Why would he change anything? He has one of the most profitable franchises in any sport across the globe. As long as people go to the games and buy jerseys, he has no reason to change.
1k running back season has always sounded like a solid benchmark if you never think about a RB doesn't have to reach even 60 yards in a single game the entire season...and still hit 1000.
1200 imo is the new benchmark. That's equivalent to 1000 in 14 games which is when 1000 yards was genuinely impressive and showed you were a top back. 1100 is around what 1000 was in 16 games.
@@michaelkelly8221I don't think Pollard sucks, but he does need a backfield partner. He will be better and the running game overall will be better with a 1-2 punch back there.
In the mid 90s, Jerry Jones fired head coach Jimmy Johnson SOLELY on ego. 3 chips but Jerry wanted it to be all about him. And he's spent the past three decades trying to prove he can win with anyone at head coach because he thinks he some football genius. And every year they fall short because he refuses to change. He won't relinquish control over ANY football operations, with is why he's both owner and GM, and he only wants yes men in the front office and coaching staff. It took him FOREVER to fire a mediocre Jason Garrett and it's gonna take him probably longer to pull the plug on McCarthy because he keeps the Cowboys looking good in the regular season. TBH, part of me thinks JJ stopped caring years ago. He owns the most valuable franchise all of sports, and fans pour money and support into merch, ticket sales, etc. no matter how much a let down the team is in the end. Why fret over not being champions when you laugh to the bank anyway?
Yep...I boycotted in 2008 when I realized that Jerry will NEVER get his ego under control and hire the right coaching staff that will bring in the right players to get back to the winning tradition! I was hoping more fans would boycott so we could send a message to Jerry but too many don't have the balls to boycott so why would Jerry change if weak people continue to watch and spend money at Jerry World, it doesn't give Jerry ANY incentive to do anything different when he's still making money, the weak fans apparently don't understand that! VERY frustrating! To this day I STILL don't watch the Cowboys and won't until Jerry has either died or sold to another owner, I had to disconnect so I don't have to deal with the expected disappointment EVERY f-ing year!
They could improve on their shitty run defense. That can be blamed on Quinn for scheming or Jones because he’s the one making the signings and draft picks, or perhaps both.
The biggest issue every year is Jerry. The Cowboys would be so much better if they had a head coach who wasn't just a yes man. I'm a Giants fan so I see the Cowboys play a lot and their roster is legit Super Bowl caliber and has been for a while, but their coaching is terrible.
The problem is dak Prescott. He sucks specially in playoffs time he chokes he literally sucks ass he scared to play and scared to get hurt he’s not a true quarterback. Cowboys need a quarterback that wants to win every game 📞👈
@@Blunts2123 They are both problems. But I do think that getting a new owner would be the best fix to all of the Cowboys' problems. Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, Jerry will never sell the team.
@@Blunts2123 You can win a Super Bowl with Dak. No, he isn't elite. But the root problem is not Dak. It's the culture. They need a hard nosed coach to have a chance! They have enough talent.
@@truthtransistorradio6716 bro if you go back five years and look all the time dak choke you will see the problem. Because everyone else on the team plays like they wana win but dak the only one choking and never will take us to super bro look at the Eagles quarterback he barely came in the league and already took the eagles to the Super Bowl but they didn’t winn
The root of the Cowboys' weakness is simply Jerry Jones. His ego, micromanagement, and public scrutiny of his own coaching will continue to keep the Cowboys from being a team, as they'll remain without a group personality until they can get a coach in-house who can be allowed an actual leadership position. As long as Jerry is the overbearing dad there, the coaches are only the older brother. When things start to get stressful, there's no cohesion, the team doesn't gain strength from each other, and THAT has been their personality since Jerry starting meddling and publicly undercutting his own people. This team cannot survive the playoffs because their talent can't overcome their cancerous leadership.
Most NFL owners don't know SQUAT about football. They just show up to the games hoping for results. Jerry Jones is one. He's a Oil Tycoon and that's about it. Until he kicks the bucket the Cowboys won't win a DAMN thing 😂
@@yaahlabanyamyan144tbf to Jerry, while he never played the NFL he was also a team captain for a national championship team in Arkansas, it was how he was able to lure away Jimmy Johnson from Miami in the first place, he's not like David Tepper or Dan Snyder in that respect. I'd say at this point, he's more like late stage Al Davis where he knew what he was doing at one point but went senile and lost his touch.
