This is going to sound weird, but one of my favorite old fashioned "riffs" is 2oz Mellow Corn, 2 dashes of Bittermens tiki bitters and Smuggler's Cove Demerara syrup to taste. Usually around a scant barspoon for me, it's easy to blow the Mellow Corn out with too much sweetness. The tiki bitters read as very coke~ish to my palate, and play super well with the bourbon barrel notes from the Mellow corn.
ZACH!! This is a bold statement!! I literally just made the sexiest Old Fashioned ever!! I need to do a comparo ASAP!!! This def looks groovy!! CHEERS!!!
Wow. Gotta say, your vid inspired me to buy a bottle of PX and all i can say is....DAYUM! why didn't i know about this stuff sooner!!? Absolutely incredible sherry (that happns to make a superb Old Fashioned too). Thanks for the prod
Made it. Really good. Used an alternate Mexican bitters (cause that's what I had). Had not tried PX sherry. Wow, like liquid raisins. Thanks, this is awesome!
This is great, sadly I only have an Oloroso Sherry at the moment, I'll add this to my backburner of recipes to try! I'll be sure to make that hand gesture in my next vid as well 😆 Thanks for another great vid, Zach!
A riff I've been doing for a few months is what I call the "Old Passioned." Passionfruit syrup (1:1 by weight of sugar and passionfruit pulp) subbed for the simple syrup or cube and water. Either Ango bitters or Elemakule Tiki bitters.
Speaking of the Old Fashioned, check out this infinity Old Fashioned I made: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LKmxS6vDuWY.htmlsi=bliSf5uxaLdxzqyD Never head of an infinity cocktail? You're in for a treat: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j1ajVcv1kHc.html Cheers!
