I mean there was a time in the not to distant past when the only “black” hair style in games was a giant 70s Afro. And it was out there mostly for laughs. So while this style may be a bit out of date and overused it’s at least an attempt to try to do more

I think it's less that game devs forgot that other black hairstyles existed and more that they utterly failed to consider black hairstyles in the first place. If I had a nickel for every time a character creation is praised by most for its depth of customizability yet somehow still literally has no black hairstyle options...

The one character I think gets a pass on this is Ekko. His hair used to be a mohawk, the swoop was a way to keep his aesthetic while actually respecting his blackness.

What’s worse, this or the black/dark skinned nerd cliché in almost all games nowadays? I feel like it’s something they have to do to soften up the character because devs think they can’t be likable if they were just, you know, black.

This dude got the most fucked edge up ive seen. nobody should be talking about hair when they Fade look like that.

It looks cool. Its the black version of the undercut that all the white male protagonists get.

There's not enough black devs in the space and especially not enough black leads and seniors which leads to this repetitive hairstyle popping up all the time now. My fellow black devs and I are pretty tired of it.

I don't think I've ever seen fishbone braids in a character creator outside of NBA2K, and that's just because Allen Iverson wore them.

When the first looks of prince of Persia appeared i said to my friend wow it's looks totally like villian from Black panther. I mean 1to1. They should have designed it more different. So because it is villian hairstyle for me now, i look at prince and see bad guy. I totally forgot Bangalore from apex (cus she have different skins). It's cool hairstyle but cmon, be more creative. I understand that designers prob gave 10 best variations of hair to the bord to choose. Not designers fault but the people who have final decisions.
