Carl, same here. I’ve got a 2003 50th Anniversary convertible and never had a problem with the retractable antenna. One key, I think, is to keep a bit of lubricant on it and inspect it occasionally to keep it straight as possible. Living in San Antonio where it’s relatively dry, I RARELY take it through a car wash and wash it myself. Probably best to have a 3x5 card taped to the radio to tell the car wash workers “Retractable Antenna. DO NOT OPERATE RADIO”

I’m daily driving an 89 right now. L98 is a great motor and fun to drive

Greg, is your 50th Annie a targa top or FRC? Mine is a convertible and has the retracting antenna on the right rear fender.

@@GregSr Hmm....maybe it's because the targa top (what Chevy calls coupe) with its semi-fastback roof doesn't have much fender space in back. The convertible and the fixed roof coupe have short, relatively chopped off tops in back resulting in a much longer fender top next to the trunk lid. Anyway, that's my educated guess.

We hadn't had any significant rain for 3-4 months so the rain this past week was welcomed but some areas had some flash flooding.

Having always cleaned my car at home, too OCD and never thought paying somebody to do a job that was easy. Not to mention not water spotted when done. I ran afoul of a neighbor one weekend by squirting off me car on a Sat. I never leave water running down the street, just a rise off. Working away from home all week I was unaware that we could only water during the week when I wasn't home. Well, that nice neighbor called the water district who showed up when I was in the garage. I got a $300.00 fine on my next water bill. The person that I spoke with said what I did was a no-no, and I would be fined if they were called again. Funny that there was no water in the driveway or run off. Well, next time never happened, but the next bill did. I used to work with that neighbor and couldn't figure out why I was the target of all that. Having a Corvette? Luckly, I had a self-wash close to home and used it from then on. Maybe I should have put a Corsa system on for some good cold starts. But why mess with a system that works just fine stock.

Yes, you should change them. On age alone, they are very far out of their service life. I'll bet good money that once you chage them you will feel a very positive difference! Lyle

I think the FRC/Z06 has an antenna on the rear quarter panel. The one on my hatchback is in the windshield, though
