Izzy took those punches far better then expected. But Jan won because he extended his reach and kept pushing his opponent on the back foot. Absolute masterpiece from Jan!
At UFC 281 Joe Rogan tried to claim Izzy was lighting up Jan on the feet and Jan had to use grappling to win. So glad there's highlights that show Jan was tagging Izzy
@@Wolverinebj3 u have to be kidding izzy landed one lunch that barely did damage the rest were pillows every punch landed jan was giving that boi cute rewatch the fight your and reconsider your existence if you truly believe that 4 and 5 rounds 10-8s
@@matthewa7503 Size and power have nothing to do with striking skill. If anything, his size meant that Izzy had the speed advantage, but it didn't help. Jan schooled him on the feet and on the ground.
They work for the company what else...they need to help sell a story. Without the story these are just men in a cage fighting under certain rules and conditions🤷♂️
@@anterq what are you talking about Jan won 4 out of the 5 rounds. And he literally out strikes Izzy with head and body shots, Izzy only outlanded him with leg strikes 🤦♂️
@@jimbo8814 Bullshit, he literally just tried to gain more points landing a few more blows before the round ended because Izzy didn’t have enough time to scramble and do anything
Going up in weight and winning is a big deal. You see it a lot in boxing. Look at Canelo vs Bivol and Canelo lost. Size does matter in fighting sports. I think most fighter go up in weight division because they dominated their division and wants a bigger accomplishment. I'm not an Isreal fan at all and seeing him lose this fight made me smile. Why did I smile? Because it is not easy to do in MMA and I believed Isreal needed to eat a piece of humble pie. BUT he is ambitious and that is a good trait. He gained my respect for trying something that only a few fighters accomplished in MMA.
Bro every body type is good for something else Look at Volk Smaller than nearly everybody he fights but still dominates on the feet This ,,he only wins because height and reach" thing is a pathetic excuse
@@STiergoofballReach and height helps, your a dummy if you think it does not help. Volk is a very well rounded fighter, you have to be exceptional if you’re smaller, while you can be lacking on some parts if you’re gifted in height and reach and still be a exceptional fighter. For example: Jon Jones he can party 2 weeks before fight because he’s gifted, If Volk does that he’s done.
I was genuinely terrified watching this fight but so thrilled at the same time. Jan is stronger than Izzy..his punches and kicks caused more damage. Props to Izzy for taking it like a man and putting a good fight. I love it!
sure its the size difference, but jan was able to touch izzy in ways that nobody at 185 has been able to aside form gastellum. he was more powerful but also looked more skilled
Most are stronger than him. Jan is just as tall or taller, with as much reach or longer, and is stronger. Izzy seems to thrive on shorter opponents. He’s 6’4”.
@@naijainnit Adesanya is 6’4 Jan is 6’2 so not taller but he’s tall enough and has a long enough reach to where Adesnaya can’t use his height and reach as effectively plus Jan outstruck him and outgrappled him so he’s just the overall better fight even at 38 which was his age when they fought so not exactly young lmao
@@naijainnit Exactly tall skinny dudes have a huge advantage in the lighter weight classes because most dudes aren't 6'4. Once you get to the heavier weight class most dudes are tall so that advantage is gone.
Jan had the right idea Get in fast while ignoring your opponent, works well for a feinter like Izzy The jab covers the clinch and takedown He has fearless charging energy Izzy is good but not strong enough, and got too close and gave him a couple takedowns only to receive heavy punishment for his blunder Better strategy is to counter the charging style more with centerline and not focus on trying to feint with him or confuse him
Me personally i think Izzy has heavy hands that he hasn’t used to his full potential for a while, I mean look at him vs Robbie, those last 2 punches that made him fall almost twisted his head the other way
Jan out classed Izzy in this fight .. this was pound for Pound and iZzy didn’t really do much.. imagine if Jan only focused on a take down .. fight would have been over since
I feel like izzys 2 main advantages were nullified in this fight, reach and technical striking, jan has the reach and is close to par with izzys hand speed ect
Yeah fucking right. The only thing that won Jan this fight was a huge size advantage multiple times Jan would’ve been starched like Whittaker if it weren’t for Izzy probably being 30 pounds less
@【F】【E】【C】【E】【S】 Why are you putting question marks? I didn't say anything about Jan winning because of same reach. Jan won because he was way bigger dude. I am saying that Izzy's ate every punch with same reach guy, and he shows off when he fights short guys. Nothing superior about him, I can't wait for Pereira to expose him
@@zachennis5132 Adesnaya would get rag dolled and touched up on the feet by Glover lmao, Jiri would absolutely starch Adesanya if they fought so just face it 205 isn’t for Adesanya little anime boy should stay at 185 where he’s safe until Alex Pereira knocks his ass out again and makes the score 3-0 Pereira.
