My younger brother and I were there in 1978 I was 14 my brother was 11 he was in the school he was beaten and abused my mom found out quickly we had to plan an escape to leave and get out of there thankfully it was a short time span...It just breaks my heart you had to endure this life for so long 😢God bless you for having the courage to speak out about this My brother has such damage from his short time there what to speak of your entire childhood there
As someone new to ISKCON , these stories worry me so much. I can't believe this Prabhu went through so much and still has faith in the Lord. Thank you, Prabhuji. I really needed to hear this. However, I am no less concerned about these events and the suppression of them.
I am new to ISKCON, too (2020). The "good ol' boy," nonsense is what keeps me from being initiated. There is a new group of leaders imerging including Bhima Karma, Namrasa, and Swami Padmanabha. I will look up to them! Hare Krishna 🙏

Very sorry to hear what happened to you, Bhima. These gurukuli children are the real devotees of Krsna, they have suffered unimaginably in the name of Krsna. Was it not for their sacrifice (albeit involuntary) their parents would never have been able to serve and grow Iskcon. Iskcon, the temples, deities, prasad, everything is tainted with the misery, pain and blood of these innocent children. All devotees owe an unimaginable debt to them. Krsna will never be merciful to you by bypassing them when you die. Iskcon should be BOYCOTTED by everyone on PRINCIPLE until these crimes have been admitted and truly rectified. These remarkable Gurukulis who STILL have faith in Krsna should be the governing body of Iskcon, along with other independent professionals if they so wish. They understand the loopholes well and can contribute something even greater than any present, guru, preacher, sanyas or brahmachari. Krsna will not reside in an organisation or a temple where such horrendous crimes have been committed against His innocent children. The upkeep of such temples is impure and sinful and the service will never be accepted by Krsna. In reality, such temples and 'preaching' are only peddling everyone backwards in their spiritual life, no matter what progress you might think you are making, in real terms it's a minus. Even Sita was tricked by a golden dear which was in fact, the rakshas (devil) Ravan. Likewise, you all have been hoodwinked. Spiritual life is NOT 'Knowledge' it's INTEGRITY. Chant all you like but if you have no shame or compassion in your heart for these children, your chanting means nothing. It will never contain the purity, humility or love needed for the real grace of Krsna, Mahaprabhu or the Goswamis. These child abusers have not only destroyed Iskcon, they have also tarnished the effulgence of the Goswamis, Mahaprabhu and Radha Krsna - and Chaitanyite Vaisnavism itself. People who HAVE integrity yet do NOT know anything about Krsna are much closer to HIM, than those who claim to know Krsna yet live in denial, ignore or refuse to help out of cowardice. If some of these Gurkulis have gone off the rails and are taking drugs etc - ALL the devotees are responsible for this. Actions speak louder than words, WALK WITH YOUR FEET, and BOYCOTT all Iskcon temples until this matter is properly rectified, the only thing they understand is MONEY. If people stop going to the temples and stop donating, they will do whatever you say. By doing this you will be making Prabhupad proud!! Stand up for what is right and walk out with your feet. Build temples in your own homes and hearts. All Krsna needs is love, water and one tulsi leaf. The rest is all by the by. Not in my name or on my watch! What wonderful person Bhima-Karma is to survive such a horrific childhood and still be able to eloquently relate this experience for the sake of all the other victims of abuse in ISKCON. I was hoping the interviewer would ask more questions to gain an understanding of the motivation of the abusers. How does a spiritual institution become a haven for psychotic sociopaths, preying on the most innocent and vulnerable members of its institution? Why did the parents not realize what was happening; and fail to immediately rescue them? And what does this mean for the founder of the institution and the current leaders of that institution? My heart goes out to Bhima-Karma and all the other children who were brutalized within the New Vrindavan community.
I'm really sorry that horrible things happened to you. I don't know what's wrong with people who just ignore this, and minimize it. I cried when I listen all this and more to know about your father, the little boy and your brother die. I admire your strength,courage and intelligence. The best wishes for you and you lovely wife. Thank you so much for bravely sharing your story. I support you as a child of Iskcon that was sexually abused throughout my childhood by the Iskcon leadership.
