ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RU-vid and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!

Cammy, raising awarennes of the mental health side is so important. Well done for being so candid. You really convey the sense of utter frustration at things beyond your control. Unless you have been there listening to the wind and rain lashing the window at 2am when you have ewe lambing outside, I dont think you can understand the feeling of dred you know what you will face 4hrs later.

Cammy, I am a farmer from Worcestershire who knows just how much pain and stress you are going through. This weather is relentless and it’s hard to know which way to go next.Im not sure if this is going to be of any use to you but I have some spring barley straw which if you had a friend with a lorry I could give to you. They are 7foot long 6 string bales. You could even put them out in the fields as shelters.Please let me know...Mark😊

As I was growing up my family raised registered Angus cattle. To prevent the cows from calving throughout the year we set the breeding season so that they would calve from January to March. This is not that bad unless it froze or we got snow. There were several mornings where we kids would get up thinking we had school and come into the kitchen where my mom had placed a calf next to the stove to warm it up. You are doing really well keeping everything together.

You not the only one struggling. Took on a lambing after the last bloke got the sack and its a disaster. Malnourished ewes no milk, poor lambs, infact i used to look forward to lambing every year but this year it hellish and i start on the 20th with my own.

I remember when my boys used to do the car seat refusal. Just wait until he learns how to unbuckle. 😂 little Angus is such a chill boy and is really starting to walk good! Thank you for talking about mental health. Farmers have a hard and constant job. You do the best you can with what you have. Sometimes you will make the wrong call and it’s just part of the process. youtube has got it so wrong. People who watch Cammy want to support him because he and the team are doing a fantastic job. We are not upset by blood and gore. Those who advertise because he has such a great following and they know that the audience is not offended because most are doing the same job. So why has RU-vid reduced his vlogs to a peep show, my theory is laziness on RU-vids part. They are too lazy to find people to advertise or so greedy that they want more money.

Your efforts to save the lambs is heroic. Bravo, many don't care as much as you do. Regarding the lambs in the sink. Sandi Brock puts the lambs in a lambing glove and then puts them in warm water. That way they retain the birth smells that mom may recognize, and the lambs get warm, but don't get soaking wet. It may be worth a try.

Lizzy is amazing , thinking to blow that sleeve up into a balloon.👍. It does look like a glorious morning. ❤️. Deep mud on that road. The one in front of the prolapse lamb is a pretty mom and has a pretty baby. The baby with a sick mom has a pretty baby. Spot and Meg are both with you which is nice. There’s the darling Jock. Very cold, wet weather to have to work in for you and the babies. So sorry you have that to deal with. It’s raining and chilly here in Vermont, USA., today , yesterday and two more days, per news reports. Yes, one has to think positive. Oh I remember, my two year olds, even though it was 50. Years ago. They get tired and cranky , like us. They are just littler🥰👍

Oooh, those screetches from Jock when he's fighting getting strapped in give me shivers from memories of my own girl back in the day doing the same thing... All the time! 😬 We had some pretty challenging times with her. Now she's a sophomore in High School so the challenge is getting her to spend time outside of her bedroom as she video chats with her friends! The years fly by... I hope things even out soon as far as weather and lambing issues - I wish I could wrap all of you in nice warm fleece and get some good, hearty stew in your stomachs between your field rounds. Clammy and Lizzie you’re both doing a fabulous job with all your sheep and your adorable kids. This weather has been horrendous I’m praying it improves to give you and all the farmers a break. Cammy I’m pleased you can talk out loud when you’re filming as bottling your thoughts and feelings is so detrimental to your health and well being as well you know.

Hi Cammy, at home I use 3 crystalyx buckets at the front of the little trailer for wet lambs. Keeps them separate to stop mixing and you'd get more ewes in the trailer if you put a little hurdle in front too. It helps if you need to lift a few ewes rather than go back and to. Everyone is different though, but if it helps,thought I'd mention it.

Love you, Lizzie, Jock, Angus and your whole crew. You are the hardest working people around! You all have to be right exhausted by the end of your day. Your videos show everything that it takes to be raising sheep, some days it’s like everything in nature goes against you but you all persevere and carry on. It’s absolutely inspiring. Thank you for bringing us videos through lambing time, severe rain and a mud terrain, it’s really appreciated. ❤❤

It is obvious how much you and Lizzie love the sheep and how diligent you are in caring for both the ewes and their lambs. How you are able to carry on in the weather and rise above the sadness of your losses is nothing short of amazing. Holy crap what a life you guys live. We play at being “farmers” with 10 ewes and some goats. I used to feel exhausted after kidding or lambing. Since I started watching you a year or so ago I realize I’m just an old wimp. You are all amazing. We play the sheep game-you live the sheep life. There’s no comparison. Thanks for the videos.

We're at the tail end of breeding season in Southern New Mexico. Lambing will start on Aug 15. I would happily trade you some sunshine for some rain. I don't think you want our windy cold fronts with blowing dust. You will get through it but sometimes you wonder how. 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

Cammy, keep it up, it seems overwhelming but ya doin great! If ya ever need, take a proper rest. Ps... ya talking to us but yourself really, had me cracking up. Ya sound like a mix of my geordie Dad, and Perthshire granddad, having a laugh at their own jokes to ease their own mood when things are going sheit. Keep ya head up, give ya self a pat for having been there for as many lambs ya been able to get to. Thank you for your candid and real perspective.
