Gotta be the most powerful n/a 202 XU1 in OZ. That thing is hanging against the V8’s down the straight. Amazing what properly set up Weber’s and extractors will do!
Do a little more research mate as the XU1s didn’t just have “properly set up webers and extractors” 😂 Add in starfire rods, forged internals, a massive cam, roller rockers, heavily ported head, massive valves, and more, all blueprinted and static plus dynamically balanced. Oh and properly set up webers and extractors 😂 I build a 202 that replicated the exact specs and it was over $12,000 in parts and machining, with me blueprinting and building it. Easily a $15,000 to $20,000 engine in those Bathurst XU1s.
Not to mention I had all rotating parts magnafluxed, shotpeened and polished. Plus triple row valve springs, valve stem caps, custom length pushrods so the yella terra roller rockers roll over the caps with minimal distance, and it just goes on and on. An immense amount of work, skill, time and expense goes into these engines that no one except an engine builder would know. The machining is so incredibly accurate that on my engine, as with the machinist’s National winning HQ 202 had the pistons just leave marks on the combustion chambers when the rods were fully stretched at 8,000rpm. But yeah… tuned carbies and extractors 😂
