The remains at the Point of Ayre ….that you were unable to find info on, were once the pump works for the salt Brine production, it was piped to Ramsey along the coast , then loaded for onward use…..👍🇮🇲💪
While I wait for your next episode from Norway (where I live) I discovered your Isle of Man tour. My grandmother was born there. Never been there myself, but you guys made me want to go, more than ever. Thank you so much❤️
I'm just catching up on all of your videos which I think are the most informative of the UK camper RU-vid community. I hardly ever comment on YT but Ken I think your drone footage is amazing, and the music you add works so well. What prompted me to comment this time though.....Carol's photos... WoW, they are stunning! Thank you for the hours of hard work you both put into your videos, I'm looking forward to my own adventures inspired by you both. XX
Thanks for the lovely comment Jan. It is so nice to receive this sort of appreciation and it inspires us to keep producing videos. Have fun on your adventures 🙂👍
Love that spot, I think all your van life audience/fans will be noting it down. Bet it would be different if the wind was up though! Your drone shots always inspire us Ken, so much so that we have stepped out of our fear camp and got ours up in the air finally! So thank you for that. Also, love the half a tube of pringles before the full plate of nachos, life is for living! Peace and love to you both 🙏💚
Great to hear you have started flying the drone. Whenever you get the chance fly it not necessarily to film but just to burn those control movements into muscle memory as it really pays dividends when things go wrong. Biggest tip I can give you is to decide what you want to film and from what angle/height before you take off. Fly in straight lines or gentle curves and treat the drone more like a giant tripod in the sky. It’s perfect for getting you both in the shot both near and far and I often use it as my primary camera on a walk. Make sure you record a nice long bit of audio from the place to use as a background and Bob’s your uncle 😁👍
Evening Ken Charlie,,great blog very interesting beautiful scenery the beach looks stunning the place you found to stop by the lighthouse is ideal, your drone shots are great,Ken have you ever thought of getting a bigger camper van so you both have a bit of free space each ,nice sunset nice ti see you working Ken ,,,drying the dishes lol, well guys most enjoyable, take care keep safe,John 👏👏👀🇬🇧👨🍳👨🍳🥂🌹👑👑
Great drone shots as usual. No beer with the chilli? Carol's cooking great as always. Looks like a great place for a good sleep. Good thing the fog horn is off. Great shots of the sunset.
Binging on these playlists. These are so lovely. I enjoy the longer videos where i can really settle in. I know some ppl might say just watching the world go by or watching you & chutney 🤣😍relax is boring, but i believe there is an audience for it, of which I am certainly a member.
Glad you enjoy them. RU-vid is not our job so we make them the way we want to. They are just our memories for later. We also watch tons of youtube and have no desire to conform to any recognised format. 🙂👍
Haha! Ol One Leg from the Old Ship Blackthorn🤣🤣 back again. I always hear something i missed the first time. & I loved the dinner munching as you watched the birds. So authentic, like the viewer is there 👍 K
What a great park up that would do us the colours are great. Drone shots stunning love the smooth driving of it you have got that down to a fine art. Looks like you could do with a metal cup to protect the thermocouple somehow attached underneath
Hello Ken / Carol lovely video I was amazed how calm the Irish Sea was having crossed it many times , the drone shots were great very peaceful everywhere . I am always paying attention to Carols cooking taking notes for when I start traveling in my van , well done Carol it always looks so good. Take care always .
Synchronised walking on the pebbled beach lol. Nice park up. Love listening to the sea at night. Village idiots happen occasionally. We had our first on the Isle of Skye blasting his horn as he went past. I love a lighthouse as you probably know by now lol. One for the list I think.😊
Haha. We have had several toots of the horn but this was our first laughing idiot 😂 This was one of our favourite park ups on the Isle of Man, definitely worth a visit 😀👍
Beautiful shots and music folks really enjoyed watching that just before bedtime so nice and relaxing. Loved the wagtails and one leg and the seals popping up and having a look. Thank God the fog horns off or you could have waved goodbye to a nights sleep. I'm wondering now if you spent another night there because I know I would have. Thanks again for making me hungry before bedtime Chutney I will never lose weight at this rate. Nity night!
Thanks so much for watching and your lovely comment. We loved all the wildlife at that spot too but you will have to keep watching to see if we spend another night there 😁
Excellent video as always Ken. I really liked the short reminder section of your previous video at the start. It made the flow from one episode to the next very smooth.
wow!!! I dint realize how 22 mins passed by... Amazing video...one of your best videos.. looks like experience is teaching you to make better videos with time... BTW its not a tiny van.. it has good space along with a first floor:-)
Me and my family moved to the Isle of man just before Covid hit. Unfortunately we had to move back to the UK in February this year. We are enjoying watching your videos. The island is a magical place to be.