Many devotees still don't know how ISKCON works after 1977. ISKCON is not led by Brahmins, nor are the gurus Brahmins. Rather, it all looks like a gigantic inheritance scam. The legendary chosen eleven apparently acted only secondarily as "gurus" but registered as the heirs to which the court could not refuse since there was no objection. The gurus then suddenly became the GBCs as well, and so today the GBCs are the private owners of ISKCON. So we are dealing with a kind of real estate mafia. When devotees feel at home in a temple, the GBC comes and throws them out. Temple communities have no say in temple administration. They are treated as useful idiots collecting money and dropping it off at the temple. It has nothing to do with Prabhupada anymore. If ISKCON is not led by Brahmins it should at least be leaders elected by the congregation.
I was astonished to discover that the regional GBC receives a maintenance fee. What a sad joke, what a sad state of affairs.?! I have personally moved away from ISKCON and have taken charge of my own spiritual life outside of the so-called movement.
@@Mukundanghri This is the GBC program - to attract new devotees who will quickly be plundered. They suggest to new devotees the whole thing is like a monastic order where you are in good hands for life. But that is by no means the case. Sacinandan Swami, a well-known ISKCON guru, himself admitted that after ten years 90% of the devotees have left. A criminally high turnover rate that doesn't exist in a monastery. The gurus always hold mass initiation ceremonies to recruit new members. It looks like the US GBC is aiming for this. Fleecing new devotees and bullying them out after a few years. Efforts are never made to get the “lost sheep” back. On the contrary. They then spread rumors that you were a fake devotee. Of course, does the GBC divert temple money into their own pockets.
It's not 1977 onwards. I love Prabhupada but he had no capasity to control the 10,000 drug crazed hippies that rolled through the door. 1 Adult for that many kids is not enough. I find these myths of perfect ISKCON to not perfect ISKCON are fake history, they are a myth that doesn't help anyone. It is all a continious history. All the temples where in dodgy names, the mayapur temple was paid for while Prabhupada was still alive by people like my father. Who were tought to pick pocket, rob and steal from the Japanese. Everyone thought they where above the law, and any time Prabhupada tried to reign them in they would do something else. There is no magic 11 people who ruined ISKCON. It was a lord of the flies stiuation. And Almost NO ONE was following the shastra. Dharma is LAW dharma is social codes. Adharma is no law and no social codes. ISKCON isn't special in that regards it happened to all the religious cults of the 60's

It;s such a bizarre and often repeated story that with religious Zealousness comes abuse of others especially women and children . The philosophy involved - without a doubt - would preach tolerance and kindness. I've heard a Scientologist tell an 18 month old to ';grow-up ' a Hare Krishna told me "never be sad if a 3 year old got abused to death , they're just repaying karma " and a Christian told me she suspected her husband of sex abuse of their son ( ! ! ! ) but "Oh well - God knows what he's doing and the Husband must remain head of the household " how does religion give SOME people the "right" to abuse. (Is that why it was invented ? )
Those 3 were coming from montreal temple. They moved to New Vrindavan because they hated to be to near to ghriastas and there kids. Considering themself so elaveted, as bramacharis. I am not lying. "Gauranga and his potatos", we used to call them. Known as homosexuals. Hearing that it was question to be related to gurukul, the anxious temple president tried to communicated to kirtananada who quickly answered "only rumors....!"
