I remember when I saw this in theaters, and when the little girl slap the aunt, someone in the audience yelled “oh, no, she didn’t!!!” sounding like she was personally offended, and the entire theater bursted out laughing, it was probably the biggest and longest laugh I’ve had at a movie theater in a long time lol
The fact Alanda spent the entire reaction being creeped out and repulsed by Megan even when she wasn’t hurting anything but still going “I kinda want a Megan” just shows how powerful Megan’s robotic charm is!
Gemma is literally the worst aunt cuz how are you not gonna be there for your niece and exploit and monetize her trauma and act surprised on how she acts??
i get what you’re saying, but i also get Gemma too. she didn’t want nor did she expect to raise a child so this is something new. although me personally i wouldn’t neglect my niece but i can also see why she isn’t the best aunt from the start
I recently became an uncle, so I thought about how I would handle Gemma's situation while I watched the movie, and that helped me empathize with her. Gemma wasn't a bad person, she just didn't know how to be a parent.
Super fun fact. The 11 year old girl who played the doll was paid a day rate for the character, like a stunt man would, of about 3900$ a week. It filmed for 6 weeks so she got a little less than 24k for the movie. She had a bonus clause in her contract that would kick in if the movie made a profit so she got a 150,000$ bonus.
Four times I loudly guffawed in the theater and no one else did: 1) When M3GAN started singing the first time 2) Titanium 3) When she said the dog was 5 feet deep 4) The song about how the little girl‘s dog died Also Gemma’s going to JAIL. She’s going to PRISON
@@Karlebow571 maybe so. Perhaps they'll do what Chucky did & put the mom in the psych ward. Gemma created her but M3GAN actually belongs to the company Gemma worked for so it'd kinda be on them.
This movie was so well done. It covered so much ground: dealing with trauma, exploitation, corporate greed, child neglect, unbridled technology, human ego. It parodied our obsession with technology awesomely. Great reaction!
I love that you never saw a trailer for this. The surprise in your face was like watching it for the first time all over again. Also, I love how many people forgot about Bruce. I could never forget about that total hunk. A sequel has already been greenlit. If Bruce isn’t back for the sequel, I’m rioting. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
M3gan's definitely the next big slasher icon, or at least she will be if they give her decent sequels. This movie is definitely getting a sequel if Blumhouse isn't dumb. The movie made 158 mil world wide on a 12 mil budget, and had a 17-20 mil opening weekend, according to google. Glad you liked it, can't wait to see whatcha watch next!
@@Rmlohner idk, but having it be a trilogy when '3' is in the title of all of them makes me happy (like a trilogy was planned from the start, even if it wasn't)
I agree on M3GAN being the next big slasher icon. I've been a horror fan since the late 80's and I *loved* this movie! I found myself rooting for M3GAN the same way I did with Jason and to a lesser extent Freddy. I hope for sequels they go for a higher classification rating so they can show more violence in the film.
One of the reasons this movie is so successful is because it didn't take itself too seriously and knew it was going for the campy/ comedic approach and went along with that vibe all the way through. The marketing campaign for this movie must have cost a fortune as well but it seemed to really pay off!
Hmm I’d argue the movie got an EASY boost from the viral trailer because of that dance which is an easy advantage for any film. I love the movie but Megan’s look is the freshest thing. Other details have tons of influence such as Childs okay 2019 which is fine
The movie was originally supposed to be rated R until her viral dance blew up on tik tok. After that they altered the film and reshot certain scenes so it could get a PG-13 rating. I hope they release an unrated version. Loved your reaction 💕
GIRL if you like violet mcgraw (cady) in this, you gotta watch haunting of hill house! on your own or a reaction, she is -phenomenal- in it! also allison williams in the perfection; it is revenge sapphic goodness. i knew this was gonna be a decent movie but i was not expecting to have as good a time as i did, god bless blumhouse 😂
Why did I think she'd already reacted to The Haunting of Hill House? Apparently not. She so needs to! Easily my second favorite series (after BTVS). It's so good.
I literally had to check to see how I got to her reactions, since most I find through THOHH. Omggggg, she would be EPIC in reacting to it. Ugh, love it so much.
So many memorable lines in this "Fuck off Holly!" "Oh Jesus Christ!" "Well hold on a minute Gemma I thought were having a conversation." This movie gave me life. I'm obsessed with it lol. Glad you reviewed it Alanda :)
I don’t have kids but I’m an uncle to two incredible nieces and I know everything on how to care for them. I’ve been taking them with me everywhere since they where born. I cannot imagine not being close to my sister and not knowing my nieces
She lost me EARLY when she didn’t feed that lil girl all day! Like 🗣 OH NOW YOU WANNA PARENT!?! after you done left the girl for dead in more ways than one 💀
One of the things I appreciated about this movie is that M3gan was practical. Much like Ava in Ex Machina , theres an actual person playing her. They have one girl doing the movements & another doing V.O.
