It's the latest installment of "Death by Sidney" and another duo of fools have volunteered to shuffle off their mortal coils, while Gale and Dewey continue to round out our singular squad of Ghostface Slayers! Scream Time!
Sidney has to be one of the best horror movie heroines. She's so strong. To suffer through everything she has, at this point she's more annoyed at a new killer than scared. "Yawn. Another lunatic trying to make their own horror movie." And I love that about Sidney. You can't break her. She only gets stronger.
Sidney is definitely number 1 in that respect! Sorry for the new final girl they are setting up for the new trilogy, but there is no way she will even come close to Sidney. I’ve heard talk that this will be the last movie with Sidney, Gale and Dewey. That is truly heartbreaking to me. I can’t imagine Scream without Sidney.
The scene where Jill is staging the crime scene and messing herself up has got to be my favorite moment in the entire franchise. I'll never forget the feeling of complete sadness for SId, shock, and horror despite also laughing my ass off all at once.
Agreed! That, the killing of her and Kirby’s friend, and the multiple red herring openings are some of the franchises best work. The kills were so much more gruesome than what we had ever seen before and the writing and characters were top notch. My only gripe is that I wish Kirby had lived (assuming she didn’t because we never got real confirmation and Sydney did hear something in the basement) and became the new final girl. That would’ve been quite the twist ending (paired with the one we got of course)
While it isn’t _my_ #1 favorite scene from the franchise, I agree that it is sooooo good. It really shows what a crazy, _dedicated_ motherfucker Jill is. And the film is that much better for having the scene!
Fun fact : if you pause on Gale's desk, you'll see her 3 books : The Woodsboro Murders, College Terror, and finally Hollywood Horror. Which are basically all the movies but in book forms.
@@thedragon12 Probably. For her book for Scream 5 I'm guessing something simple like 'My Friend Dewey' since we're letting the Ghostface of Scream 5 die anonymously.
I loved this one because it gave us something we’ve never seen, and that’s the “final girl” being the killer. It was shocking, it was new, it even let us down because we were rooting for her to make it out, for her to be behind it all was like “YOU BITCH” . It was a Great film. And a great “remake”
I agree that was Amazing, but *spoiler alert* it also happens in 2006's "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane". *TW* it's got "A bee stung my dog" energy though
i agree but there was also another horror movie around that time that played with the concept of the final girl revealed to be the killer and that was silent house starring Elizabeth Olsen.
The moment when Sidney first answers the phone and just says “what?…” is probably my favorite moment in Scream 4. Talk about a woman that is just DONE with these killers by this point. I can’t wait for Scream 5!! Also, maaan poor Nico!! I almost wish they had pulled a reverse and the new Billy is the survivor since the new Sidney is the killer but oh well.
TLDR: *ALANDA’S THE FREAKING BEST!!* LOL Same!! I’ve seen _lots_ of other reactors watch the Scream franchise for the first time and while a lot of them were pretty darn fun, *none* of them hold a candle to Alanda!! I absolutely *love* all of her movie reactions, but I especially love every single time she’s watched a Scream film!!
I think one of my favorite moments in this one is Sidney running to try and save Olivia. She's got some large cojones diving headfirst into danger, and she wasn't even worried about her own safety. 🥺🙏🏽 When y'all run away from death, Miss Mamas runs *towards* it with white hot rage. She said PLAY WITH ME IF Y'ALL WANT! 😂✊🏼🔥
Her phone call scene was great too cause he was still upstairs hiding and does attack when she called him out which made jill seem innocent cause sid saves her from seemingly near death at least from the audience pov at the time when we first saw it cause otherwise jill may have been really stabbed there even if it was planned and that wasn't going to happen in hindsight since she turns out to be a killer herself ....great scene
Fun fact: This movie was released on 4.15.11 in theaters...At that time is was the (4th) film in the franchise it was (15) years since the first scream and (11) years since last movie. This was Wes Craven last film before his passing in 2015 but he did have thoughts of continuing the story with Kirby characters since she became a fan favorite. Courtey Cox did ask to be killed off this movie, but Wes decided against it, ever since he had so much flack for killing Randy back in Scream 2. Can you react to the scream (5) trailer?
dont forget that he did direct most of the first season of the scream tv show which honestly is quite underrated. season 1 and 2 are very good in my opinion (ignore season 3 that shit SUCKEDD)
Fun Fact: The outfit that Trevor is wearing at the end when the killers reveal the plan is to frame him for the murders (khaki pants, green polo, jean jacket) is the same thing that Sidney's dad is wearing in the first movie when Billy & Stu reveal their plan is to frame him for the original murders.
