I got within about a foot of a deer once while I was taking the very very long way home 4-5 years ago while I was riding my old GL1100I. Not a great first bike honestly, but I am pretty sure if I had hit the deer I would have had no issues with mounting it to the bike and bringing home some meat.

I hit a big raccoon on a ‘93 Kawasaki EX500(ninja 500r?) and went down. Rode the bike home, I believe the frame was bent, never rode the same again. Ended up with a 06 FJR 1300a, much better ride and more comfortable.

17:20 That is an Aprilia Pegaso Strada, ah the memories it was my first bike too! That engine was also shared with the 1st gen MT-03 which is by far the best MT-03 ever made (altho in the Aprilia it was tuned for a bit higher power output). 660cc single thumper with boatloads of torque for the bike's size + it has brembo brakes stock :D . It also comes as a "Pegaso Trail" version which has long suspension and large front wheel plus knobbies, and is a great adv bike that deserves a lot more attention than it gets. Fantastic little beast, and the bike is virtually unkillable :)

I hit a deer doing 45mph on gravel on my first bike, an 86 kawasaki 454ltd. The bike had no damage, I slid sideways, fish tailed a little, and by some miracle managed to keep it on 2 wheels.

Definitely agree with Satsui(?) the Ninja 250 dude. When I took a safety course, it was my first time even properly sitting on a motorcycle, let alone riding one and while the Kawasaki Eliminator is a dreadful beast, I still had the biggest smile on my face. That was like, 3 or 4 years ago at this point and still nothing has topped that experience for me. Not going out on dates or hooking up, not going to shows to see bands I like, no movie or tv show. Really hoping this is the year I can finally get on two wheels.

I’ve got a Triumph 955i sprint. Gixxer thou and busa inverted front ends bolt on. 110hp 70 lbs tq 450 lbs. I’m building a custom out of it with a daytona engine and hopefully a small turbski in the future. These are great bikes with great brakes and the engine sounds fk’ing great. The suspension could use help (k5 front end), but the uniqueness, sound, great mpg (55-60mpg with decent passing power) makes these great project bikes. I bought mine for under a $1000 not running. I fixed the usual issues with the bike along with full maintenance and it hasn’t missed a beat. My golden retriever has done over 6k miles with me on this bike (in a big dog backpack) and people lose their sh!t when they see that he isn’t a stuffed animal. Great bikes, just replace the fuel elbows coming out of the tank and the cam cover gasket, both easy, and the 955i’s last for a lot of miles and they’re super comfortable.

My wife has the unicorn version of the furry helmet cover, it's funny. Also, a 955i is just classic lines. I would love to find a clean one just to have a coffee shop cruiser. Yes, I watched the whole thing, but that bike in specific gave me the giddy. Oh, and deer hits, yeah, they suck. Totalled my 4 month old VFR800 that way, and ate it a couple other times thanks to them. Downside of rural living and long distance riding.

It's honestly the best bike in its segment :) stock brembo brakes, underseat exhaust, very agile and light, twice the torque of an rc390, and a few handy features + it's engine is bulletproof, the bike can't be killed :D

lol I hit a groundhog about a month ago with my 1999 1100 Honda shadow, it ran right under my bike. Almost got hit by birds going around a corner long time ago so always have a full wind feral.

400cc Kawasaki engine doesnt exist in Europe anymore because of emissions. You could propably find one used but not brand new. For the A2 license (Restricted to 35kw and the license you can get earliest at 18yo). Only Kawasaki for the A2 license is z650/ninja650/versys650 those you can get restricted to 35kw.

I am not sure where in Europe you are located but the ninja 400/z400 were last refreshed in 2020 and are still being sold.

@@wmopp9100 If you live in European Union and your country follows euro regulations there is no new models being sold as i understand. They might still have that 2020 stock that is being sold but i think euro5 for bikes came to use on 2021 and they didn't refresh 400cc for those emissions?

I'm surprised you guys have never talked about the Suzuki Bandit series of motorcycles, or from what I can find. The 600 / 650 are are strong choice as the "first big bike" in the UK/EU as they are can comply with A2 regulations, really fun to ride and dirt cheap to pick up. Even whilst restricted, they're a lot of fun - speaking from experience. Would love to finally see a video on them!

The sick shooter 0.5 on the 883 is a fancy chrome choke pull nob cover that looks like a bullet, that one’s probably from wish lol but u can order ones from Harley if u want an extra piece of loose plastic chrome on ur Harley lol, all jokes aside Harleys are my favourite and that’s 883 is a beautiful beginner bike, I love ur videos Yammie!

Was the Red Bull CBR thing like a regular thing back then? First bike I ever had was a 2001 CBRF4i with Red Bull fairings. The coolest part was the guy before me had painted it half blue half silver, but it switched with each piece. So left fairing was silver, right fairing was blue, right half the thank was silver, left half was blue, etc.

I had a R3 new, now ritten off, so I bought a MT03, it's a better bike a lot less plastic & easy to get to get to the motor. The only thing I don't like plastic tank cover.

