I have the Screen Record function figured out now on this Iphone 13 Pro Max. Who knew it was native in the iPhone? Just buried among hundreds of options. Thanks audience for the comments and allowing me to learn something today.
Ok, I just checked and 20 of these ESC's were bought using our links and now they're out of stock. Hope they can refill inventory soon. Thank you all who purchased and let us know how it works out.
I really wanted one for my ZP-1001...I have a 1060 I've been holding on to, but this video inspired me to hunt down this ESC for my little TRX4 knock-off. Thank you for this excellent video review. I appreciate being educated about new options available for my hobby.
What is the continuous amps on the internal BEC? Voltage gives you speed but once load is introduced , that's where the continuous amperage is much more important. I believe Hobbywing is either 5 or 6 amps continuous. Mamba X is 8 amps peak but 5 or 6 amps continuous.
Good news, it has updateable firmware. Just installed an istd esc90 and it was painless with way less of the issues people have complained about. Let's see how long it lasts
After your first review of Hobbywing 1080 we have bought a lot of them and are for sure optimal for Crawling! After this review I have ordered it immediately !! Thanks for your really interesting job !
Facts this being app programmed whose to say this wont be like my half dozen dasmikro bluetooth reci3vers that i havnt been able to use since bt 2.0 phones 3.0 and 5.0 current ones will connect but they dont smoothly opperate the controls of the car
7:10 Sounds to me like "Active Drag Brake" is what HW inexplicably calls Freewheeling. Creeping downhill with the 1080 is much smoother with Freewheeling enabled, especially with a three-slot motor. That said, it is either off (default) or on (enable setting 15) but you cannot adjust how much, so that's a cool feature -- just not new or unique.
I picked up a 1080 based on your reviews when I got my TRX4 Sport last year, but more competition in the market is always a good thing for everyone! If nothing else, maybe Hobbywing will bring the 1080 down in price in the future…
I honestly trust the 1080 more plus the extra 10 amp capacity makes the extra $20 worth it and the hobbywing name but I will wait for a real review of the finished product
Agreed. This video is more of an unboxing, with a quick spin up some fake rocks. I'm hoping Francis will do a follow-up after giving the product a thorough shakedown. Groovy features aside, an ESC lives or dies by whether it can handle intense fluctuating power for hours on end, in and out of water, in freezing or scorching temperatures -- something the 1080 has proven it can do. You don't want to be stuck out on the trail with a less expensive ESC that connects to your iPhone (sometimes) but can't make your truck go.
Damn, I love watching your enthusiasm! Great review, looks like a nice product at a great price. Can't beat phone programming, makes switching it up in the field easy.
Timely for me as I was about to get a couple of 1080s. Been using isdt chargers for years now and I trust the brand so a no brainer considering price, programmability and performance.
Wow that's a really good job from ISDT. If the go releasing also brushless ESC's with same features with a very good price i am really shure it would be a good alternative for my hobbywing 60a brushless ESC's. We should see.
So a new crawler specific esc,not before time👍😂however, this may be a good item but as yet it’s unproven and has its own faults,I doubt the finished item is going to be 25bucks! As it stands it’s no where near the PROVEN hw1080 quality or reliability. I watch a lot of your videos and in fact,I bought my first 1080 on the back of your review. I have four crawlers at the mo and each one has a 1080 in it,including a £500 axial bomber. But I do think to say that it’s as good if not better than the 1080 at this point is a bit misleading,it may be once they iron out the problems, but when they ve done that I m certain the price will go up. With regards to the program card I agree it could be offered with or without,I have four but only need one but it’s. A great idea and function and certainly better than trying to program with beeps or flashing lights, To say it’s awkward to operate now is just a contradiction because this new one can be programmed via a smart phone, which not everyone has. I like your videos and reviews but just think it’s a bit early in the day to be raving about this new product,I will be trying it myself but in about two years when they ve ironed out the issues with it. Appologies if this offends,it’s not meant to,just my opinion and from someone who is a massive fan of the 1080 but I really hope this new one proves itself as then we ll all have a choice instead of just the one, even if it is superb.Even at £42 it’s excellent value for what it does. Looking forward to reviews on this new one to see what people think👍👍😀😀
I agree Paul it will be brilliant if this product is better than the 1080 especially if its half the price. But i am curious to see how long it lasts, never mind if it better or not because it really is so cheap, even cheaper than the 1060. I am curious to see if it is still here in 2 years time like you say. Excellent comment Paul and open to a good debate
I really appreciate your feedback. I have about 10 Hobbywing 1080 escs myself. It is the standard for ESCs and all RC Products in general. So much value and performance. The new ISDT is very promising so it will be great to see as it gets the bugs out and proves its reliability. At the very least it will offer some competition and it will get the Hobbywing 1080 to update and improve.