Steelers are used to winning tons of close games where they throttle teams with pass rush. If teams stop the rush, or run the ball well they can get run out of the building. Where do you find offenses that can do this, in the playoffs. On the flip side, their offense is nothing special so when a team moves the ball consistently its over.
There were charts all year showing that Dak was the QB who benefited the most from playing teams with bad defenses and bad offenses. There were stats showing that he prefers certain throws. That was the perfect set up for Joe Barry (the Packers DC). Remember Joe Barry has done this before. He was part of the 2018 Rams staff that bet that in the divisional round that Dak could not move the ball consistently if you took away the deep, sideline routes. The Rams were proven right. On Sunday, there was more safety rotation, but Barry won with more or less the same approach. Dak has not improved since 2018. ... Barry exposed him.
I’ve got friends who are Steelers and Bills fans. They were saying “no way Dallas doesn’t fire McCarthy” and I told them, just wait. I promise nothing will change. Jerry is all talk about how bad he wants another ring, because if he was serious, he would remove himself from franchise outside of owner
I think the run scheme in Dallas is the problem not Pollard. Its kind of a similar deal with the Eagles. I dont know if there is statistics for this but id put money that outside runs is where Pollard thrives. Hes not this big bruising kind of back like Zeke was yet they use him in a similar way. He seems to be quite good as an outside rusher with decent physical upside but they give him so many inside runs. Would love to see him in a similar rushing scheme like a Jahmyr Gibbs
@@drewnolde2674I heard someone say Gibbs is the lightning and Montgomery is the thunder and it’s such a perfect description of why the lions run game works so well. they are both different but very effective and having them together removes having all the pressure to rush on one singular guy all game.
Dak should be with another team imo, he's just not the answer for the cowboys. Dak is a really good qb just not in this situation and it might be late for it to be any different
Putting Micah parsons in coverage tells me all I need to know about Dan Quinn. This cowboys team needs an owner change and coaching change. The fact that Dak and Deedee were on fire and McCarthy decides to run the ball is idiotic. Daks 2nd pass came in on the second quarter with only a minute left. McCarthy is ass
The problem is ALL their QB's are NOT good enough. Dak 'can' throw but so can a lot of people playing out of position. The truth is that he's not a NATURAL QB. His mechanics are terrible, he's built like a TE, he can't seem to read multiple options, when the pressure comes out, he can't adjust or excel in high stakes situations. He just doesn't have an extended skill set but he's paid more money than Stafford who is, for all his faults and WAY more talented QB. Jones and Dallas by extension are in a no win situation and Trey Lance is NOT the answer either.
The problem has always been mentality and that problem begins at the very top with Jerry and his choice of coaching hires. I love Dak, but he’s simply not a strong enough leader in the locker room to inspire the team to come back from behind when all the chips are on the table. As much as folks love bashing on Dak for choking I’d say it’s equally worth mentioning how mediocre the coaching has been for years now.
I will never understand how a man on the internet speaks about another man’s leadership qualities having never met him or anyone who has been around him. Very odd
I appreciate the Cowboys give us levity every January, but this year was particularly baffling because that is not a team lacking talent. I just flat out don't understand how they can go into a wild card game and look like they spent all week practicing checkers, not football. Maybe they're finally at the point where the sheer pressure to advance in the playoffs has them playing tense and nervous. I imagine the season after Jerry passes, they'll finally advance to the NFC championship game.
They also didn't lack talent in 2007, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2022! The problem is the culture! You can make the playoffs on talent alone. But you need team discipline, focus and motivation to get past the divisional round! This was one of the most extreme cases of getting our asses whipped by a lesser team! Not because they were that good. We sucked! Nobody showed up to play! That's on coaching! All year, we saw a lack of discipline and McCarthy NEVER gets in the faces of players! Until that changes, we won't improve.
Dude I've been thinking the same thing. The year Jerry passes away or the year right after will FINALLY be the year that the Cowboys can actually win a playoff game.
@@suxix7312 But I agree with the pressure. That comes back to coaching. A great coach is not just about Xs and Os, or even managing a game. It's about getting the players psychologically prepared to play their best. Or to make adjustments when needed at half time. That simply did not happen!
