The Dodge D50 was a Mitsubishi product. I had the Mitsubishi 5 speed version and liked everything but and the Jet valve arrangement. A third valve, along with a third runner from the carb (for smog control). Its seals leaked oil into the cylinders while parked, causing quite a huge blue cloud on start up.
I've never seen that type of engine in one. I've worked on a few of the later ones with the fuel injection, but I do know what you are talking about. The 80's smog setups were crazy sometimes!
Yeah, I was pretty sure dodge and Mitsubishi had a thing going on. Now the Chevrolet Luv was a badge engineered Isuzu pup made by Isuzu. Later Isuzu hombre trucks were just Chevy S10s made by Chevy. I'm thinking the Dodge 50 was a Mitsubishi Mighty Max. Also Suzuki Equators were just Nissan Frontiers.
I had a gas one, looked exactly the same but tan (even the long box). I loved that truck and was great with the 5 speed! It finally rusted in half! Haha! Still ran great when it went to the junkyard.
Really Nice Little Truck! I have a 88 Dodge Raider with a bad gas engine and would love to find a small turbo diesel engine (like the Pup has) to repower my Raider. Thank you for sharing such a nice truck.
I borrowed one of these from the car dealership I used to work for when I moved on a Saturday. It was a 5 speed and I remember it would go way faster in 4th gear on the highway .
This is a 1986 model, not 1984. The turbo and 5-speed 4x4 were introduced in 1986. And as others have already said, it's not related to the Dodge/Mitsubishi.
@@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs - The model year is what it is, regardless what the owner said. Even the front bumper is a 1986-only version. But we agree that it's a well preserved specimen. It's really rare to see one with an un-cracked dashboard.
At first glance, I thought the Hood Scoop was an "AUTOZONE Special", but it appears to be Functional. Love to have me a Small Diesel Truck, 4×4 even better! Peace out, -T🖖
Correct. The LUV was dumped in favor of the Chevy S10 and in an odd twist, the Isuzu pickup was dropped for a rebadged S-10 called the Hombre. I was so sad when that happened as I was saving up to buy a Mighty Max or an Isuzu pickup back in 95 only to find both disappeared in 1996. In my opinion, it was the beginning of the end for both manufactures here in the states.
Good ear! Yes, there were a lot of very cool, very old farm pieces there. Hit and miss engines running all kinds of stuff and 3 steam powered tractors. They were running!
@@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs When I was very young my dad bought one and I would be around him when he was working on it. He sold it when he got it running. But we would go to a place I think it is Lancaster PA. Rough & Tumble engineers msm. They would have many steam engines that are permanent mounted like a factory might have some with 5-6 foot flywheels, and steam tractors, some would be running and hooked up to equipment and they would demonstrate how everything worked. They had lot's of hit & miss engines too. Some looked like barn finds and some where painted up and pin striped and looked probably better than when they came out of the factory. Hearing them on your video brought back a lot of good memories. I think I am going to try and get there this summer when they have one of the bigger events. My dad really wanted a truck like that when they first put the diesel in them. So this whole video brought back lot's of great memories of doing stuff with my dad. For that a big thank you. I love the diversity of your video's. I hope someone can guide me with the 1 question I asked about shortvave and the MLA-30+ antenna. I like the shortwave and 2 way radio videos also. I wish you good health and that you can get your work cought up from your injury and I look forward to your future videos. I will also try to tune in to your short wave broadcast.