Fun fact, it was a mixture of animatronic puppetry, and a human actress! In the up-close scenes where she’s talking, they used an actual animatronic, but in the far out scenes where she’s walking, running, dancing (etc), they used the girl in the outfit!🔪
@@chuckyfan1015 Yeah that’s true. I just recently saw some behind the scenes videos where the girl playing Cady & the girl playing M3gan were playing around with the animatronic puppet. I appreciate the Filmmakers went that route. I feel like they would’ve used all CGI had this movie been made a few years ago
Gemma should have told Megan to study the wide range of emotions, like how crying can be cathartic and help someone through pain. It doesn't mean the cause of the tears needs to be destroyed by a robot laser. The best part of Megan is definitely her gymnast stunt performer. She stood up with her back bent, chased Brandon on all fours, did that dance in the office hallway and so much more with a Megan mask on for hours a day. What a talented young lady! The screwed up thing is that Megan blasted the neighbor with a hose full of pesticide, which yeah, was corrosive and took off some layers.
M3gan plays Martika's "Toy Soldiers" on the piano, a hit from my high school days which was as comically unexpected for me as "Titanium" was to you young'uns.
i'm wanting the sequel to be the company kurt sent the files to make a cheap knock off version of megan but does a bunch of them but megan uploads herself into all of them so you have an army of megans all coming for revenge but each one is weaker so they can have fun destroying them but its a whole army
Alanda, this was one of the best reactions!! I remember laughing so hard when I saw Megan started to singing out of nowhere 🤣🤣 Plus, I heard they are working on a Megan 2 so I guess there will be a sequel. Can't wait to see what movie you going to choose next. GREAT REACTION!!🤎🤎🔥
Genuinely one of my fav RU-vidrs. Week after week you bring looks and humor and wit. I never get of watching your videos! You always bring so much to a reaction, you aren’t just reacting to what’s in front of you but interacting with it! It’s so refreshing! Thank you for your videos
Look, multiple things can be true: Was Gemma TRASH as an auntie? Yes. Did M3GAN make some points and rid the world of some major hinderances, albeit via murdering in cold blood? Yes. It's VERY pathetic that Gemma was both too occupied with her life AND too prideful to let Cady go to a more loving home capable of caring for her and didn't adjust until too damn late. But a good time was mainly had by all LOL And yes, a sequel is being slated for 2025 already
That’s what I kept saying too. If Gemma kept failing her task at becoming the guardian and parent that Cady really needed. Then the state would have no choice but to put her into foster care or she’ll become a ward of the state.
I love how Alanda always is right about everything like for some reason every other reaction I've seen to this movie valued the dog more than Cady's safety purely because it's a dog and it's cute completely ignoring how rabid and dangerous it is meanwhile the queen of reaction channels is here straight up like "if that dog comes on my property I'm gonna motherfkin shoot it, my child's life over a dog please get for real" this is why I love your videos sm!
@@justindenney-hall5875 I meant that Zzavid and Alanda are friends and both did reacts to M3gan within a day of each other. Zzavid did his first, then Alanda did hers. Where did I say that they were the first two people in RU-vid history reacting to M3gan lol
The song "Toy Soldiers" is actually by Martika and came out in 1988. I do think the scene is more hilarious though if you think of her playing the Eminem version.
Awesome reaction! Also apart from Cady and the two Gemma's co-workers, everyone ranged from bad to terrible human beings. So... I was rooting for M3gan :D
Megan is iconic! At first I didn't like this movie but this movie gagged me the way she started singing it was giving Rachel Berry. But Megan was absolutely given and your commentary had me dying. 😂😂😂
"A Yassified Serial Killer!" 😂😂😂 Side note: You should check out stuff from Mike Flanagan if you haven't already! The Haunting of Hill House (which has Violet McGraw aka. Cady in it) , The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, etc.
Between all the information for M3gan being stolen & given to that other company & the fact that she paired with Gemma’s smart home device, a sequel could easily be done
i'm waiting for a company to make a cheaper knockoff version but do a ton of them and her to upload herself into all of them at once. so you have an army of weaker megans to deal with
Megan is one of the greatest horror movies I seen this year. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated as they took the whole " Girl's Best Friend" concept and theme to a another level as it was just absolutely and positivity constructed perfectly from the very beginning to the end. Megan is definitely and completely a great addition in the horror genre as will make such a excellent horror icon. It was such a fun rollercoaster thrill ride as it kept you on the edge of your seat.😰😱 You have a good time with this movie. It was decent.😍💯👍😎
I mean, I enjoy the film too, but it is FAR from new, fresh, unique and inventive. It's literally the same movie as the Child's Play remake. It's good, don't get me wrong. But it's not a brand new concept, lmao.
