This is my discussion of how Israeli right wing logic for destruction of Gaza is pretty much the same as used by Bin Ladin. The idea comes from journalist Mehdi Hassan’s use of it. My book on ISIS: amzn.to/3KoRbMQ
I had to revise that post 5 times before youtube found it acceptable to publish. I had to remove all terms included in title of the video, and of course the g-word.
I learned some new information today and able to see more clearly tthe connection and argument between Israel's genocide of the Palestinian people and their rhetorical argument and thinking. Thank you.
Thank you for this clear explanation. It explains how, by thinking in this way, the Israelis have come to lose their humanity in their actions in Gaza.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for “taking on that job,” Sir. Your eloquent, digestible teachings spread very useful knowledge & lessons that feed compassion & critical thinking. In turn, helping to save humanity & our dear planet from damaging & destructive ideologies.
Someone coined another term along those lines Doc. October seven-ism illusion. meaning that the history of the conflict started in October 7. The remedy of those suffering from that illusion is a library card.
After coming across ambivalent or downright pro Israel videos and articles, it is a deep relief to keep coming across your videos, Professor. Thank you
Bin Ladenist logic justifies civilian casualties by arguing that civilians who fund their government's military actions against Muslims are legitimate targets. This rationale, outlined in bin Laden's letters to America, claims that paying taxes and electing leaders who support aggressive policies makes civilians complicit in these actions. The principle of reciprocity is also invoked, suggesting that harm to Muslim civilians justifies retaliatory attacks on Western civilians. This same logic is being echoed by some Israeli leaders who justify Palestinian civilian casualties by claiming they voted for Hamas. However, the true alignment with bin Ladenist logic is in funding governments that perpetuate conflict. For instance, it was Netanyahu's government that had financial dealings with Hamas, complicating the moral justification of targeting civilians.
When I see in the comments of videos that the Gazans voted for Hamas so they deseve this I ALWAYS reply with congrats, that is Bin Laden logic. Collective punishment should have not carried on after WW2.
