Your channel may have 40k followers (plus 1 ^-^) but your videos deserve so many more likes. My isopod reference videos are mostly of your channel and Supreme Geckos. You two are amazing in your videos and information. Thank you so much

It's great to see Porcellio in such detail - I particularly liked the close-ups of P. ornatus as today I've managed to collect my first ornatus Yellow Dot here in southern Spain. They seem to be narrower bodied so it will be interesting to watch how they mature as I don't think they are fully adult.

I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos over the past 2 years as I’ve learned a lot not only about isopods but other invertebrates aswell. I’ve also started keeping isopods myself for the past year with success and have been enjoying taking care of my colonies while watching your videos. I currently keep Porcellio laevis(dairy cow and orange), and Trichorhina tomentosa, and after having success with all three colonies I decided to get three more, Oniscus asellus(white skirted isopod), Cubaris murina(little sea isopod), and Armadillidium maculatum(zebra isopod). Thank you for continuing to make educational and entertaining videos😊

I want to keep some isopods in my classroom, I’ve had success keeping them at home in plastic tubs, however I’d like to keep them in a 10 gallon, glass enclosure for better viewing at school. Is this advisable, or is there a particular isopod that would do better in a glass, screen topped enclosure?
@Aquarimax
@Aquarimax 4 года назад
Gilbert Dominguez There are quite a few isopods you could keep in an enclosure like that. I would recommend a day-active species tolerant of some dryness, or you make some simple modifications to the screen top to hold more humidity in. Just about any Armadillidium, or giant Porcellio species could do well with a fully screen lid, as they would appreciate the ventilation. Porcellionides pruinosus is a good option as well.

Hey Rus, I was wondering if there's a difference between how active and how prolific a species is? Does more activity always mean more breeding? Thanks!
@Aquarimax
@Aquarimax 4 года назад
Minesanity Great question! In general, I have noticed the more active species being more prolific, but there may be exceptions to that rule.

I’ve been keeping isopods for a few months now, and have noticed little mites with an orange hue to them. I notice one crawling on an isopod you were displaying. They look pretty much the same as mine. Are they harmful to isopods? If so how do I get rid of them? 18:50 is when you can see it in your video

Andrea Castaneda the soil mite? Not a problem for isopods. 👍

This question I have is actually a question from another video you made. I wanted to know what kind of tape you use to keep the chiffon on the plastic tub. Out of my five cultures I only have two of them that have a Lotta gnats in there so I am going to give it a go. I also hung a sticky fly trap in the closet where I keep my isopods, and so far it is working pretty well. I do see some gnats on there.Thanks so much for all of your
@Aquarimax

I have used a few different types of tape, Nashua tape, breathable medical tape…Nashua tape might be the most durable.
