30 years later the Pistons write off their loss to the Bulls in 91 as "them getting old." They didn't "get" old. They won the Championship in 89 & 90, They weren't on a decade run. Rodman won rings 7 years later... They didn't get old, they got beat.

If you have ever seen the footage of Jordan’s face when they passed him as they walked off of the court, it’s very clear that Michael was hurt. It’s all over his face. Who knows how much he really respected them or how he thought they would give him his props and or passed the torch. And a competitor like Mike would never admit it, but it’s plain as day.

Last Dance reminded me of nothing, cause I remember everything about it. It was still a nice documentary, cannot be put into the perspective of a Bulls fan, will never forget any of it. It felt like Ragnar had just conquered France, and we were the Vikings. It was like the most satisfying run and team in sports history, it was surreal as can be. We had permanent smiles and good for decades worth of conversations. It was like we had Batman on our team, now there's nothing to watch on TV.

@element-dh9dx
@element-dh9dx 10 месяцев назад
@@aphiwembande8661 Thank you, I tried to describe it as best I could from memory, envy from other organizations is understandable though, I don't mean to rub it in. I used to think like how this type of run just does never happen, so we're lucky to experience once it in a lifetime, or many actually. Most of that was because of having MJ, without him forget it. The recent drama with Scottie and MJ has me a little bit disgusted with Pippen, Jordans detractors are ridiculous, he was near perfect as he continued to learn the game. He was more of a hero than a player, what I remember he did it all when it counted. His earlier career is just an afterthought, he just kept getting better... Nobody else I can think of like that in any sport, except maybe Ali. Some people say Wayne Gretsky was ridiculous, I didn't really follow him. I understand how difficult it is to dominate any professional sport, it's very difficult.

The selective narrative by MJ is to ignore the fact that the Bulls were the biggest crybabies in the NBA. They were embarrassing.
@pl1532
@pl1532 Год назад
@@tomhearns143 The entire league was in transition from playing finesse to physical. Detroit adopted the Lakers/Celtics playoff intensity and incorporated it into every regular season game. Many teams, including the Bulls, were not prepared for that style of play, but obviously they adapted as the younger players got a few years under their belt. When the Pistons got swept and walked off the court, now that was both embarrassing and poor sportsmanship.

@wloonie
@wloonie 4 года назад
No guys, you're missing one crucial point. Where were Bulls weaker in 1990? In the paint. So yes, Bulls "got better", but because of Phil Jackson, as always. He got rid of players who weren't physical enough, such as Ed Nealy (could shoot threes, but was unusable as rebounder), Jeff Sanders, Jack Haley, and replaced them with Cliff Levingston and Scott Williams. As a result Bulls ended up with no less than six centers/PFs: Cartwright, Grant, King, Perdue, Levingston and Williams. That's 36 possible personal fouls per game, guys! So they could outfight Pistons in 1991, something they couldn't do the year before. Not everything was with MJ - in fact it was much more with Phil. The reason why Bulls did worse in 1995 than in 1994 despite MJ returning was the absence of Horace Grant who left to Orlando. They were hollow in the paint for entire 1994-95 season. And then the league's best rebounder came aboard...

The interesting fact what people don't grasp that when Detroit and the Celtics played their was plenty times they left the floor without shaking their hand. Now Byrd stated and others Detroit had a reputation for being tough. But Laimbeer and others had history of wanting taking some of the best players out. I respect tough players but if they did try hurt people on purpose I would not want shake their hand. But Isaiah played on messed up ankle is what made me like him the guy had heart. Not true, late 20s and early 30s was considered old in the NBA in the 80's. The games were much more physically demanding and fouls were much harder. Heck3 years earlier, when the Celtics lost to the Pistons, Larry Bird was only 31 or 32. The next year when the Lakers lost Magic was only 31. Playing deep into May and June year after year with how rough the game was, the players got older much quicker. If you don't like the word "old", then use "run down" because that's what it was.

Yeah, they were mentally drained & physically fatigued. This is the only team to beat SHOWTIME LA, Birds Celtics & holding down a young ferocious Michael Jordan. "The Pistons ended one era while stopping the Jordan in it's tracks." & that's not an easy thing to accomplish. NTM Barkley's 76'ers, Dominique & the ATL Hawks, Pat Ewing & the NY KNICKS, Bernard King & the Washington Bullets, Mark Price & Brad Daigherty of the Cleveland Cavaliers. By 1991, after 2 peating (should've been a 3 peat) as champions the Pistons were wore out. It was time for them to fade into the blackness & it was finally time for MJ to shine.

Isiah was an inspiration to me & influential. Zeke was my favorite because he was a guard...the smaller athlete who gave teams the business on offense!!! 1987, The Pistons came to The Capital Center to beat The Bullets, I was rooting 4 Zeke. He wasn't a champion at that point, on the verge. I'm a washingtonian but Zeke was my favorite player so the Pistons team got a pass When I had to witness the brutality of the Bad boys...I withdrew from liking or rooting 4 Zeke & The team. The only team I had ever claimed was & still is The Chicago Bulls...The Mega Bulls...THE UNBEATABULLS!!! I BECAME a lover of the game, learned what team effort meant & a common goal. I knew about sportsmanship but didn't know the L the Pistons took in the ecf (east con final) affected them or if it was something else, ego, inability to except defeat with humility & self-respect... In the end, Zeke was an antagonist of MJ in the all-star game and it solidified his absence with the DREAM TEAM IT AIN'T NO JOKE, IT AIN'T NO JOKE, MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE TRUE BASKETBALL GOAT 🐐