Great park up spot know it well, better appreciated from the spectacular drone footage. Have walk it across the island from Douglas to Peel & back remember it well lovely weather, blisters on my feet from wearing my normal shoes sheer bliss. 👍😎🌞🌇
Carol as really got a great eye for a photo, well done Charlie👍🤣. I think this is one of my favourite episodes because its such a lovely spot. Awesome drone shots Ken and good of them to put a landing spot for you🤣 Thanks you two...atb Dixie
As others have said (including one who I think is a cousin! The Isle of Man used to be like that, I had some 7 or 8 cousins in my year when I started at the Grammar School in Ramsey) that there are ruins of the brine pumping station at the Point of Ayre. Further though, there was a works in Ramsey around where the shipyard is, and the brine was also used in the Grand Island Hotel (formerly a "hydro") that used to dominate the north end of the prom where you parked and once offered treatments. I worked at that hotel in the bar, by which time it was old and leaky and was stumbling along financially. Incidentally, the shipyard in Ramsey, which you will have seen, built the oldest seagoing sailing ship in the world, the "Star of India", built in Ramsey in 1863 as the "Euterpe" - there a plaque on the quayside telling you about it. Incidentally, I was parked at the Point of Ayre one day, enjoying the peace and quiet, when an army wagon rolled up, uncoupled a 105mm gun and starting firing (hopefully blanks) towards Scotland, before leaving with no explanation. There used to be a camp for Territorials at Jurby, but this was after that had closed, so I don't know what it was all about
Wow, Ray you have some stories to tell. We saw the plaque about the Star of India in Ramsey. Obviously some dispute with the Scots, quite understandable 😂 Thanks for all the info and personal reminiscences 👍😀
I loved the beautiful colours in the scrub land around the lighthouse there. I always preferred to find that kind of a parkup back in the day. In a little area near to southwell I was woken up in the morning by thumping noises. When I looked out the camper was surrounded by Rabbits. The ground was quite sort of solid but also resonant and they were all hopping about at five in the morning. I made a cup of tea and sat on the bed with the Transit's sliding door open watching them. They didn't scarper until after breakfast when I started the engine to move off. Carol's Nachos made me peckish so going in the kitchen to find the remains of the bag of mini Popaddums from teatimes Curry.
The colours of the gorse and heather were so vivid all over the island, we don’t remember noticing that anywhere else we have been. We can picture you in your transit enjoying the bunnies, what an idyllic scene. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your mini poppadoms ☺️👍
Once again a very good vlog . The drone flight around the Point of Ayer was quite interesting, I know the area very well but not from that angle. Although you will not be able to tell some of your fight was over Wrights Pit, the islands now closed land fill site. Not so bad now but a very smelly place a few years ago.
Needed this today feeling a bit down, so a visit to the island was just the ticket. You should enjoy cregneash its very quaint. Carol your making me hungry 😋 thank you for another lovely video. Xx ❤️💙
Hi Carol and Ken Some spectacular late evening drone shots. Hope that you manage to get the problem with cooker resolved, annoying to say the least as they have had three attempts. I would contact the manufacturer's Service Manager directly if you have not already thought of that. Regards from Crawford
Wonderful vlog as always, my husband and I eagerly await you’re uploads, when there aren’t ant new ones, we have been going back through you’re older playlists. It’s become a perfect end to a day, thank you both so much! Ken, you do make us giggle with you’re enthusiastic hmmmmm mmmmmm’s when eating 🍽 We are in the market for a camper ourselves, having been caravanners before, we feel a bit anxious about losing the luxury of a loo 😊. We are both a bit covid anxious, due to health conditions, so wouldn’t be comfortable using public loos🤭. This is proving a sticking point, as we love the idea of a smaller camper, for all the reasons you mention 🤔. Btw do you know that the opening titles music you use, is now being played on an advert for insurance from the co op 😎 stay safe both and thank you so much, for keeping us entertained 😎 xx
Wild camping is excellent if you are covid anxious as its very easy to limit your contact with others. We manage great without a proper chemical toilet but understand that it is not for everyone. If people need the loo during the night then our setup won’t work well at all due to lack of space. The next van size up gives you loads of options though. Without a doubt being small makes the touring quite stress free as we never worry about narrow roads, height barriers or not finding a place to spend the night. As you may know we went from a fairly big comfy new van straight to the tiny NV200. Big risk as we didn’t know if we could do it but the risk paid off for us. If you are unsure then maybe hire one to see if its for you. Didn’t know the Co op are using the same music 😁👍
It’s always a treat watching your travels and exploration. You capture it so well and professionally with your various recording equipment. You guys are such an inspiration for wildlife camping, you always seem to overcome problems in such a calm and contained manner. All the very best Ken & Carol. Peter 👋
Another cracking episode. That evening drone shot made the landscape look like a patchwork quilt with some amazing colours. Our cutlery has knocked out the ignition switch a few times, the gas burners are a common problem.