Fun Fact #1: The blade in this film was a CGI blade. Fun Fact #2: Anthony Anderson's death was based on a real story Wes Craven heard, about a guy surviving a stabbing to the head. Fun Fact #3: Wes Craven made sure the final shot we see of Kirby, was her moving so as a way to potentially see her return in a future sequel. Fun Fact #4: The Weinstein's added the hospital scene fearing leaving Sidney's fate ambiguous would affect the box office. Fun Fact #5: The shot of Olivia's body was digitally alterted to remove a pet door that was originally around her neck (in reference to Tatum from the original - there's a deleted scene that confirms that there was a pet door around her neck) Fun Fact #6: The Doctor that checks Sidney at the hospital was written to be Steven Orth's brother (Casey Becker's boyfriend from the opening of the original) Fun Fact #7: Wes Craven has a cameo in a deleted scene as a coroner at the Randall house, where we see that Jenny and Marnie are staged up like Casey and Steve from the original Fun Fact #8: The connection of Hicks and Sidney was originally the idea for Angelina in Scream 3, as a former classmate of Sidney's. Fun Fact #9: In an extended scene at Jill's locker, we see a memorial bust of Principal Himbry (Henry Winkler) from the original. Fun Fact #10: At Kirby's house, Trevor is dressed similarly to Neil Prescott and Jill is dressed similarly to Billy Loomis from the finale of the original.
The blade was only CG in a few specific stabbing scenes. For most of the movie it is a regular prop knife, and they even used a traditional retractable blade in some stabbing scenes where CGI wasn’t necessary.
This might be the BEST REACTION to Scream, for me!! “Krump him to death!” “Dumb & Dumber er er er!” “Girl... if you coming at Sydney, you better BRING IT ON: ALL OR NOTHING!” 🤣🤣😂😂 You’re amazing!!!!
In the original Scream 4 script. It was left on a cliffhanger and unsure if Sydney lived or died. It was deliberately done that way in case she doesn't come back, then they’d save Kirby. Then, I think Bob Weinstein had the ending changed to the hospital sequence where all three lived because he thought it would affect the box office but then Kevin Williamson had nowhere to go for future sequels at the time.
@@AlandaParker The original plan for Scream 5 would have seen both Sydney and Kirby survive. Sydney would be in a coma or have amnesia for the entirety of Scream 5. Jill and Kirby would be at college. Jill is now famous. The killer in Scream 5 would be an obsessed stalker/killer/fan of Jill. Basically she tried to play the victim in Scream 4 and she would learn what its really like in Scream 5. The rest is mostly speculation on my part (based on interviews that Kevin Williamson gave about the 2nd trilogy) but I think Scream 6 would have likely been set several years after 5, Jill's 15 minutes are up and she starts another killing spree to revitalize her "career"... but someone is out there who knows the truth and she would be getting threats akin to I Know What You Did Last Summer throughout the movie and at the end, after Jill almost gets away with a 2nd murder spree, Sydney would emerge to put her down for good.
@@Will-vj5bcman that sounds awesome. I try not to watch trailers but I doubt i could like anything the new movie is more than if Wes was alive and Kevin still wrote that version of Scream 5.
Love this one so much. Honestly, Jill is my favourite Ghostface, just for the sheer brutality and how she got the closest to actually getting away with it, plus the self-injury scene is ICONIC.
Why didn't she stab sid 2 more times near the heart to make sure she died? and wouldn't the DNA evidence on the knife suggest she's the killer...dewey and gale would know....
@@razkable why did all the villains monologue before atracking sid? Just how it goes She did wipe off the knife and plant trevors fingerprints on it She could probably weasel out of the "same wound" thing by saying that trev/charlie mentioned it during the attack, *if* sid hadnt survived Shes not a genius, she had a lot of flaws in her plan, i just think she had the least flaws
Roman being the killer in Scream 3 hit hard for me because like, it's the one person who she could've had for support through this and the one person responsible for all of her trauma.