@truthtransistorradio6716 yes I mean get to the NFC championship game at the very least. If Jerry is gone they may actually win it all. I was 5 years old the last time they were really good. And yes my Eagles had that same issue with coaching at the end of the season. Team just quits.
I said Monday Jerry wouldn't make a move. I knew it. He loves to spite Dallas Cowboys fans. This year alone, I spent a lot of money on this team. I attended games in San Fran & Wash. Not to mention the mechandise I forked over. I say that to say this. I will forever be a Cowboys fan. But next year, I will not financially support this team. I'm not spending a dollar on this team. With an owner egotistical owner. This move is to spite the fans. And to hang onto someone who's a yes man and he has beers with after the game. Cowboys fans always saying "Get rid of Dak (although I believe Dak would be better with better coaching), and Mike," but that's fool gold. No change will happen until Jerry steps down.
This right here. This right here is why Jerry secretly doesn't care about winning. The reason why the Cowboys are such a valuable sports franchise is because SO many fans feverishly dump money into it in merch and tickets.
That's exactly why Jerry Jones doesn't care. Because Cowboys fans continue to spend money purchasing merchandise and buying tickets to their games. It's really all about money for him.
My opinion on Dak (and basically most QBs) is this: If you move on from him, who the hell do you replace them with? Elite QBs aren't exactly in high supply in the NFL.
It's long past time for that conversation. One thing is always certain with the Cowboys as it is in all of Texas. In January, when the weather gets cold, the power will go out
When the team brands itself as that, you have a target the size of the country on your back. Plus, this dates back when DAL had 3 Lombardis in the 70’s.
Good God. At least on the plays you showed Pollard didn't have a chance. That O-line is definitely not similar to the one the Boys had a few years ago.
I try to talk about my pain of being a 22 year old Cowboys fan to my 70 year old Packers fan grandpa. He always just says how we used to smack them in the 90s. I don’t think he understands I literally don’t know how it feels to win. He literally bandwagoned the Packers when they were winning Championships every year before the SB era and has gotten to witness 4 superbowl wins. I got stuck with my team from my dad (who bandwagoned them in the 90s). I am the only mf in my family who DIDNT bandwagon as a matter of fact. And all I get for that is PAIN.
older football fans don’t seem to fully realize the glories of yesteryear haven’t been experienced by younger generations. as a commanders fan born in ‘99, i sympathize greatly with you my friend - and i can also tell you the common denominator for any franchise’s failure is ownership
@@nickl3377 at least we strongarmed our shitty owner into selling - no way josh harris is worse than snyder. y’all are stuck with jerry until he dies, and even then you’ll be stuck with his son stephen
You can’t sit here and talk about his stats and regular season record without talking about their history vs teams with winning records or playoffs teams.
This just shows the team has weaknesses that aren't exposed in regular season. It happens to a lot of teams that aren't Cowboys, just Cowboys think they are perfect. They could not stop the run, which kills pass rush and their DBs arent good. Offense can't run well themselves, so can't keep other O off the field.
I'm gonna have to go on a blackout because these Cowboys are frustrating the crap out of me and everyone with WiFi is twisting the knife. - This team was not prepared for Sunday and this falls on coaching. Dan Quinn will likely take another job and Mike McCarthy is gonna stay. I don't believe it. I love Dak, but he's too inconsistent in the playoffs and can't elevate his game when it matters. That is not a $60 million QB and if I owned them, I would trade Dak to a QB needy team and try to get a Russel Wilson esque deal from teams like ATL DEN or even WASH! I feel the team is better off trying to hold onto Lamb and Parsons. This team did go 5-1 a year ago with Cooper Rush as the starting QB. Tyron Smith and Zac Martin are aging and I would like this team to start drafting O-Line now. Tyler Smith was a good addition and we need to resign center Biadiz this offseason. Tony Pollard is likely gone so this team will also need a running back. I would prefer a bruiser if we can find them.
Feel like you NEED an elite QB to win in todays NFL, UNLESS the team is perfect around you like the Lions or Niners, the cowboys have 1 good receiver and no run game so it honestly makes sense why they aren’t winning big games
Man Jordan Love was chucking floaters off his back foot., had the Wide Receivers not been soooooo wide open they had their own zip code ..those should have been picks or batted down..
