In this episode, I install 2021 Tahoe PPV front brakes on my 2007 Escalade. These brakes are a massive upgrade over the stock units, and is an easy project with a massive performance upgrade. All parts are from Rockauto. Here is the list of parts needed:
Rotors (2): Powerstop AR82209EVC. tinyurl.com/4jzyjprk
GM 6 piston caliper - left: GM 84793057: tinyurl.com/35ct3nbe
GM 6 piston caliper - right: GM84793058: tinyurl.com/y9dtxcz4
GM caliper bracket bolts (4): GM 11612265: tinyurl.com/yx7b5jc6
GM banjo bolts (2): GM 11569590: tinyurl.com/4h9xyufh
GM crush washers (bag of 10, need only 4): tinyurl.com/bdd4z9df
Powerstop brake pads: tinyurl.com/4jb6xad2
I found the best prices at Rockauto. There might be other vendors with competitive pricing, but I always had good deals with Rockauto.

@littlemissgracing6515
@littlemissgracing6515 11 месяцев назад
For the price, there is no reason to go to anything smaller IMHO. The only catch is to make sure your wheels clear. Mine did. There is no comparison between this and the stock brakes. You know the truck will stop, and will stop very quickly. I now wish the rears are ready for change, so I can do the C7 4-piston rear upgrade.😁

Excellent video! Quick question, I have the same rims, did you have to shave the caliper down any?
@littlemissgracing6515
@littlemissgracing6515 Месяц назад
No I didn’t. The clearance was very tight though between the caliper and rim (less than 1/8” iirc). It’s my opinion that each truck is going to be slightly different when trying to center the caliper over the disc, so test fit to make sure

@BRAKEWORLD_SC 4 месяца назад
Hi great video, very detailed. I am installing this kit on the previous generation tahoe 2007-2020. The only thing I couldn't find is the fender washer to space out the caliper. What size or part number did you use for this? Also what is the part number for the new bleeder screw that is necessary as you had mentioned it had a different thread pitch. Thanks for making this video!
@littlemissgracing6515
@littlemissgracing6515 4 месяца назад
I used a 9/16” ID washer, the thickness of a quarter. In my experience, there is no exact thickness as the GM knuckle castings are not perfect, and you will not get consistency. You are trying to center the calipers to the rotors, so yours might need a different thickness, or a couple of washers. As far as bleeder screws, those come with the calipers. It’s the banjo bolts that supply the calipers with brake fluid that are different from stock. The part numbers for the banjo bolts are listed in the description. Thanks

The PPV brakes severely limit your wheel selection. These are NOT the GMPP kit as they have less material machined from the radius near the center. Only wheels that have an immediate offset from the hub will work. High country wheels are one example. In and around town, won't notice, but stopping from 80+mph or braking with a trailer or load is improved dramatically.
@littlemissgracing6515

Both the original 22” wheels and the later model wheels I just put on clear those brakes without any issues. The spare might be a problem but I will deal with it later.

Will this setup work with a big set up wheels 28 inch rims with a +18 offset
@littlemissgracing6515
@littlemissgracing6515 2 месяца назад
AFAIK, offset should not matter. It’s the dish of the spokes that could interfere or clear the calipers. If the spokes curve outward, they would clear the calipers, but if they curve inward, they might hit the calipers.

One other note on the rear upgrade. If you add up the costs of the parts to convert to the Corvette calipers, you’ll easily be in the $1000+ range, and still end up with factory sized rotors. Also, finding used base C7 Corvette calipers on EBay, and for reasonable price, has been a challenge. So my plan is to come up with an alternative setup with larger rotors. I am doing some research on it, and am hoping to find a solution this coming year. Stay tuned.
