Colette, I caught myself nodding aggressively through your “rant”. The good humans of this world deserve better. I would like to add, that this video took me back to 10 years old and my grandma‘s house. I was blessed to grow up with no neighbors, and so many wonderful days of sitting in her kitchen listening to her talk. The ticking of that clock was intense healing.

I totally agree with you! I went back to college as an older adult for a Corporate Communications degree and I was disgusted with how many classes were about manipulation and trickery. It’s all for money and getting ahead, Not providing a good service or product or about helping others. I am an Art teacher and had to go back to add to my continuing education. What an eye opener! I’m sticking with Art, caring and service. Thanks for posting about this topic.

True dat. Meanwhile we keep having item after item in the "news" about "celebrities" - be they film stars, influencers, "royalty", whatever. So I sit there and think "Why would I be any more interested in that person than any other person - and meanwhile what is the actual real News?".

WE all need a good rant on a regular basis these days! I would rather listen to your lovely voice rant than watch the news. I have to limit myself to how much news I watch. The corporate greed is disgusting and politicians are doing NOTHING about it. I am often grateful that my parents are not around to see what this world has come to. I know they would be heartbroken.

"They" (at least here in the U.S.) want us to focus on things that are addictive: legalized weed, sports betting, compulsive shopping, feelings of outrage, false religions, food, fear... I could go on and on. I realize that it's late in life for me to discover a major poet, however....I've discovered John Keats. At age 25 he had hundreds of times more wisdom than the vast majority of middle aged Americans. Because he allowed himself to see things as they are.
As a young person who has lived with media propaganda my whole life, I’m at the stage where they could say “the grass is green” and I’d think “what are they trying to sell me.” That’s why we feel so very lost. Colette, yours is one of the few voices of true wisdom that make sense. Thank you 🌱

So true Collette, the rubbish and lies (CRAPOLOGY) on msm is infuriating. My husband and l stopped watching commercial television over 30 yrs ago because of that reason. We choose to research information ourselves, and yes have gladly been awake to everything that is now happening in this world, and the reasoning behind it all. We brought our 3 sons up to be critical thinkers, and to not always believe in the narrative unless they've researched it themselves, and to always ask questions. This has of course, caused differences with in the family, and friends over the years and can become frustrating. We would love to now say, 'we told you so.' But that's normally met with a glazed look of sheer denial. We enjoy our own company, now and then meeting strangers who are aware of the change, but like us are able to push forward without carrying it all on their shoulders. I have stopped watching the news. I do read the papers, etc, and I get info from YT channels that I then confirm. I refuse to pay for news channels that do not tell the whole story, and I am cutting the cable cord when my current contract is over.

I used to read various types of print media: national papers, news magazines, but these are no longer in my budget. Public radio, tv, (government funded)is government influenced. On line print media is mostly blocked unless one pays for monthly subscription. Now I just keep up with news in my little place in the world and tune into a few RU-vid creators. I don't have tv so no longer have to put up with their garbage. I live in a small house in Brittany France , enjoy my time with my 2 dogs & kitty. Hello from New Hampshire Colette. Most everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt these days. I have to take the stance that I will be assaulted the moment I turn on the TV. And now we have A.I. filtering in, like Alice in Wonderland. What is real on the internet?? QUESTION EVERYTHING is the cynical side of the world, but what choice is given to us? Thank God I received the bulk of my education years ago before all this media rubbish. For me common sense prevails, but I feel sorry for those taken in. Its no way to live. Colette, you said it! You said it very well. You are spot on. The mainstream media lost its independence and verisimilitude at least 15-20 years ago (if not earlier!). I learnt in the early 2000s not to trust CNN and also understood that Al Jazeera had huge stakes in the so called Arab Spring. I had stopped reading newspapers long ago (except for the op-eds and interesting analysis of global issues). I turned to Twitter and became very active on it till it revealed itself to be the hellscape that it is till today. Because Twitter (now known as X) is free it became a weapon for various propaganda platforms and was used with impunity to drown out neutral voices or rational debates. I found this to be true when Modi was elected PM in India in 2014. His campaign managers had let loose armies of trolls to scare and shout down people. I finally left Twitter when Trump tried to engineer a revolution in America and exhorted his supporters to storm the Senate. I am completely switched off and am skeptical of even the temperature that’s reported officially because I know it’s wrong (I have apps installed that tell me the correct temperature in various parts of the country I live in). Your description of this era being an era of deception is so accurate. Every bit of news and information is manipulated and twisted to suit agendas, propaganda and strengthen government control over the people.

Love a good rant! Your topic reminds me of Huxley's novel Brave New World, where grown adults were infantilized and then condemned if they tried to do too much thinking, as if an individual thinking analytically was dangerous to society. A good journalist should challenge our thinking instead of anaesthetizing us. Also, that paint makes the colors of the glass art in the windows pop!
It's also the sheer arrogance of these people who assume we're all morons that gets my goat - one day they will realise that we're not and then they'll be finished! Not sure what you heard that triggered this, but the news in the US has been this way for as long as I can remember (I started paying attention as a teen in the 90s and it was bad even back then). I find it best to read world news from varying sources (El Pais, La Monde, Al Jazeera, for example-they all have different view points) and check my sources for everything. We have a problem of parading opinion pieces as news over here, and it’s all to outrage people into picking sides (and both sides are guilty of this).
I agree! We have the same thing in the US. No information about what our state officials are doing and flooding with stories about someone rescuing a cat or starting a cup cake store.

Healthy to have a good old rant every now and again. The truth regarding the media, I’m afraid, is “same as it ever was”. From a 40,000 foot perspective, religious institutions and the media have always been in the business of quasi-governance and therefore arms of the State. I'm in a place where we are lucky to have very good radio and local paper news. Its very local but the journalists all live here and the stories matter as much to them as to us. We are very fortunate in this. All the big media is owned by so very few people who have vested interests. SO crazy. I will never miss your rants!
Your rants are terrific! They contain so much truth and wisdom and I'm hoping that they get people to wake up and think. Abot 30 years ago I was working for Public Television in the US. One day I stopped the president of the organization and asked him why no one is talking about the fact that a small handful of families were buying up all the bandwidth in the world so they could control what everyone in every country hears and sees. They can pit one against the other and manipulate people's beliefs. He just smirked and said "We don't talk about that." Well...I do! It's a giant chess game of manipulating the world, how nefarious can things get! On the other hand, I love the way your kitchen is coming out, it's so sunny and joyful. Love your new kitchen colors. It makes the space bright , cheerful and cozy. I agree with the rest of your rant. One of your viewers didn’t agree and commented on climate change. I used to think “cloud seeding “ was a conspiracy theory. Then I decided to do my own investigation. I found tons of jobs online for pilots to do “cloud seeding.” (Canada). Then I found the companies looking for these pilots openly said on the website it was for “weather modification “. So yes climate change is man made - but not necessarily the way the mainstream media is saying it’s happening. I’ve shown this information to friends and they are shocked because many people don’t realize it’s real. Once your eyes are opened, you can’t close them anymore.