The entire Dallas team shat the bed, which points to problem somewhere in the coaching. Hard to say what it is, but they did not look at all prepared, they did not look like they had practised the coverages they would face, and the way the Packers like to play (the Packers are not a good defence due to their DC). The defensive plan was just not good, with too much emphasis on DBs and standing off and not enough on what the team does well. This is a hallmark of McCarthy coached teams. We watched it play out how many times with Green Bay? They would smash people in the regular season and then not turn up in the playoffs. I know the Cowboys have said they will bring back McCarthy, but he is part of the problem here.
The 1000 yard rushing per season threshold was a standard when the league was in its infancy. With 17 games in a season now, it's not impressive at all, coming it at less than 60 yards per game. 100 yards per game as an average is a more notable threshold, which would mean a RB needs 1700 yards in a season for it to be something to brag about. Pollard's output was mediocre at best and nothing to be impressed about this year, despite high expectations.
Dan Quinn spent the week before the Packers game focused on lining up interviews and doing inverviews for other jobs. He made no game plan. The defense was completely unprepared because of Quinn and it showed.
Paying Dak anything north of 40 mil / year is a bad deal. He’s a 30 something mil / year talent. The Cowboys really should just let him play out this year to get that cap hit behind them before the younger players cap hits go up and if Dak can get more elsewhere then that’s one team you know you can beat.
It is fairly easy to see where the Cowboys went wrong. They should have signed Dak to an extension BEFORE franchising him all those times. It destroyed their Salary Cap situation and affected their draft choices (they kept having to use picks to replace players that they could not re-sign.
First time I've really disagreed with you. Eight years is enough time to prove your competence/incompetence. "Sign a long term deal" with Prescott? No freakin' way, man. No freakin' way.
@@creepycrespi8180 Of course not, but my point was the offense didn't matter, even the best would have lost as long as the defense was so utterly helpless.
I think the Saquon part at the end offers video is underrated from this standpoint. He’s what 26? And in RB years you might as well be a rookie 😂 I know some many fans myself included want king Henry but Saquon, not that he is could be a consolation prize for anyone who gets him & nor Derrick. The penn state with him and Micah being alum is there & we seen guys jump in division before for various reasons

I’m sorry, but if a team kills their opponents in the regular season year after year, and then fails spectacularly in the playoffs year after year, I mean this is so obviously 95% on the coaching staff. Obviously the players are showing over and over again that they have the ability to defeat their opponents, but when the big games come and the bright lights turn on, your opponents are ALWAYS going to have top level talent, AND some of the best coaching staffs in the business. If you don’t have the coaching staff to draft superior game plans, AND you lack the ability to adjust to situations effectively on the fly, then guess what - those flaws are going to be exposed and exploited year after year after year after year after year. Take Dak here - let’s just say hypothetically that Dak for some reason does indeed have a knack for choking in the playoffs…. It shouldn’t take long for an effective coaching staff to figure this out. So pray tell why has the game plan and approach not been adjusted to reflect this? Why haven’t things been adjusted in such a way to give the kid a chance to get some confidence in these big games? This is kind of basic math in my mind - even if that problem was real, there are plenty of ways to address that issue and I think it’s pretty clear that Cowboys fans haven’t seen any of that, yes or no? I mean it simply doesn’t take long for all the other teams to figure these “fraudu-coaches” out, so the results will be verrrrry consistent - those guys on the field will understand weaknesses in coaching literal YEARS before sports media figures it out. Look I don’t even watch football religiously anymore I basically keep up with things on RU-vid - maybe that gives me a less emotional perspective? But I mean if this dude is just straight up SLAYING it for the majority of the games they play, but when it comes down to brass tax everything falls apart - BRUH how is ANYONE talking about this QB? Whether it’s the QB coach or whether it’s more coaches involved or whatever man there is a clear failure in that organization at the coaching level and above, if this hasn’t been addressed yet. I know people tend to freak out when coaches get fired so quickly after losing just a few playoff games, but man there is a REAL reason for that lol. At this level of play, frauds simply get exposed SO damned fast, as soon as they come up against the best minds in the business - and then all the sociopathic silver mouthpiece crap that got them where they are, suddenly gets exposed for the empty nonsense that it is. And they get canned.
