I was reading recently that in Canada if you give Via Rail (successor to Canadian Pacific and Canadian National) 24 hours notice they'll stop at any milepost. They have 7800 miles of track so if you have a couple of years to spare you could do All the Mileposts in Canada.

Via didn't replace CP and CN, both still exist but only for goods. Via will stop at a mile marker in some of the northern routes, but not all of the services

It's 48 hours, and only in certain areas on certain trains. www.viarail.ca/en/explore-our-destinations/stations/stops-between-two-explore-our-destinations/stations and they reserve the right to say no if they think it will cause a serious delay. Remember, North American long distance trains eat the Penzance-Aberdeen run Geoff and Vicky went on for breakfast. "The Canadian", Via's flagship run between Toronto and Vancouver, is nearly four times the length at just about 4500 kilometers.

Bits about Dhoon Glen that I did not have a chance to tell you about .. The gates on the shelter are the goat gates as feral goats roam the area from just before Bulgham Rocks towards Ballaglass. The gates are to stop the goats damaging the bench seat & leaving their visiting card. The chalk words advising that the stop is a request stop was written by my dad as if you do not request the tram to stop it will go past. The white building with the green door was our family’s cafe what we leased from the forestry department of the government. Our lease expired 31/12/2018 .

Vicki did a great job switching the trolley pole for the first time. The springs on them are very strong. Throwing the points also takes a lot of strength. In the U.S., a switch-stand is geared and a lot easier to actuate.

The Isle of Man looks amazing, and it definitely looks like a place I'd like to visit. The old trams and steam trains really add to the island's unique charm. Three great facts about the Snaefell Mountain Railway are that it is the only electric mountain tram in the British Isles (the one in Llandudno is a cable car), it is the only tramway (that I know of) in the British Isles that runs entirely on the right, and it uniquely uses bow collectors to obtain power. Also, the Manx Electric Railway uses a trolleypole, not a pantograph. Otherwise, this is a really great video. Keep up the good work!

If you look at it closely I think you'll find it's not real leather, it just doesn't crease right. Leather is not that expensive in the UK, we do produce a lot, Pigskin may be expensive as our pigs are butchered with the skin on, we like our crackling on our Pork and what is removed goes to make Pork Scratchings, a staple to eat with a pint.

Yes, I acquired a T-shirt at Snaefell Summit (I don't know if they're still selling them now, this was a few years back) "I climbed 2036 feet just for a cup of tea!!"