I really hope isdt esc70 can make it for 2 reasons, 1. apps programming looks cool and can be upgrade for more function maybe in the future, if the app really works. 2. maybe the hw 1080 will be discount a lot so I can buy more for all my rc applications😁
Nice review. Ive been running this for 2 months in my trailfinder. So far so good, wish they labeled the receiver ports though. Have you seen any issues with heat?
@@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 I didnt compare it to the 1080 which I have, I had lower expectations. To me its a way better than stock upgrade that was worth the price. I wouldnt count on waterproof. I havent had it long enough to stress it in the heat (its very small). The app is buggy but still way better than a jumper or program box IMO. Overall its working well on 3s with a 21T TrailMaster Sport 550. My biggest fear so far is the button breaking. Time will tell if its worth it or not.
Not even noticing that your ESC detected 3S automatically but the cut-off voltage is as low as 6V? So after this ESC killed all your batteries it's probably not that cheap anymore...
I am going to buy one of these for a basher rig. The app is intriguing and may be the evolution of inexpensive esc market. I found them for 33.00 on Amazon, worth a shot in my book.
Big Squid reviewed this back in October 2021, definitely seems to be gettin some traction if only one can ever locate them in stock on Amazon. There's always ali express etc I just don't have the patience needed for over seas shipping 🤘🏽
*TECH TIP* It turns out the calibration is touchy on the ESC70.. If the Nuetral wont calibrate(theres a count down) then you can try turning your EXPONENTIAL setting up. For example I have a Futaba 3PK with FASST system and have no issues calibrating it, but.... I wanted to use my Cheap FLYSKY FS-GT3C and could not calibrate it. The Nuetral point wandered all over the place!!! I changed the EXPO to +70% and nuetral stabalized nicely. After that calibration was simple! Good luck to all and I hope this helps! :)
Not bad. Will be on the look out for an update product. Just the start of the video made a little confusing for some that don’t have knowledge. You Mentioned working together it sounds like the product would be added to the hobby wing. Other then that cool. 👍
I really enjoy your videos, they are so educational! I just got started in hobby grade rc a few weeks ago (SCX24 and Traxxas slash 4x4) and I just picked up an scx10 ii builders kit. After watching this video I decided to go with a brushed setup and snagged this esc for it what would be the best motor to pair it with?
When I punch full throttle and go from neutral to slow crawl it makes a huge jitter, like a hiccup, almost like a jump, makes all 4 wheels do that weird spasm like behavior. Have any of you experienced that? Everything else works perfect, except that detail.
Awesome I am doing a Custom build hard body from a Toy Halo Warthog. I am planning 1/10th scale with Class 1 tires. Using parts sitting around from Upgrades. Trying to do it on the cheap, so this is Ideal ! You always have the best info. Last winter I got A Tegu and when it arrived I was into working on my Summer RC's and the 24's got neglected, Now it's 24 season again I have it waiting. Amazed how Furitek have blown up over the last year, seeing them all over now.
Have you noticed an issue if going fast in forward, let the rig stop with the active brake, then go in the reverse direction? When I lightly go in the reverse direction it slightly jumps forward before going reverse.
Thanks a lot Sir, it's always a pleasure to see you getting excited but yet beeing objective when reviewing a product. Sir, you earned my trust and finally a subscription. Have a great 2022.
Francis you mentioned before that the trx4 micro servos can handle 7.4v but when I contacted traxxas they said they’re only capable of 6v… seems kinda dumb to include a 7.4v esc if all the included electronics will only do 6v and the esc is a weak point as it is, why not give us a cheaper 6v esc and make the truck cheaper in this case???
Can’t wait to finish watchin this. I know it’s great because you are wayyyyy too happy from the beginning of the vid. Lol. I’m sure this another great vid.
Hi I have a problem with the ISDT ESC70, when I open ISD GO, the ESC is well recognized, I am asked to update the Firmware, the download stops at 43%, then nothing, if I refuses the update, I can't do anything. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S9, with Android of course. Could you advise me. Thank you for all your videos, I'm a fan. Best regards from France
Looks good for $25 bucks I’ll give one a try. I have always wished you could buy the hw 1080 with or without the program box, how many of those does a guy need?
