Once Palestinians agree to a peaceful solution that respects both sides they will eventually be greeted by a positive response. In the mean time, tensions remain as Palestinians pursue their agenda of destroying the Jewish state. Recognising Palestine is one thing, recognising Palestinian demands for the destruction of Israel is quite another.

My dad was a soldier in the IDF for 20 years and one time he and his friend were driving through the west bank to get to a Palestinian hospital (he was a medic) and on their way they saw two other soldiers beating up two Palestinians for the crime of getting around their vehicle. They immediately got out of the car and started helping the two Palestinians...the two other soldiers were sentenced to 3 years in military prison. There is good and bad in every group of people...don't generalize.

As a Zionist, I believe in the right of Jews to live safely in Judea and Samaria, which is why I was happy to defend them

They had something like that in Australia about 100 years ago. The same is true for the USA. In any settler colonial formation there is a frontier zone where all the heavy action takes place while behind the settlers are mopping up. This is true for any settler colonial state and it is also true for the State Of Israel. Israel/Palestine is the only active settler colonial conflict still raging. The others wiped out the natives a long time ago. In other parts of the world the natives fought back and kicked the settlers out. In Algeria it took 200 years and over 1 million people got killed. The French learn it the hard way.

And a gazan can’t be a Palestinian gazan. If he lives in Gaza he doesn’t live in Palestine. If they rename Gaza Palestine then they could say they are Palestinian. Again, Palestine was just a name for a piece of land. Not a peoplehood. When it was called Palestine they were called Arabs of Palestine or Palestinian Arabs. And Jews were Palestinian Jews. What you're saying is irrelevant. The concept of modern nation-state is relatively new and so most countries in the world are between 100-200 years old at most. Israel itself existed as an independent, sovereign state only for very few hundred years and was mostly a vassal state of others and this was in a very, very distant past. So what? Israel also shouldn't exist because it wasn't always there?! Also, according to genetic studies Palestinians are local to Israel/Palestine and are mostly Arabized natives. So they should remain there not anywhere else since they aren't from there.
