Had lots of discussions with various believers as we somehow couldn’t accept that Yeshua was G-d because over 5000 times Hashem says He is One and none other in Tanakh, but New Testament contradicts…. Always prayed that the truth be revealed to us and around 45 days ago Hashem led me to Rabbi Tovias teaching, since than have been watching all his teachings and the other Jewish rabbis too…..

Moses only gave the Torah and the 613 commandments as an inheritance to Israel, as Deuteronomy 33:4 states: 'The Torah... is the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob,' and to all those who desire to convert from among the other nations, as Numbers 15:15 states 'the convert shall be the same as you.' It is explained in Tractate Sanhedrin 56b that all of the Noahide Commandments can be exegetically derived from Genesis 2:16, "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ...," which was stated to Adam in the Garden of Eden on the day of his creation.

Jews, nor the Gentiles that sojourn with them say the Creator's name, just as He commanded. The Christian OT is a purposely mistranslated version of the Jewish Bible, it's a PERVERSION of the Torah/Tanakh. May I suggest you read the Original Bible online, you can access good English translations on Chabad and Sefaria. You can see how very different they are with just one verse, Isaiah 7:14 in the Original Bible you find Immanuel's mother has already conceived and is pregnant but in the Imitation OT they have turned Immanuel's already pregnant mother into a virgin, quite a bit of a difference. As a secular humanist who studies theology & enjoys engaging in conversations with Christians, I view Rabbi Tovia Singer as one of the most knowledgeable biblical scholars of the current time. I've learned so much from him regarding the many conflicts, contradictions, forgeries, & general inconsistencies of Christianity. I know he isn't a biblical scholar in the academic sense; but I still regard his esteemed expertise similarly to biblical scholars such as Dr. Bart Ehrman, Dr. Elaine Pagels, Dr. Robert Price, Dr. Kipp Davis, Dr. Josh Bowen, Dr. Dennis Macdonald, Dr. Mark Goodacre & I could go on - OBVIOUSLY I don't agree with Tovia's theology, nor do I agree with every belief of the scholars I listed. It's the consensus agreement amongst them all where facts tend to exist & truth can be found.
Most people only just study something or a part of the bible and does not want to deal with other parts that is where you will find interpretations. It says in the book of daniel that the messiah will be cut off and will have nothing among his own people and the rulers of the land will come and destroy the temple. Since that is also a prophecy given by daniel it has to come to pass or not? Since Rabi says like others it has not happend yet so ok it will happen this time when the temple is built the 3rd time?
@Oliver C This prophecy pertained to the 2nd temple. There are 2 messiah's. 1 in verse 25 and 1 in verse 26. Both of which came to fruition neither have to do a Jesus.
@Oliver C And the Hebrew of Daniel 9 has been mistranslated in the Christian English versions. The Hebrew actually better translates that the messiah will be cut off and be no more or have nothing. The term " cut off " doesn't mean death. It's called כרת( karet) and it's a form of punishment for violation of specific Torah law. Karet is not simply the death penalty. The death penalty is carried out by witnesses of a crime and the rest of the townspeople. Molech worship in Leviticus 20:2-5 is an example of a person incurring two penalties: the death penalty and karet( being cut off.)
A lecture on Ezekiel Chapter 1 might be interesting. It relates directly to the Noahide Code. The prohibition against eating flesh taken from a living animal applies only to domesticated mammals, wild mammals and birds. God also did not grant permission to eat human flesh, whether or not it would be removed while the person was alive. These four categories of living beings are represented by the four faces of the hayot angels of the divine chariot: the faces of the ox, lion, eagle and human. Since these angels are elevated to the highest levels of the heavens, we can speculate that God gives an extra honor to their reflections in the physical world through the Torah's universal restrictions on eiver min ha'hai and cannibalism.
The 7 Noahide Laws is not a faith its a set of basic rules any one can do. I do it every day in my daily life. People need structure a family a community a purpose. it what makes us human, If what is said about these future events is true then ever ones religion will be gone and will be left with nothing. There faith stripped from them there religious festivals and holidays stripped even there identity stripped. Replaced with what 7 basic rules we had the 10 commandment in our churches for decades and it did nothing we still went to war. What will -3 do.

To defend Luke in chapter 4: 18 we can go to Isaiah 61: 1 in 1QIsa a:" release from darkness" or alternative: "opening of the eyes." which could mean metaphoric in the way that people would be able to understand the scripture with the spiritual eyes, not that the physical eyes will become healed by a miracle, even that this is described of some people in the gospels. But here in Luke it is more possible that it is about having the eyes open in a spiritual way rather than a physical way. I think it is time to re - interpret the Greek testament from a Tanach-perspective and not from a Christian theological or dogmatic perspective.