I am horrified. I’m fairly “new” to ISKCON, having heard slight rumors of some isolated cases of abuse. Things i “assumed” had been properly addressed. To be honest, if anyone had shared such an account as yours, I would have run far away immediately and not become involved. This is like every child’s storybook nightmare. You were a baby! As another commenter here touched on, I am also curious as to why I’ve not heard such complaints or accounts from the parents. I don’t know how I could handle my now grown son having been abused by anyone and at such a tender age. This is devastating to the body and mind of a growing person who needs tender loving care and guidance from adults they can trust. 💔
Naw stick with it. ISKCON is many things. Not all of them good. Just dont give them all your money or trust that the leadership is well organised. This is just sociology, unforunately get a few 10000's people who reject society, have them leave the social structures of an established culture and watch them go insane. Prabhupada was the only adult in all those 16-22 year olds. All of them ex hippies, ex drug users and rejecting social norms. They tried to Indianise themselves but there was no wisdom. They has no system of Just laws or law enforcement. It was vedic lord of the flies. ISKCON is still a child and all children are in the mode of ignorance and passion. Take ownership of it. Prabhupada gives you permission to be indepenantly thoughtful. So you do the best you can do and make it better. Just do not trust in the social structures they are not proffessional, they are several generations of amature attempts with no effort to send people to university to learn to be proffessionals in their fields (brahmins). I was a Kuli too and Bhima is a friend. You do your best and do not rely on outward appearance, rely on the behaviours and actions to tell you who is actually following. And the material world sucks (I had much more suffering in foster care after gurukula) but you can make it a little better. :)
That's crazy! I was also mistreated at Iskcon columbus but not at this level. My experience was a different type of abuse, mindgames, and actually illegal harassment at one point. It wasn't such a big deal because I wasn't the horrible person they were trying to make me out to be for whatever reason. But I noticed they tried to cover it all up by saying I was mentally ill when I was just a kid with anxiety. It was very weird. That's a different level of manipulation. And yes, this system of criticism blocks out an entire class of people searching for God. Kali yuga means the world is entirely destroyed in many ways. However, it's never an excuse to just continue being lousy. For someone to be conditioned to treat people in that way. In many respects, it's a lost cause. The chanting is always great. But yeah...a lot of these Indian immigrants who feel too entitled by their heritage and offend others are actually ruining the movement over here..this is actually a fact..
As A kuli too I do not blame the age of Kali I blame any society without Dharma (JUST LAWS) and systems to enforce JUST LAWS. The Sumerians where around at the time of Krsna and they where not some utopic society they where downright evil.
If Epstein's victims could bring him down, why are we not able to bring the child abusers in Iskcon and their enablers to account? Without them going to prison the abuse of power will continue 😢
Heart breaking.. I cannot understand how such satanic things can happen to Kṛṣṇa's dear devotees childs, and in such a massive and brutal way for so many years, and properly as you mentioned, some of this rapists are still actively in the movement and get respect maybe even worship from other devotees - its sick. Thank you that you speak about it, and as your wife very well said, devotees don't want to speak about this, of the fear to make a bad image of their organisation and founder Bhaktivedanta Swami, but because of their silence they allow more abusive. It is weird to say, but I'm so happy to see such a mature, healthy and sympatic adult devotee man, who had to go through all this abuses.. I have only one question which i was wondering since the beginning i watched your interview and i was hoping you will mention this during the talk but you didn't, and it really bothers me. In the time of your gurukula there was no phones or smartphones, but it was not that you and your brothers never saw your parents/mother, during the time you went to gurukul and got abused? Why you and all the other kids didn't tell their parents of the horrible experiences there, so they could have helped them and stop it? At least to take you out of the shool. So many kids got abused in iskcons gurukulas and no parents (which I consider as nice and good devotees) took action. This i cannot understand...
New Vrndavana was Kirtananda, but that is not the point, it was everywhere. With a few small exceptions. The Irish gurukula's and gurukuli's where all pretty good. I guess it was the Catholic family culture. Still a wacky disorganised cult. Australia had good points and bad points but was no where near dallas or New Vrndavana. By 1986 the corperal punishment ended (by law) and then there was an ashram teacher who threated to beat any adult who touched a kid to violently. One Bramachari grabbed a kids ears so he grabbed their ears and dragged them out of the temple and offered to beat the crap out of them. Nice Gurukul teacher. Mayapur and Vrndavana were hell on earth. Until the mid 90's. Now they pretend to be the most pure of pure places. I love Vrndavana but no thanks.

@@radhabhaav9217 It was systemic, not everything in the world is because of one bad actor. That is just faulty logic. It was the leaders, the elder students, the bramacharis it was EVERYONE. The mothers and fathers out collecting dumping their children. The preachers calling kids maya, the bramacharini's burning baby photo's of mothers as MAYA. I have no baby photo's that wasn't one leader. It was EVERYONE!
