other reason is I can skip the majority of ads. Although admittedly, the loud, annoying ones are terrible with headphones in or when I'm watching something quiet that suddenly cuts to a really high volume ad.
Not worth it. Subscriptions are out of control making the poor poorer. In last 5 years I'm seeing more and more commercials forcing ur hand to premium. I can't afford it. So it's guna cause people to leave RU-vid. I support leaving it. It's getting out of hand with bills and subscription prices
I don't mind the skip-able six second ads, but now many are 15 or 30 seconds and are not skip-able. It's really getting annoying, especially when the ads behave differently on my computer and TV. I think I'll give the premium free trial a try.
( ADS and Sponsors made their site more pay to view than free to view ) I type their own search Sponsor and shown up under the word ( AD or advertising )
Ads will eventually come, just a lot less, at first. Just look at cable TV, satellite radio, etc. I also don’t like how they crap on creators they don’t like, unsubbing people, shadow banning, and demonetizing channels while still running ads to their (RU-vid) benefit only.
worth it just for no ads. this is a great sub i was watching this just to learn if content creators get snubbed when i don't have to view their ads. i might have missed it but i didn't hear anything about that here
Outside of a few stints due to personal circumstances, I’ve had RU-vid Premium the majority of the time ever since it came out in 2014 as RU-vid Red. The ad-free service is so huge especially since I’ve seen it for myself how badly the ads have gotten over the years. In 2014, they weren’t that bad. In 2018, I was surprised with how much more often they were but felt moderate to me. Then in 2023, my goodness was it awful seeing how often ads showed up in the middle of videos. My one knock on the service is that there’s no option for an annual plan or if there is, you can’t have it selected from Apple which is what I do through my Apple account. If they could make that widely available, I would be all on board for a yearly subscription. I personally like to choose anything yearly because it does save money although you have one massive hit you have to take but you don’t have to worry about paying anything until the following year so it clears things up.
I started on RU-vid red or whatever it was in like 2013-2014. I have never seen a single ad. Same account since maybe 2009. I have a few beta features I’ve been trying .My favorite one is the ability to create a cue , or you can click the dots on a thumbnail and choose play next, or play last. I just add 10-15 then refresh and pick more. It’s amazing
I subscribe to premium just so I don't have to sit through a ton of commercials that constantly rotate through. The absence of commercials is worth the extra cost for me!
Not sure how many people know about it but you can get the Family subscription for RU-vid premium and you can share it with 5 people. I've paid 6 dollars for a year full subscription!! (In my country*)
You forgot to mention a yearly price of $130.00 which is a decent savings over monthly. Just got RU-vid premium for the yearly price and really like it as well as really liking the music.
I've used RU-vid premium for years, and I love not getting constant ads. I don't have RU-vid cable, though, because I dislike the concept of paying for channels that I don't use. If there is ever a service that allows one to pick and choose which cable stations one wants (and doesn't want) to watch, I may reconsider.
I listen to a lot of podcasts and being able to download them on my devices and watch them at work is great. Plus sometimes I just need the audio of the podcast so turning off the screen while the video is still playing is so convenient.

Interesting, i have had Premium since the RED days and never realised so many of these app features were Premium only. I initially subscribed mainly for the music as the algorithm was so much better and getting ‘my’ music right than the others. Then i got drawn in to the video side as it was so seamless and enjoyable to watch ad free. Love it.
I'm in Hawaii right now hiking and I pay for RU-vid premium just so I can download videos and watch them in my tent I don't always spend my time in the world, but I can bring the world to me
HELL YAAAAAA, I am on RU-vid Premium for almost a 4 years now, I usually pay it annually, only a thing is not automatically renewed, you have to renewed it every year, They let you know when, You also get free RU-vid music with it with podcasts and all LOOVE it , ..after all LOOOOVIN ITTT, never go back to the old RU-vid with ad, HELL F*n NAH, Even I have a RU-vid TV since 2017, get the Chromecast TV dongle for your TVs too ,then You're all set works GREAT all together.. all my streaming services is without ads such as I have all of them F*** ads 👍🤘👌🙏🤙
It’s to crazy without paying for premium. U want to try a video, get hit with an add, a minute in get hit again with an add. Decide you don’t want to watch the video , start another, more adds. You end up watching more adds than the videos…..