@@RCReviewChannel well that just made my life a whole lot easier. I have not crossed the 6V for fear of frying my recievers and i have after market stuff no RTR stuff.
I was worried about this with my trx4 since it still uses the traxxas micro servos didn't want to run them over 6 volts so I used a hobbywing bec and only used it to send power to my servo instead of servo and reciever that way micros get 6 volts and my nsdrc steering servo gets 7.4 or 8.4 volts. Hobbywing makes a strong one that has dip switches on it to change voltage without having to program it, I like that part.
My stock trx4 motor is finally cooked I think. Besides price, is there any advantage for this system compared to something like the hobbywing brushless?
You have saved me so much time and money ! Thank you sir! This video is awesome, I almost got the other one you used to like. Lol It's cool seeing you get excited 🙏 Respect to you.
The ESC70 is absolutely NOT ready for prime-time. It basically doesn't work. I tried it in two different rigs with two different radios, and at one point spent 30+ minutes just getting the app to recognize the ESC all. It's more about "timeout" and "sending parameters failed" than anything else. Never did manage to change the drag brake force. The app is a dumpster fire. I wouldn't wish this ESC on my worst enemy. Is the HW 1080 worth the additional 19 bucks? Well, it actually works, so... yeah. Yeah it is.
I'd love to see you do a completely new, start fresh review soon. This time just don't compare it to any other ESC and judge it as you see just it. Im using an android Samsung galaxy s22 ultra though for the app side, and have never used an apple phone, so I don't know if that's a thing, but any time I restart my ESC I have to restart my app. It connects alot cleaner when I change settings. I'm running mine in a FMS Smasher custom with a 130 sized motor, and it makes my truck super powerful on 3s. But I usually use 2s just to keep it more realistic to the older 80s monster truck era. Those trucks weren't back flipping, they were straight racing! So I use the ESC for the punch at the start, and punch out of turns and up onto piles of crushed cars... Lol Good luck man! PS I was using a 1060 before this, and I do prefer this to the 1060 only because I couldn't program it. I've never owned a 1080. I've always ran brushless Castle and was sponsored by them in my 1/10 Scale monster truck Pro-Mod days. I got out, stayed out till about 6 months ago cause I seen the FMS Smasher v2 and it was only 1/ 24 scale! Perfect for chasing the cat around the house and ramping lines of shoes...😉🖖🍻
@@Captain_Tool_Vicarious I don't know if you're talking to me or him, but the ESC70 is still hot garbage. Maybe you've found a secret running it in a 6" long truck on 2S, fitted with a 130 motor. Because it's still objectively terrible paired to ANY 540 motor you could choose. I've tested a factory-fresh, new out of the plastic unit with brand new firmware and it was still awful in every way. The app slaving is unforgivable, particularly after you've experienced what app integration looks like.
@@CrawlerCanyon never mind... Lol I just got mine up and fully running, and there's glitches all over the place. I'm definitely going either back to the 1060 or full brushless sensored. Done with this thing. I apologize, I should have had it fully running before I commented. I only just did a quick hook up and turn on and it was fine, then I tried adjusting stuff, now the damn servos are trying to turn when I use the throttle!! Lmao... Thing is bonkers. I redact my statement from earlier and don't wish anymore suffering to you good sir. Your sanity can only handle so much. You definitely tried!! I watched all your vids. Now I gotta box this thing up, and get it back to Amazon.... 🤷🤦
5:55 Whoa, slow down. What was that about the app timing out and you being forced to start all over? All the legit reviews on Amazon (granted, there are two) give the unit a failing grade due to software that simply does not work. How has the ESC performed since this upload I wonder. Edit: Okay, I see at the end where you address the glitches, but in the same breath, you call it a great product and a super value, which you admit is premature.
I got one and it didn’t last 10 minutes. Hobbywing 1080 Is better quality. Plastic case was hot and has no visible heat sink. Complete plastic case. I wouldn’t recommend this. Sorry but this review sold me.
@@RCReviewChannel 👍 Easy mistake for a Yank to make. Canadians go back and forth between the scales, therefore that first-second determination is instilled at birth. 😁
@@RCReviewChannel badass sadly seems anyone that sells it at pricing u mentioned either dont sell it anymore or have marked it up almost to 1080s priceing now tho