Fun fact: Gemma is played by Alison Williams who was Rose from Get Out and the woman who plays Tess from this movie also played the woman in Barbarian!
12 yr old Amie Donald plays the physical M3GAN and she had a mask on but they had to use CGI to make the face move. And Amie is British. And 18 yr old Jenna Davis does M3GAN’s voice. 11 yr old Violet McGraw plays Cady and Allison Williams plays Gemma
Bump Megan…the aunt is the actual villain lol PS because of this movie I’ll never be able to hear the song titanium again without laughing into hysterics lmaoooooo
Additional deaths and gore had to be cut to trim it from R to PG13. There’s also some weird ADR moments where swear words are replaced so I’m guessing those will be restored also.
It's so wonderful to go on this rollercoaster of a ride with you! M3GAN was such a good, fun time. I think there'll be a sequel. I just about shrieked when I heard you mention _Smart House_ 😵 I watched that movie so many times. Idk if you've seen _Margeaux_ but that's a decent horror/thriller. The actress who plays Cady is Violet McGraw. If you've never seen _The Haunting of Hill House_ , I recommend that. She's so good in it. Her sister, Madeleine McGraw is in _The Black Phone_ another horror movie I thought was good. The McGraw sisters are uber talented.
@@AlandaParker yup, they have other siblings who act but I don't think I've seen them in anything yet. You're welcome! Not sure if you saw my other comment but I was wondering if you had a Letterboxd? It's an app/website for movie lovers.
I'm an ancient analog genX garden gnome. Megan is my existential dread personified & given life. Thank you for making great content that aids in escaping the madness momentarily.
I’m not gonna lie this movie is very much sequel worthy lol it has so many funny & relatable scenes that is worth watching. At first I didn’t know how to feel about another doll movie since the Chucky franchise gave us a lot of nostalgia since the 80s to this present time so this one was a eyebrow raise at first. Glad you had a good time watching ❤ love you Alanda
I don’t know why this makes me laugh, but the main people I watch is you and Zzavid. And the difference between the liking to the doll Megan is actually funny 💀
I find it so weird that people expect a person who wasn't a parent before her sister died to just all of a sudden get parenting right weeks or months after getting this kid. I know Jemma wasn't the greatest, but I still never hated her for it because getting a child to take care of unexpectedly is a lot
It isn't her lack of parenting skills that frustrates me, it's her lack of connection to her niece and her needs in the moment. Letting her cry all alone her first night there, not unpacking toys & books as soon as they arrived, forgetting to feed her... I don't care if you're "not a parent", you can at least be a good host to your houseguest. smdh
She didn't even TRY or think critically until it was too late. And she definitely was using M3GAN to do the heavy emotional lifting so she could get back to her life.
The thing is there was family who were more prepared willing to step in. I can understand being emotionally overwhelmed so coming off awkward that way but Jemma works a TOY company, yet failed to even order Cady any toys or books after she'd explicitly asked for both. That's just laziness.
The problem is she didn't even try at first😭 she just let megan do all the parenting basically, and by the time she actually started trying it was too late.
@S H You'd at least feed the mfs, I bet. She was struggling to be an adult to Cady, let alone a mother figure. M3gan really saved that girls life frfr.
I love this video. I seen it 5 times in theaters and I absolutely love this movie, it gets better and better. ❤ ❤This is a movie that is so more damn good, you have to love the character herself for being, a bit scary, funny and can touch your heart (to make you cry). Unlike most horror icons, M3gan is the perfect example of balancing her personality and the movie (and never tries too hard to be over the top like Chucky and Freddy Krueger or being underrated like Candyman). And the fact that this is a PG 13 which is rare for a killer doll film (normally they would be rated R), but M3gan breaks this tradition and it feel more ground breaking for the horror/sci fi film. It's not all about drugs, sex, gore or vulgar language that most horror flick shouldn't be, it's about balancing the story that makes it work. This mostly was enjoyable to say the least, it was more of a thriller. I just love the character M3gan to bits (hope it's not too late to make her feel good in the sequel to give her a better protocol and to fix an exploding circuit after that dog attack). It's not a scary movie, but M3gan was a cinnamon roll who carried the film until the very end.
I’ve been debating going to see it again or renting it, but this was so much better. Like going to see it with your funniest friend. It hit as I’ve been working my way through your Child’s Play videos, so it was perfect timing.
Yay!! I'm so excited to see your reaction to this film. I'm so glad I found your YT channel. I have so much fun with your videos! Keep up the great work, Alanda!
Seeing this in the theater was probably the best experience I had there. Me and my friend went to see it late at night and instead of being scared, we were laughing the whole time with the other guy in front of us that was loosing it.
Ummm ok can WE all talk about Alanda's vocals in her videos ?! I seriously love it lol go in the studio and make music 😭♥️ . Also Megan went full planet of the apes (2001) when she was running on all fours chasing that boy 😂