Jerry really hasn’t been a bad GM in terms of roster. Is he a little too loyal to players? (Zeke) Yes. Does he get wrapped up in hype even when a player is a headcase? (T.O) Yes! But there have been several times that the roster has been high caliber since the 90s. He’s landed some great talent in the draft. His issue is mostly his coaching hires being yes-men.
Jerry hasn't made a competent decision since 1989......so give me a f-ing break! Jerry is the common denominator when it comes to 28 years without a Superbowl appearance! And as long as the idiots keep watching the Cowboys and spending money at the games Jerry has NO incentive to do anything different!
If I ran this team: Draft a Running Back, trade him before paying him, draft another, Draft Lineman and Linebackers, Open the Roof and Doors for every home game, gotta toughen up everyone including the fans, Encourage fans to be loud at appropriate times, Hiring a hypnotist to make Dak think post season games are regular season games, 😂
The cowboys offensive line has been one of the best units of all time and is largely been responsible for the success of Dak Prescott Ezekiel Elliott Tony pollard and DeMarco Murray. But they are aging and once that line falls apart Dallas is not going to be the team that they have been for the last decade. When skill position players suddenly fall off we look at every reason under the Sun except the offensive line the main reason 90% of the time (discounting injuries)
Jerry has the final say on everything done within the organization. The problem is his decision making. Hence why we can’t ever keep it together when it’s clutch time. Forever a cowboys fan but man it’s frustrating.

The problem is that JJ sinks tons of money into players he thinks he "needs" . And then then hes stuck with them for 5 years- and we innevitably end up getting beat but younger fresher hungrier teams, because JJ has already sunk so much money into the roster that he's afraid to change it up. Like how can we justify paying these dudes 50 mil a pop when Brock Purdy is only costing 1 mil? I think people just join Dallas to ride the money the train, and they dont really care whether they win or not bc they rich as hell either way.
It would be one thing if the Cowboys blew leads in their string of playoff disappointments, but if you look at the record they consistently fall behind big early. Idk how with all the talent and hype they manage to come out flat as a board every winter but this Giants fan is not complaining.
they will get rid of a couple of position coaches and maybe an assistant, but they'll keep all the people that are the problem. HERE'S THE DEAL - Jerry Jones destroyed the Dallas Cowboys 25 years ago. Studies show franchises become less profitable the closer they get to the superbowl, and are least profitable when they lose all their games. So Jones keeps the personnel and coaches in line to possibly win the division, go the playoffs, and MAYBE win a playoff game, but that's it. Jones owns the team to make money, not win Super Bowls. When he got his big stadium, that was the icing on the cake and Jones is going to milk the business for profit until he's gone. They pay McCarthy $4M/yr. Jones meets all his business goals with the Cowboys. Why would Jones change anything??? About 10-15yrs ago, a reporter asked Jones what he thought about the lack of success since the late 90's, and Jones said, "You see that stadium over there, you look at that stadium and tell me the Cowboys are not successful."
This is a good take. Players have been telling us "It's a business" for 40 years and we just refuse to accept it, thinking they care so deeply about bringing a championship home "for the fans." High schools teams do that. Division 2 teams do that. Maybe even the Tide, since they're kind of all Alabama has on the national front. But pros? Come on. They lose, look suitably dejected for the cameras, pack up their lockers and go on vacation for a few months. Tell me a guy who grew up dirt poor in the projects or in some speck on a map would choose a Super Bowl ring over 30 million guaranteed and I'd say you're delusional. This channel is good, but I'm convinced he doesn't understand the true priorities of pro football. Wins are nice. Going to the playoffs is nice. Winning the Super Bowl is nice. But from owners to coaches to players, it's about money. Money is essential. Winning is nice.
Jerrah keeps appointing himself as the ultimate football owner whisperer and still thinks himself as the reason their 3 championships in the 90s happened. Hell at this point he may even give himself credit for what Tom Landry did.
Dax is anti Daniel Jones because he puts up great numbers and Jones. But last time I checked both haven't won anything of importance. And Jones doesn't have Lamb.