I'm probably gonna end up on a cbr500 cause I can pick up a 2014 for 4ish grand going into winter and ninja 400s sit around 6 and up since the bare minimum is a much newer model year. Strikes the balance between price and displacement. I'm not gonna start on a 600 but im an 85kg, 6 foot tall guy with a bit of experience off road on two strokes and I was thoroughly bored on an r3. Id get a ninja 400 per recommendation but im just trying to get on the road as fast as possible and an extra 2g would push my plan out by a couple months.

2:40 oh shit das me :D Didn't have enough space to say all I wanted with the restriction in the discord. I love my fireblade and I absolutely would not trade it for anything in the world. I bought the Vitpilen on a whim with no experience and while it was a good bike it wasn't good enough for my everyday commute, Knoxville drivers are insane and its ill advised to go any slower than 75 on the interstate, which I had to to get to work. Pre first service the vitpilen sucked gas faster than I could put it in with a 1.5gallon tank and running it at redline for 20 minutes straight. Decided I needed something bigger, and me being a budding squidlet with no knowledge of anything displacement and bike related decided that more cc = faster, and I would settle for nothing less than the fastest (within a reasonable budget). Yes I considered a gen 1 busa but decided it was a bit much for me at the time. I did bare minimum research, in that which bike I found had the worst issues and were the most costly to maintain. One marketplace search later I find a 2012 CBR1000RR Fireblade for the affordable price of 7000$, and it was fairly close. One short trip later and I've acquired my Fireblade. It's everything I wanted a bike to be. Fast, loud, gentle riding, light, nimble, touchy throttle, it was perfect. I never stopped riding it, if it wasn't raining, I was in the saddle. 70 degrees? You betcha. 50 degrees? A little chilly. 30 degrees? Time to layer up. The lowest I've ridden in is 18 degrees F. Truly the most exhilirating experience flying up the interstate doing 130+ at 1am with no traffic, that cold air cutting your legs like razorblades. Really nothing like it. I've never crashed it or laid her down, with the exception of dumping it in parking lots by grabbing too much front brake, and one time my foot slipped in a puddle in my friend's driveway. I cannot overstate how much I love my blade, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. In case you're curious, yeah I did ask to be featured in Yam's interview with a litre bike learner, but wasn't picked cause I'm not local to him. Maybe next time.

I hit (and killed) a deer at 60 mph on a Kawasaki 175 enduro. Bent the forks in, and almost came off. Terrifying for sure. It could have come over the handlebars, but God was with me that day. Hwy. 299 West, just west of Junction City in Trinity County, CA. 1977.

I have a question that perhaps you could do a video on. After riding on my first bike for roughly a year, I am considering upgrading or getting a different type entirely. What are some of the best "level 2/intermediate" bikes? Also if starting on a cruiser and having never ridden a sportbike, what sport bike would you recommend for someone who has only ridden cruisers and vice versa?

Just depends on what you want. A light quick bike that you can flick left to right easy? A comfortable bike that feels solid, yet heavy? I rode a CBR F4i for like 6 years. Sold it, got a Fatboy for 2 years. Sold it, didn't have a bike for 8 years, and now I have a VStar 1300. I LOVED my F4i... can't even really remember why I sold it. The fatboy was fine, but didn't like it that much. I just got the VStar this year, but I really love it. Much better than the Fatboy (much cheaper too), but part of me misses the "flickability" and quickness of my sport bike days. But when riding home on the highway and a really windy day a couple weeks ago... I also really liked that it felt so solid and "heavy". It also has a way so "setting" in a corner. It doesn't flick into the corner like a sport bike but once you're there you just feel like your settled into it. I think in a few years I may look at a used Rebel 1100 if the price isn't bad. That way I can keep my VStar, but also have a lighter quicker bike. I'm 35 and had 2 back surgeriers in my early 20, so going back to a CBR or other sport bike really isn't an interest to me... so a Rebel 1100 seems like a good compromise between cruiser sitting position and lightness/sportiness. First, you have to decide what you're looking for. Sitting position, sportiness/heaviness of the bike, etc. But I know alot of people are loving the naked bikes for their blend of sportiness/comfortable seating position.

This was my first bike, it is an Aprilia Pegaso Strada (660 cc single cylinder engine also found in the first gen MT-03). Altho in the Aprilia the engine was tuned for slightly higher and more responsive power output. It's a very underrated bike, especially in the US because they (to my knowledge) weren't really sold there. You see more of them in Europe, but still a niche bike that in reality is better than pretty much all of its competition.

1/10 for the cbr 500R because there is 2 young guys that keep trying to race me saying there’s only 100 cc difference between them and my 08 600RR. One of them even crashed into my brick mailbox while trying to do a burn out while I was washing my bike.

It is V12 cylinder Cummins, not a 12 valve Cummins. They are mostly ruff big half to 5 ton trucks, with big diesel engines.

It is indeed the Aprilia Pegaso Strada (also comes in Trail version). Strada has stock brembo and street bike setup, is pretty much just a lightweight agile street bike that is also decent for touring (not much against wind tho). It's an all around awesome bike that is severely overlooked.

My son hit a deer this last weekend while riding a friend's harley. Worse, he warned the group about the deer since night was falling. The deer is dead. The bike is dead. My son's hands are mangled from going through the windshield.