Imagine how devastating Roman could have been as a reveal if him being Sid’s brother was not the twist of the movie. It would be like the Billy twist, when you’re introduced to Sid’s brother he immediately becomes the most obvious choice for the killer. But then they could have spent time having Scott Foley really develop a likable personality for Roman, where he reconnects with Sid seemingly innocuously, is open about how he is related to her and how it’s part of what makes him want to direct Stab 3. They try to portray him as a perfectionist artist but we don’t really see that. But if he was super hard core about making a realistic and “respectful” horror film about the murder of Maureen Prescott because it was his mother, it would make more sense. Plus you could show more of an intense film shoot instead of the typical cynical “haha making movies is boring and actors are shallow” jokes. Then they could have naturally introduced the backstory of Maureen being assaulted and impregnated by John Milton, and how Roman was essentially abandoned by both of them. He could have bonded with Sidney as the only family he has. It would be so easy to point towards Roman as the killer, but it would be so obvious that most would just assume that it has to be someone else. Probably either John Milton or the police officer. Then when Roman’s “corpse” shows up, it would actually be sad instead of the audience going “wait, who’s body was that?” This would be even crazier if they had kept Angelina Tyler as the other killer like in the early drafts of Scream 3. Because Angelina was his secret girlfriend and it’s implied he has a deep and perverted obsession with Sidney, so he’s dating the girl who plays his sister. It was like he was so obsessed with Sidney that he had a mixture of wanting to be her and also wanting her? I made up Sid and Roman establishing a connection, but the creepy Sidney obsession was from the old scripts. It was some sick shit, and maybe they thought it was too sick for the movie to go through with. I could see that, but Billy also r@ped and murdered his girlfriends mother and then spent a year manipulating her into a vulnerable state so that he could take her virginity before he murdered her. Tbh, I think the more twisted and sick the killer is, the better.
A fun theory I love about this movie is that Jenny (aka Julie Taylor) was the girl Trevor cheated on Jill with, which explains why Jill decided to have her be one of Ghostface's victims, to get revenge. People thought this because when Jenny gets the threatening phone calls, she asks "is this Trevor?" thinking it's him playing a joke on her. Now why would she say that if she didn't know him?
Just saying. This would’ve been over QUICK,if everyone in the school knew that Jenny slept with Trevor. Because Jill would’ve been the number 1 suspect lol. Instead, they just treat it as a “random” murder, with no suspects… but I’ll just say,the only ppl that knew WHY Jill broke up with him, could’ve been JUST Jill,Trevor and Jenny…probably Kirby, because Jill told her.but definitely not Olivia…she seems like she would’ve gossiped and tell the rest of the school lol.
@@balue707 Not if Charlie killed them and Jill had an alibi, plus the reveal ghostface was back came pretty much straight after them realising and by then Jill had already had a Ghostface call, so she would have been very much in the clear, as much as everyone else who could be anyway.
@@AmyPondFAN30 that may be true…but before she even has an alibi…what’s the reasoning they would suspect/question her?….because Trevor slept with Jenny! Lol
@@balue707 no one else knew...I am not even sure anyone but jill trevor kirby by proxy charlie knew...and jenny herself maybe her friend that died too...they kept it a secret from their parents..maybe it was a one night stand
Love that Sidney is in the intensive care unit of the hospital. And you cut to her and she’s straight chillin. They made it sound like she was hangin on to dear life and all banged up. 😂🤣🤣
I think dewey said that to jill suspecting she's maybe the killer slightly and that she would then try to attack sid if she thought that...maybe sid woke up and told him that which is why judy shows up alerted by dewey...they want to finish her and catch her in the act...if she was in intense care wouldn't she have doctors around lol....it seems like bait
Emma Roberts just knows how to serve 100% hateful! A few more horror classics for the winter; Gremlins, The Shining, and the first Child's Play. Can't wait to see what's next!
A good recommendation if you're ever hurting for more of this might be Wes Craven's RED EYE. Rachel McAdams has very Sidney Prescott energy in that movie.