They need to get rid of mike McCarthy, but that won’t happen because jerry loves his yes men. I don’t consider dak a elite qb but under a good legit coach I think he can be amazing. The problem here is with jerry not wanting to hire a good coach. Makes me think jerry really doesn’t care about winning.
So we just gonna pretend like Dallas had ANY running game or ability to stop good teams? Come on, this is a joke. It's like "Dak blew it everyone else showed up", when CeeDee and Micah were both slumping their shoulders and crying WHEN IT WAS 0-0
The problem is the Cowboys went into this game assuming they were going to win based on their home record. The defense sucked. The coaching sucked. Jerry Jones placing way too much pressure on this team to perform. Step away and let the football minds do their magic
Jerry Jones is part of the Problem. His loyalty to players and to a lesser extent coaches has hurt the team more than it has helped. Jerry got rid of the one head coach that actually won him Superbowls in Jimmy Johnson. Now since then, the Cowboys have face planted every year. Mike McCarthy is not the answer. Neither is Dak. Jerry needs to move forward and make some changes.
I love how the man who famously and ruthlessly fired Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson has somehow given both Jason Garrett and Mike McCarthy more chances than any NFL coach should ever have 🤣 Makes me wonder if either could’ve pulled the Barry Switzer and proven Jerry right that “anyone could lead that team to a Super Bowl win.” 😂
It's all about making money for Jerry Jones... Dallas is just a shadow of the former teams without Jerry as owner... When I watch the Cowboys play now, it's only for comedy relief...
As a Dallas fan, stop talking about them. I was learning got damn colors, shapes, & ABC’s the last time they hoisted a Lombardi in the air. And they’re not gonna do to it again as long as raggedy ass Jerry Jones & Co. are there. Ain’t no point in doing breakdowns. Ain’t no point in debating about the Head Coach. Ain’t no point in debating about the OC, DC, QB1, Water Boy/Girl, or the doggone air conditioner settings at the stadium. None of it matters as much as the day Jerry Jones & Co. finally stop holding this organization hostage and part ways. Been saying it for years and will continue to do so no matter how long it takes before that becomes a reality.
The culture is bad the coaching is non existent in the playoffs and the quarterback is one of the biggest choke artist in big games ever and people sweep it under the rug lol. I love it
I made a prediction back in 2008 after watching Jerry the dummy Jones sabotage the Cowboys EVERY year for 13 years since their last Superbowl in 1995 season and have boycotted watching them ever since. NOTHING has changed because the idiot fans keep watching and spending money at the games. I've been watching the Cowboys since the early 70's and as big of a fan as there is, I'm STILL a Cowboy fan but I've been done with Jerry since 2008, his ego will NEVER allow him to get a Superbowl caliber coaching staff and players into the franchise. Jerry has been ruined since he let Jimmy Johnson go and his ego has stood in the way ever since! My buddy calls me a fake fan or a bandwagon fan but I informed him that a REAL fan will make the necessary sacrifices and even boycott if they have to in order to show Jerry that the fans are done, unfortunately there aren't enough fans with enough balls to sacrifice and boycott the Cowboys so that Jerry will either sell the Cowboys to an owner that will get back to the winning tradition that the Cowboys were known for or Jerry will finally pull his head out of his a$$ and hire the right coach that will do what needs to be done and not just be a yes man to Jerry. I'm done until Jerry is either dead or has sold the Dallas Cowboys to an owner who is dedicated to bringing the Cowboys back to a winning tradition!!! Until more fans do this, expect the same thing over and over and over and over...if the fans to take a stand and boycott, then Jerry has NO incentive to do anything different!
This game perfect describe Dak's nick name as Garbage Dak. He inflates his stats in garbage time when the games are out of reach. When you have garbage player like him as the leader of the team, you know that team will fail.
The only way this team csn win again is for jerry jones to step down as gm and dont get involved in the day to day operation. But that would never happen because you cant tell a billonaire, Hes the problem. There always right. When i saw that plsyoff game. It looked like they were scared uncomfortable. You cannot play this game like that. Its because of jerry jones.
Bro if cowboys keep dak Prescott. I’m not watching cowboys no more. And I’m. It a fan anymore dak is trash bro. Three straight years he choked. At least that I know of but he always chokes on. Playoffs time trade him asap.