The prophet Jeremiah in 32:35 "They [Israel and Judah] built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molek, though I never commanded-nor did it enter my mind-that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin." Almighty found it detestable to sacrifice their children to Molek which was literally casting them into fire. GOD DID NOT ORDAIN THAT. God rebukes the children of old for doing such only to turn on his own word and prepare a punishment as vile as what the religions to Baal and Molech demanded. CHRISTIANITY HAS DISTORTED THE IMAGE OF THE JEWISH GOD. I specifically mention Jewish God because the OT God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are not the God whom Christians worship. By the way, one of the mistranslation of "hell" in the Old KJV is Ben Hinnom. It was a physical dumping site for refuse NOT some subterranean chamber of torture that's fire never died. That is Greco-Roman mythology that has polluted scripture. Read a New KJV and all those texts regarding "hell" have reverted back to their original names because it has conveyed the wrong message.

A focus on the miracles of the New Testament, and quoting Matthew 10, overlooks verses such as Matthew 7:21, that "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." (that is the King James and my simple translation is: Not everyone who calls me Lord, will enter the Kingdom of God, but there must be an effort to do the will of My Father). This would mean, as Rabbi Singer points out, being a light to the World through living the lessons of Hashem. For those looking at lessons of Old & New Testament (and this make be a dwindling group in numerous sects) Matthew 7:21 been interpreted by some to mean aim at the highest Good in everyday life (as Rabbi Singer points out by helping the needy) and is comparable to how Noah, who walked with God, was commanded to build an Ark to carry him through. The Ark, can be looked as as a walk with the Lord - and we each need to build our own with the right materials for the stormy seas of Life. Overall, those reading Hebrew and Christian scripture have a lot more in common than the division and confrontation Rabbi singer seems to get a bit rise out of putting forth. I'm not changing anybody's mind, and there is a never ending ability to critique how the "other" interprets, but pointing out divisions, instead of the invaluable lessons in each that have each lasted thousands of years, is energy that could be better utilized. God wrote the covenant with His finger in accordance with the Torah that the king of Israel was required to write out the Torah in His own handwriting. Abid, I honestly don’t know.. I worship one G-d. I just honestly believe G-d isn’t a man. So my salvation comes from the one that formed me in the womb of my mother. The One that created me and you, also created the heavens and the universe. I worship G-d alone. I believe that the Christian scriptures have been corrupted, but even though we grew up in a Christian faith. I still believe that the Creator can use that religion somehow to bring the Christian world to the Oneness of the Creator.

Even though their articulations are different, these are two alternative expressions of the Explicit Name. One is ineffable. The other is not.

Beyond this prescribed usage one is NOT allowed to pronounce this Name as it is written, thus also known as the ineffable Name. In sacred service, as public Torah readings, it is substituted by the Name Ado-nai. It is only one Name, Y-H-V-H being its spelling and Ado-nai its pronunciation.