Lol I still get Marley Shelton and Heather Graham confused all the time. I felt all the same emotions when they tried to make us think Sidney was dead. Can't wait for Scream 5! 💕
Sydney has always been my favorite scream queen because even when she’s scared for her life she still manages to tell the killer to go f**k themselves 😂 she never begs for her life or anything she’s always gonna fight
16:31 16:54 16:59 17:07 'Ugh!!!' 'This is so violent!' 'GOD!' LMAO Your reaction to Olivia's death is priceless 🤣🤣🤣 That death is honestly one of the best horror deaths IMO
I find it interesting how no one's parents are ever around in any of these movies. When I was growing up my at least one of my parents was ALWAYS HOME! They didn't go nowhere, definitely not on vacation for days at a time. They went to work, church (I had to go too) and came home. That's it! Jill's mom was the only parent we saw and she was useless!
As someone who’s loved the Scream franchise ever since the first one came out back in ‘96 (I’ll _never_ forget me and all of my little 7th grader gal pals huddled up in my parents’ living room, each of us trying not to piss our pants, as we were watching the Scream VHS we had rented! LOL.), I gotta say that they _mostly_ dropped the ball when it came to advertising Scream 4. I say _mostly_ because, in hindsight, they did one thing thing that I *really* loved, which was advertise the movie as both a sequel as well as a _soft reboot._ They even talked about how the original trio would be tossing the baton over to the newbies. Obviously, the genius with this lies in the fact that none of the newbies, aside from Hicks (And possibly Kirby.) even survived the film. Thus, completely subverting our expectations, yet again! So, while Scream 4 certainly isn’t my favorite installment in the franchise, I still enjoy it quite a bit and I’m quite happy that we have it! 😁
If you notice in the classroom when everyone is going crazy over the murders Jill is sitting there casual as hell it's little things like that that make here my fave ghostface honestly
JUSTICE FOR KIRBY! This installment is somewhat divisive in the fandom, though not as much as the third (which I think is an awesome movie), but I enjoy this one just for Kirby. For me, she's almost the reincarnation of Tatum: funny, snarky, loyal, and brave. The franchise hasn't had such a fully-fleshed out character like Kirby since the first movie, and she deserved better. But the best part? Sidney remains 100% THAT BITCH. Girl, you hit it right on the head: THE BLUEPRINT. I love Sid, but in a very real way, she's almost ruined horror movies/final girls for me, because no one can compare. And when I see them doing dumb shit? My AUTOMATIC PAVLOVIAN RESPONSE is "Sidney would never!"
Your cultural references left me GAGGED. You mentioned PLL, Gossip Girl, 90210, and Degrassi in the span of a few minutes and I KNEW I’m obsessed with your videos.
ALANDA! Girl, You had me laughing to the point of wheezing. I don't know what made me crack up more "Lemon Square Barbie", "two bodies, two killers...protocol", the quoting of destiny's child survivor, or "what were you going to do if he was in the closet krump him to death? This ain't bring it on all or nothing" . You be havin some gems and I'm here for it. 😂😂😂😂
The whole scene with Jill injuring herself, made me think of Jim Carrey in Liar Liar. "I'm kicking my ass! Do you mind?!" That and the fact that my CSI loving brain was thinking, no way this is passing forensics. She's not fooling no one with this
YAY!!! The time has come!!! Don’t get me wrong, I love _all_ of your movie reactions, but your reaction to the original Scream was my introduction to you and your amazing content. Plus I absolutely *love* the entire Scream franchise. Making this a fabulous, exciting, but also bittersweet for me as well!!! 💜
Gurl!!!!!! I was so excited to see you watch this one. My listing for the Scream franchise goes Scream, Scream 4, Scream 2 and then Scream 3. This was a top tier slasher movie for me. And the fact they were able to mix in the meta stuff for a reboot/remake was pretty amazing. Can't wait for the new one!
😂😂😂 girl I was dyiiiing for your reaction to this movie. I’ve always loved how the movie is about “cursed” family bonds and the killers turned out to be Macaulay Culkin’s brother and Julia Roberts’ niece. Scream 4 is def one of my favorites from the franchise. BTW you should check out the bloopers of this movie, they’re hilarious.
