Chuck dominated for about 25 years. Will be interesting to see how Dave Hoff adapts as he gets older. 🔥

I'm not a fan of equipped lifting so, to my shame, I've never really paid attention to or given credit to Dave Hoff. But the man is smart and he's well spoken and he's forgotten more about training than I'll ever know. New found respect.

I live in Columbus Ohio and none of these guys are even close to as strong as the numbers claim they use that equipped lifting style and it's just I've never seen one of these guys ever bench 500 lbs without that shirt I'm sure some of them have done it but why don't they post videos of them doing that and I don't mean benching it off of a board or mention it with rubber bands attached to it I'm talking about laying down flat on their back pushing up 500 lb with no assistance I got to 465 at my absolute Peak and I was a pretty genetically strong guy and I died out at that and never got the 500 now I'm 49 and I don't really lift that heavy like I used to but when I was really into it I was trying my damndest to get to that and I've never seen do that and I've never seen a 500 lb bench in the gym these guys claiming their bitching 900 and things like that have you ever seen Dave Hoff with his shirt off he looks like he doesn't even have any muscle even have any muscle muscle development that you need to get

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a powerlifter who was more explosive than Dave Hoff.

Damn this speaks to me, I've been overzealous about my PRs. I've gotten really strong really fast and then crashed and was unable to sustain it. It's all about the "long haul" as Dave Hoff puts it.

That was awesome hearing the Dave barno reference. I remember seeing him at the gym back in PA. He was definitely one strong lifter

dude only speaks in platitudes 😁

Well, a platitude carries a negative connotation in regard to being useless...some of the things Hoff said in this podcast certainly made me think.

Can you name a powerlifter who explains his training better?

I respect Hoff’s accomplishments, but this GOAT talk with Hoff should be noted that his lifts are asterisked in it’s own category, equipped lifting. He’s not the powerlifting GOAT, that title should reserved for those with minimal to zero equipment and with lifts under a universally acknowledged stricter rule set (squat depth, pause on the bench, locked out deadlift), and a against a higher talent pool as well.
@bryanstellfox8521

Two different sports IMO. I've only seen 1-2 world class raw lifters transition to geared lifting and successfully compete at the highest levels.
@bryanstellfox8521
@bryanstellfox8521 2 года назад
Also, Ed Coan was a geared lifter...are you saying Ed Coan shouldn't be included in the powerlifting GOAT conversation?
@DynomyteDewd91
@DynomyteDewd91 2 года назад
@@bryanstellfox8521 if you’ll read what I wrote, I said the universally acknowledged label of goat should be reserved for guys with minimal to zero suited equipment. Ed Coan had minimal equipment, and his minimal equipment was lighter than even some of the raw standards today, his Ace bandages were lighter than the knee sleeves of today, and his squat suit was basically a singlet, not much give at all. However, I did acknowledge that I respect Hoff for his accomplishments because he’s the best in mult-ply lifting, however I don’t think multi ply lifting is where the true pinnacle of power lifters are due to judging standards among other variables.
@billymimnaugh3998
@billymimnaugh3998 Год назад
He’s completely dominating his sport .Guys total less then 300 then him when he lifts .He’s been dominating for 20 years .Not two or three years , 20 years .
@DynomyteDewd91
@DynomyteDewd91 Год назад
@@billymimnaugh3998 very small talent pool in multi-ply. Much larger talent pool in the modern raw era of lifting.