Such a beautiful spot. The lighting in that drone footage always superb. I like the land on the Helipad. 👌, Nice touch. Loving your series on the Isle of Man.
We have stayed there turned left at light about 1/2 mile down we could see ireland and a light house at night across the water Enjoying were your adventures are taking you
I also eat very slowly I chew and chew and make my meal last as long as possible and drive my husband insane 🤣🤣🤣. That chilli looked really good. Photography and drone shots amazing. A beautiful park up but I bet there were not many wild campers when those fog horns were operational. I hope you slept well Ken you will have to watch your body clock doesn’t get a bickty backaty fronty 😊. Looking forward to the next one
I love the kitchen and rear lifting top on the Nugget Plus, but the bed in your camper looks easier to open and close. I also prefer the way your rear doors open out rather than one large door opening up. Always a compromise (but oh that kitchen!). Of course, neither is available in the USA.
You are always waking that lovely wife of yours up Ken! 🤣 Carol is always so cheerful even when she’s sleepy and always manages a smile. ( I’d probably throw a slipper at Graham ! ) realise it’s part of your Wild Camping strategy, so needs must. Lovely vlog. Great places to stay by the looks of it as well. May try a version of your chilli idea. Looked tasty. E🧙♂️😉
Thanks Ellie. For some reason waking up early is never unpleasant in the van and quite often the early morning is the best part of the day before everyone else is up ☺️ Hope you enjoy the chilli nachos 😋
What a beautiful place the Isle of Man is, I had no idea. Fantastic drone footage Ken and great photos Carol. Slipped up there Ken with ‘left over Pringles’ hey! Still…. Made up for it by making sure Carol used all the Doritos! 😆
Great video and you captured the beauty of the area really well. It is a place that I walk my dogs quite regularly as I live nearby and you made me realise that I rather take it for granted!
Some beautiful scenery a very chilled and relaxing atmosphere with this episode Some lovely drone shots ken and wonderful photos you'll have to do a episode in the future perhaps of these you have got a good eye for it Carol take care 🙂
I just wanted to say I’ve been enjoying watching your videos and think they are edited very well. I live on the Isle of Man but it’s always nice to be reminded how much beauty we have around us. I hope you’ve enjoyed your trip while on the island, thanks Kev .
The Point of Ayre lighthouse used to be open for visitors during daylight hours in the 1960s. I can remember hearing the foghorn blaring out from Ramsey. The shingle beach is deposited by the continual shifting of currents up the east and west coasts of the island.
I have similar problem with my cooker, one of knobs kept falling of it was working ok then,so I super glued it on,when sticking it I pressed hard to keep it in position while glue dried. That’s the problem now the knob is to low to cooker so if I press very hard it works ok.In your case try putting bit of paper under knob to raise it slightly.see if that works.
Lovely vlog Ken x Carol x 🇮🇲Strange with all the folk in a village we always find the Idiot 🤪🤪🤪 3 Fix atemps on stove Noooo ! 🤨🤨 I think they need to replace 👍 Your own Helo land pad, nice.👍 Lovely Drone footage Ken 👏👏 Hugs to Carol x 🇮🇲 👊😘🚐👍 Stephen & Skye x
Great episode! 😍. Good to see that the weather was kind to you here and enabled you to show this park up off so very beautifully from the air and the ground. Just beautiful 👌🏻
Beautiful video..loved Carols photographs..the music and drone footage was amazing...thank you for sharing this lovely island..take care from Arizona 🌵
The Ayres is a nature reserve, stick to the roads, that's what they are there for. Don't be tempted to create your own roads and push that and crush the rare plants. x
Here in the California you can get nachos like that at a 7-11 or am pm gas stations which aren’t very good but only Carol can make them look good and I bet taste delicious. Jc n Red
Lighting the ring. Might sound stupid. Take tap handle off. Put a squashed up piece of tin foil in the hole in the bottom of the tap handle. That allows you to push the tap spindle further down into the thermoelectric valve before the tap handle hits the hob top giving a better connection from the thermoelectric to the thermocouple. 😀
Ahoy Pirates! :D What an honor, Sir! Had to rewind the birdie scene to be sure of the mighty quote you made on my ship! :D Well, bloody hell! Have to admit, that rascal bird was Scurvy Dog! He owes me a great deal of booty, aye! Next time ya see him, better catch him, so we can share the dare! .) Not fifty-fifty but since we are both Royals of the Dandies, I believe in a fair parley! .) Captain of the good old Blackthorne
If we had known it was that rapscallion Scurvy Dog we would have had him in chains in no time and dashed over to ye good old Blackthorne for a fine old parley to claim our share of the booty 💰🏴☠️😂
Thank you soo much for your traveling videos. With what is going here in the un-united states they are a real treat. Curious what the cradles were for at the fog horn tower.
Hi Duane, the world is going mad at the moment. I don’t know what those cradles were for but I am guessing one was for a fuel tank and the other a generator to drive the foghorn. ?