You’re sad it’s over until Scream 5 comes out, and I’m definitely sad we won’t see more Scream reactions from you. You make them even better! 10/10 reactions always 😉
I love how Alanda is constantly recognizing famous people throughout the movie and the first time I watched Scream 4 other than obviously knowing Neve, Courteney & David, Emma Roberts and Anthony Anderson are the only people I recognized 😂 I knew of Hayden Panieterre and I knew that Charlie was a Culkin, but I wasn't sure which Culkin other than Macauly he was
Sis you had me LMAO at "It is a Xmas Movie my babys on the roof" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 how does it feel being all caught up with the Scream quadrilogy?? Im so Amped for Scream 5!! The OG 3 are gonna be back YASS!! You can deffo tell that Wes Craven & Kevin Williamson worked together on this one cause it just had that eerie vibe & how vicious were the killers!! As always ya commentary had me LMAO 🤣🤣🤣 It just makes the experience better!! Gale looked fresh AF in this movie the hair was on point!! Sid was even more a badass....Jill could never! Not her knocking Dewey out with a bed pan! Hope you're well 🖤❤
Jill's commitment to the sole survivor bit is why she's one of my favorite ghostfaces. And yes, kirby is alive, they don't explicitly say it in the film but that was wes's intention (kirby was his favorite new face in the film). If scream 5 claims she dies then i call LIES on whoever in the film says it.
They marketed this as being the beginning of a Scream for a new generation with a new cast to take over the franchise so many expected Jill to be the new lead of the series. So, nobody expected the twist. And originally the movie was supposed to end in a cliffhanger with Jill being rushed out to the hospital while you hear that they found someone alive in the house. But the ending was changed and they filmed a new one, something that reportedly really upset Kevin Williamson who had plans for a direct sequel featuring Jill. The cop being stabbed in the forehead and not dying was based on a real event where a guy being stabbed like that walked into an emergency room.
30:39 Alanda gives the best foreshadowing and doesn't even know it. Hahaha. I have been HIGHLY ANTICIPATING this video and it didn't disappoint! I love your videos!!!
A particularly ingenious move is that the STAB clips at the front of the movie tell you right up front how the story's going to end - two killers, and a personal betrayal - but nobody remembers it because they think it's just a gag.
This wasn't my favorite movie of the franchise but after rewatching nowadays i think i appreciate it much more! One thing is the final battle between Jill & Sidney is probably one of the best in the scream series! Plus i think I've never seen anyone mentioning it but the way Sidney killed Jill is a combination of the way she killed Stu & Billy. Electrocuting her in the head like she did with Stu and then fatally shooting her like Billy.
The first Saw is actually really good, honestly, if you want a new horror recommendation. The two sequels are solid too, and then it descends really into ridiculousness (which I still enjoy honestly ). Love the reaction as always!
Fun Fact: the original ending for Scream 4 was supposed to be at the house and not the Hospital Jill was gonna be rolled away on the Gurnee, Dewey was outside looking at Jill till a Paramedic Shouts "We Got A Breather!!" Dewey was gonna run back in (Cut To Black, Roll Credits) so essentially Jill Got Away With It, and the Breather(s) were Kirby and Sidney that would've been revealed in the middle of Wes Craven's Original Scream 5.
Scream 4 was CRAZY! After watching all 4, I think it was my least favorite, but still extremely entertaining and fun. The streaming/vlogging and the motive of you don’t have to do anything to be famous was SO ahead of it’s time and so cutting nowadays. And I loved the idea of a remake and baiting us into believing it was going to be a “passing of the torch” before pulling a reverse-uno on us. The Weinstein’s are terrible, but I am glad they decided to add the hospital scene at the end. I don’t think that cliffhanger would’ve gone over well, especially without a guaranteed sequel in the works. I could see why Kirby was so beloved by the fans. Hayden ate that role up! So many people cling on to her death being ambiguous so I would definitely be here for the new team bringing her back as a cameo or maybe a new installment if 5 is a success. Speaking of, if you didn’t record a reaction to the trailer for 5, I think we’d all love to here your thoughts about it even as a community post! The new cast looks fantastic and I wonder if we’ll really get a torch passing moment this time. Love your work, always stop what I’m doing to watch a new upload from you even if I haven’t seen the movie in question!
I just saw Scream5 yesterday and came across all your reactions and powered through all of them. I love these movies so much and the new one blew my mind. I think you'll love it.
There's a different version of the Marnie/Jenny scene that was more meta, with Marnie so disbelieving that she saw Jenny being murdered in front of her and she still was doubtful about it being a joke. Then when Ghostface starts coming for her she desperately starts screaming 'You're not real!'
Easily the best line ever which I now repeat to myself on a daily basis thanks to you. ‘Look at my babies putting two and two together’ in that voice too. Genius! Hilarious. Best reactions ever!