Fights are so much better without the noise of the crowds. You can actually hear what’s going on and hear the contact of the kicks and what not, and you can feel much more in tune with the fight.
You have a new subscriber and a new #1 fan my brother. I can feel you love of this art is as stones as any fighter with this type of stuff my brother. Keep em coming you have an incredible talent, its ONLY up from here my G.
People saying Strickland ended izzys career but this fight was a clear indication of what would happen soon. The “best striker” got rocked 20 times this fight
Izzy did better than most LHW without putting on extra weight fighting the champ right off the Bat moving up quick and making it more competitive than most of Jan previous opponents. It says a lot about Izzys skill level, but it also showed that Jan it’s not just polish power he can be technical too I’m glad Jan won this fight showing that he is at the same level as Izzy at striking.
wtf u saying bro, adesanya was feeling himself like he is jon jones and tried to prove us fans that he is better than jones, but actually he just realized the true power of JON BON JONES..
Jans striking is so underrated, he literally outstruck Izzy, and if you're saying he didnt, he damn well nearly did, and thats not an easy thing to do.
Izzy got completely outclassed on the feet and on the mat. Its funny to see people switch up before and after the fight, acting like it was all size that did it. Izzy is 6 ft 4 with 80 inch reach lmao
Looking back at this and for someone who doesnt know Izzy personally im proud of the guy for challenging himself and putting himself on the line with Jan. Big ups. Loved this fight.
He’s fighting little people all the time, why is it impressive to finally fight people his own size? I’d be impressed if he remained at light heavyweight and dominated there…. I’ll give him his dues then.
It’s crazy cause Izzy is such a terror in the MW division but LHW just feels so out of reach for him and everyone in that division could beat him or put up a amazing fight.
Yes because at MW he always has the reach advantage and he knows how to use it very well. But in LHW everybody is as tall as him so he doesnt have one of his biggest weapons
@@yeahboy9585 not really that. adesanya doesn’t care about reach. it’s the fact that LHW fighters are so much bigger than him. he walks around at 205-210 and these LHW fighters walk around at 220+. he’s too small for that division.
Are you kidding me? Its definitely not out of reach for him if he puts on size. He gave Jan a real solid fight and once he figured Jan’s striking out he was beginning to land and then Jan couldn’t stand up with him so he took him down. Jan did real well earlier in the rounds but the size did play a huge factor in Izzy being controlled. I really dont think EVERYONE can beat him in LH but yes a lot of people would control him on the ground.
I’d love to see the bigger fish fight Izzy after giving Izzy a year to do some solid weight training so he could actually come in at an legit 205. He almost got k.o. in this one
I like this fight it really helped both fighters. I hope Jan or Jiri wins the belt so he can see Izzy go back especially that Jiri fight, we Wana see that.
Very entertaining back and forth fight. Jan definitely got the better of Izzy. Especially when they grappled. Risky fight for Jan against a highly skilled striker and risky for Izzy going up in weight. Both champs. Both doing something great 👏
@@1undertakeristhebest Kelvin I'd like 5'7, Romero 5'8 1/2 at the Olympics, whittaker looking up at Izzy at least 4 inch difference. The reach advantage is what kills all those guys. Costa just has t-rex arms, Izzy even said that will be his downfall.
All I gotta say is going up a weight class takes pure balls and ethic. Being a double champ is insane thats why you have to give credit where its due. People like McGregor, Jones, Nunes, Cejudo, and Cormier deserve the upmost respect on their names. Theyve truky mastered their craft.
Problem for izzy was that jan is a similar height and bigger than him. At middleweight izzy is taller and bigger than pretty much everyone. Izzy had to deal with someone that didnt have a significant height and reach disadvantage. Alex periria vs izzy is gonna be interesting.
everytime adsenya actually fights someone his size he gets picked apart Jan was the first example just the pathetic fambois who really wanted him to be great like Silva really would rather brainwash themselves to feel better about something and that’s just a sport couldn’t imagine what they do with real life scenarios not the fake “sport fan world “
@@josephpedley308 can't use that as an excuse bud. That's why weight classes exist… so people can't make excuses about size/weight. Izzy got fucking destroyed here
Would love to see Izzy put on some weight and make a real run at LHW if he beats Pereira. Outside of him, he's essentially cleared the division already. Would be real interested to see a more experienced/heavier Izzy fight the likes of Jiri, Jan, and Rakic.
One of the rare fights I simply have to turn off the sound for. The commentary is excruciating. I'm convinced after the Ankalaev fight that Joe has an issue with Jan, he just always downplays the guy so hard.