Knowing that Moshiach can only be when the Beit HaMikdosh is restored and the nations will recognize HaShem, why is it that so great a sage as Rabbi Akiba could have thought that Bar Kochbah was the Moshiach? Unless this is to be understood as that he was a possible Moshiach, as it is said that a possible Moshiach is born in every generation.?
One of the problems with Christianity is that most Christian Sunday sermons are either solely about the New Testament or are Joel Osteen style sermons that have very little to do with either the New or Old Testament. Most of Joel Osteen’s sermons resemble improved motivational speaker Tony Robbins type lectures on how to be successful in life. Deuteronomy 4:2 basically says not to substitute other Joel Osteen type material for the Old Testament that supports Christianity’s adulterous, idolatrous worship of idols, money & financial success. The reason the Old Testament is so important is that the Old Testament is more or less a history book of the human race. And if you don’t learn from history, you are doomed to repeat the same mistakes you have made in the past. The main problem with the New Testament is that in terms of a history book, it only goes back to the time of JC. The New Testament just doesn’t cover a very long time period. The Old Testament goes back to creation of the universe and covers a much larger time frame. -
The Jewish Bible with a modern English translation and Rashi's commentary is available at the Chabad website. If you are a Gentile, you are obligated to learn the 7 Noahide commandments. This obligatory learning is much more important than learning the Jewish Bible.
Great video, as usual! However, I wonder what is this "Khamsa" picture doing on the background. It is a talisman known in the Muslim world as the Hand of Fatima. (Yes, it is also said that it's the hand of Miriam or the hand of the Mary of christianity). It is supposed to ward off the evil eye. Jews are not supposed to believe in talismans or amulets. Rather, Jews will not be affected by the evil eye if they avoid ostentation and keep a low profile, should they be blessed with wealth, a beautiful family or a social position of high prestige, etc. Khamsa amulets are currently very popular in Judaica stores. They are available for sale in the form of drawings, necklace adornments, keychains, etc. They are sold as lucky charms. It doesn't mean that, according to Judaism, they may be used for warding off the evil eye. I gather that Sephardic communities and some Jewish scholars have adopted or approved the use of Khamsa's, but I believe Jews should "go to the Videotape" and read what the Scriptures say regarding amulets as instruments for effectively combating the evil eye.
""Hamsa" is the Arabic word for five. It is customary for Arabs and Jews from the Middle East to raise their hand (five fingers) for good luck and against (Ayin Hara) an evil eye. In Exodus 17:11, we see that when Moses raised his hand, the Jews were successful in battle against Amalek. Conceivably, this is where it originated. Some have the Hamsa fingers drawn and filled in with Kabbalistic words. This is considered a "Kamaya" (amulet) which is a sort of prayer for good luck. (Code of Jewish Law - Y.D. 179:12) There are some who advise against owning a Hamsa, considering it a superstitious practice of non-Jewish origins. However, many authorities permit it because it is a Jewish symbol as well, and has been in use by Sephardic Jews for many centuries. The "Chida" (R' Chaim Yosef David Azulai), in his travels, found that the religious Jews in Tunisia were using it (late 18th century). Its use is also mentioned in the work Ben Ish Chai (Year 2, Pinchas 13). There is no set text to what prayer is placed on back of the "hand," but usually it is a blessing for peace in the house, or for a successful business. Although your text may be different, here is a sample of what the blessing may say: "Let this house be a beautiful, peaceful abode. Let tranquility, unity, blessings and success abundantly fill each room, with help from the Heavens above. Let there be raised a righteous generation under the shade of this roof, who will fill this house with the sound of Torah. And let the Divine Presence exist in every corner." @@RoseSharon7777 I am well aware of that. I understand he is much appreciated by the Muslim Community of Indonesia. In this video, the Rabbi was on the premises of a Jewish Organization, standing with a Khamsa pictured in the background. Some people believe that the Khamsa is supposed to ward off the evil eye. My comment was about what a Jew should do to avoid the evil eye. According to the Jewish Sages, it is not by carrying any kind of amulet, the Khamsa in this case, but by keeping a low profile and by not showing off his wealth, his high social status or his beautiful family. This is how he will avoid jealousy and ultimately will not attract the evil eye. Amulets don’t do the job.
The Hamsa has become a kind of art, rather than an actual amulet. I dont like this art, but many people do. As for the blessings on it, the same blessings are often written on regular placards (without the hand) that are hung up in a home. I would not get concerned about it. People who learn the Baal Shem Tov's teachings are not afraid of an evil eye because the entire focus is on blessing.
I enjoyed the Rabbi's lecture as usual, and learn a lot from him. However, since he did mention Jesus' name, I'd like to know why it's not possible for a returning Jesus (2nd coming) to fulfill this (Isa 2) prophecy at that time? Is it not possible? Why not? Regarding Rabbi's mention of Matthew 10, in the Clementine Literature, Simon Magus brings up this very passage in his debate with Peter making the point the Rabbi is making. Peter corrects both Simon and the Rabbi and explains the passage. The point I am making, is that the Rabbi does correctly espouse the Christian understanding of that Matthew chapter, but he misses the mark in the Nazarene understanding as taught by Peter (and by default Jesus) in this particular instance.
Another point (and sorry I reply as I listen). The Rabbi commented that the Messiah will not perform miracles (I think I heard that right), and therefore since Jesus performed miracles, he can't be the Messiah (hopefully I understood him correctly). Just because Jesus performed miracles, that doesn't disqualify him from being the Messiah, why? Because Jesus as a Prophet performed miracles (in fact, in the Clementine Literature, Peter calls Jesus "The True Prophet" more than he calls him the Messiah). Jesus as a Prophet performed miracles as any other God commissioned Prophet had, but what makes Jesus different than them, he is both, the True Prophet and the Messiah at the same time (Messiah ben Joseph 1st Coming/Messiah ben David 2nd Coming). He performed miracles in his religious office as a Prophet and he will perform actions in his civil office as the Messiah. There is no need to mention his miracles in his role as the Messiah, and only a need to mention his miracles in his role as a Prophet of God espousing Judaism. IMHO.

Of course, this is by design, in other words. In the Clementine Literature, Peter (a Jew), relates the story of the Temptation of Jesus by Satan, and Jesus passing the test. Satan resolved to corrupt the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles by sending apostles of his own to subvert Jesus' teachings. This corruption became Pauline Christianity ( a blend of Judaism, Mithraism, Gnosticism), and not the Nazarene Judaism that Jesus practiced and preached. The Nazarene Jesus was born of Mary and Joseph and was fully human, not born of a virgin (but a young woman of marrying age). He is not God, but he is God in representation (see the Jewish Law of Agency). Just as God made Moses a god to Pharoah, God made Jesus a god to mankind. I always had a problem with Jesus in the church I asked where is the real Yeshua. I knew I had to leave the church in 1998 I left. But my practice was to read the old and new testament thru every year. But in 2011 I could no longer read the new testament. The Bible, the Torah/Tanakh is a Jewish text, written in Hebrew, the Jews KNOW what their Scripture says, just as the Jews KNOW what their Scripture means, they are GD'S LIGHT TO THE NATIONS, NOT the Heathen Nations to the Jews. As Jeremiah prophesied, the Gentiles will come to see that they have inherited only lies, all in Gd's timing.
