LONG POST INCOMING! As someone who has completed the core campaign solo, I wanted to toss out my feedback: - 100% agree that having a dedicated space to keep the game set up makes it SO much nicer to put down and pick back up. You can find points to walk away and come back that aren't at the normal save-game point. For me, I liked working all the way through the Ship Book phase, prepping my team, getting through the landing phase, and then leaving the game right at the start of Exploration. Even walking away at the start of a fresh turn during exploration works fine! - As for the Ship Book phase: I really enjoy it because it's an opportunity to do damage control and try to get ahead of your ship's issues every time, which is kind of a fun, slow-burn of a battle, and just a breather between deployments. Plus, it's feeding your away team more, and better equipment. Upgrades, bonuses, and new toys are an inherently fun part of gaming, as the video game industry figured out a long time ago... so I enjoy it for that reason. It's essentially the base/resource management phase of XCOM, which can be both stressful and exciting in my eyes. I can see how 4 player Ship phase might be a bit dull at times. - I also agree that the logbook/story is crucial to this game, and it is really well done, including the voice acting on the app. I would say though, from my experience, the app is generally kind of clunky and hard to navigate besides the VA. I would track all log progress and check boxes in the physical book while using the app. - Price-wise, if you are at all unsure about the game, you can pick up the base game with no frills for $127+tx online. That, my friends, is quite a steal. The added content and deluxe components add a lot, but many of the backer exclusives will only be available through 3rd-party sellers if anything at this point (that's how I ended up getting some after falling in love with the base game). - I do also want to put this out there: 75% into the Lost Fleet expansion, I am kind of disappointed with it. There is a noticeable lack of polish that made the base game so good. Lots of incorrect logbook triggers, the grammar is not as natural in the dialogue, there are spelling errors, and even some errors printed on a couple of the exploration cards. Some of the missions feel much less balanced as well. You have to go into the Errata before playing, and make the edits with a pen if you don't want to run into issues. The logbook (also, no support for LF yet on the app) is just not as engrossing because of the lower-quality writing. It's still a solid B for me, where the core game was an A, but just an FYI to anyone out there.

Quack. I had a pledge started but could never finish it due to money issue. Following the link for latepledge in the description i see it goes to the campaign I pledge for. However it is still close. Will they reopen or a new process will start ?

My sweet spot is solo with three team members instead of the game recommended two. You need that third character to cover more ground and have a few more options available in terms of dice, tools, cards, and specials. All in all this is a must have for lovers of sci-fi, story driven, thematic experiences.

u play in 2 with 2 sector each or only in 2 with 1 sector each?

These may seem like a weird question (and I type this as I'm watching the video), do I need this if I have KDM? Hoping you know what I mean...I know this is in space etc but does KDM scratch the same itch?

Absolutely agree that two player seems to be the sweet spot for this game.

I am playing the Deadly Frontier expansion right now, and the ship phase has more story and has been tightened up a bit, in my opinion.

I have not played either but for people who have which wins unsettled vs iss

Played through it Solo - and generally loved it. Just made a few mistakes which affected the gameplay somewhat. Really could have used a Shira lol :P

After 5 missions I decided it was wrong for me. Not a bad game, just was not enjoying the journey and the grind.

I really wish you guys had continued past the gut check at mid-game, but I accept that the fail forward mechanics just really aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.
