Christian Kansichi is correct. What happens when watching all the YT influencers and reviewers is that basically everything sounds like it is garbage or at best "lesser" because it's not an OLED. Even when they say "Oh it's a really great TV for a miniLED, it's not an OLED, but it's very nice". What also happens is that even if an OLED or any TV that is "the best" is that it makes everything sound like it's somehow not worth it. He makes another excellent argument. It always seems about when it comes to MiniLED it's always about finding the flaws, and not the improvements. The improvements get a "sure, it's better" and then glossed over. But that TINY little blooming is "BOOM SEE BLOOMING OLED WINS, GOTCHA B*TCH" (Dave Chappelle, lol). Not saying you guys are saying this. It's more like forums, and journalists and calibrators and reviewers just look for flaws with MiniLED and only praise the minutest changes with OLED. It's lopsided. OLED lovers also seem to be worried as soon as anything MiniLED does well. It's like they get on a mission to tear it down. It's the same as if Car Reviewers would go "It's a great car, but it's not a Bugatti Veyron".
But a Bugatti is not a realistic comparison. LED’s and oleds are very close in price so we have a choice. I don’t have to put a lot of thought into whether I should by a Toyota or Bugatti. That choice is already made for me. lol when I see a mini led that has an overall better picture than oled, then I will switch back. I would choose a G4 over a $30,000 Sony led monitor because it not only looks better to me in most scenes, but it’s going to have better gaming performance. There is nothing wrong with mini led and I don’t think anyone hates it but it’s still not my top choice yet. The Bravia 9 is probably the best led made and it loses to oled in more scenes than not. Also, the rtings tv reviews always give the oleds the highest overall score. I haven’t seen a led out score a high end oled on there in years. Right now, I think the TV’s with the highest score are A95L and G4. Both are oled. These are all the reasons someone might choose Oled over led. Until this changes, it is what it is. I’m just glad we have options and choices.
I must say during the whole stream the QM851G held up against the OLEDs and looked close to the 3110. Not once did I see any image and go, man need that OLED contrast. They all looked so similar. I take it a lot because of YT and camera etc.
Finally made a decision for my home theater between the 83" G4 and 85" Bravia 9. I went with the G4 and am super happy with it! I came from a Sony A9G and really couldnt give up on the OLED technology. Just wanted something a bit brighter, larger for that immersion, and excellent motion and picture processing. Blade Runner 2049 was epic! Thank you FOMO and Brian for keeping the hobby fun!
Improvements over oled can be seen in 5 movies. If you look at the specular highlights for a split second in each movie. What an advancement in technology. Wow. This is really going to take tv's to the next level.
I been using the U8N 65in watching movies and general content for a few days and it's impressive especially for $1099 .. it does have a couple bugs but I'm positive they will be fixed in updates and that's worth saving a thousand dollars in itself
That's a terrific question greendale634!! I think that Robert Zohn should have a separate "heavyweight division" in his Value Electronics Flat Panel Shootout this year, that would include 85" Mini-LED back-lit LCDs, as well as having 83" OLED panels!
@@madpistol Brian received the 75" model earlier but waited for the 85" model without testing it. He looked at both and found the 85" to be the best of all sizes! Same goes for the X95L!
@Stop the fomo, For the Q90r to do tone mapping up to 2500 nits you must lower gamma to - 3, in this way it will follow the eotf correctly, if not the dynamic tone mapping will raise it and clip at exactly 1000 nits.
So I know I said I'm good with my LG C1 until 2026. BUT.... BUT I got a Hell of a deal on the LG C3 and MAN O MAN it is honestly So much better then the C1.. The better Brightness makes all the difference along with the Other features.. Now With that and the 5yr warranty I'm good until 2029. Unless they do something super great and then that comes down in Price..
For $6000 you can get the QNED89T 98" vs $7000 for X90L .. Now Andrew and Kristi Robinson both swear by the X90L 98" .. I want to know if the a8 with precision dimming can outdo the XR with no dimming .. I think it will and at $1000 less right now ..
Guys i really enjoy watching you but what i find on here is most of your fans want you to tell them they bought the best tv especially your oled lovers but like i have said everyone is not a oled fan
off topic but the R646 will go down as a legendary tv the picture quality is stunning till this day even tho it was release in 2021 just a phenomenal tv in every way I really do think that tv was ahead of its time. In my opinion it is the best value tv ever made.
26mins shows the strength of mini-led over OLED, it looks identical to the reference 3110. TCL just single handily pave a new path in high-end display tech. Not to mention 85 inch and up there is no realistic consumer alternative other than mini-led. Micro Led just not there yet.
You know that you are already a whole year behind the Chinese line of TCL TVs, have you never been tempted to get the latest flagship model? Instead of waiting a whole year for it to finally appear in the USA...
I think Fomo Should put up the Bravia 9 when he has it setup ALONE against the 3110 for a stream to show it off like Brian said. Don't do a comparison with other TVs to look for flaws or if it is better or not. It needs to have it's own moment and having the 3110 there is perfectly fine because it is a reference monitor. It is not a consumer TV competitor. It just tells the "truth". I don't want the first thing to hear is how the QM8 is so close and so much cheaper I don't care. I am buying a TV based on it's own features etc. Price is for some of us not the same concern or what we are willing to spend. Then after they can be compared and then talk about budget vs not and so on. There are also things we never really get to see like upscaling and cleaning up of lower res streaming content. Movie comparisons etc. This here for example show how this whole 'OLED or Bust" BS has got to stop. The QM8 is basically going toe to toe and even beating the OLEDS at times with the 3110 telling the truth. There is no giant contrast difference in a lot of content. In a lit room it would be even less noticeable. So I really hope FOMO listens to this. I don't want to see a quarter of a screen with the Bravia 9 instantly compared to other TVs. Show it off first and at most only with 3110. Then do a comparison stream/video, please.
