The real protip imo is that you cant just mix the protein powder in as part of the dry ingredients - you HAVE to dissolve it into the liquids first, whisk it ferociously until well combined, and you will get a much less grainy final product.
aI hav to try this, so far I've made it three times and have messed it up each time but it still came out really good. Also, using oat flour makes a smoother product
ive made this one a couple times, find it tastes better if you add a pinch of salt and maybe some vanilla if you have it. it's so much better than the overnight oats ive been having it's not even funny
i have been eating this for breakfast for at least 6+ months now. instead of chocolate chips, i add about 4-5 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter with the dry ingredients. tastes better for me , absolutely love it!
I really, really appreciate you posting the weight of the ingredients and the temperature in Celsius. Almost all recipe channels I know only give it by volume and the conversion I need to to there is an additional step that's a bit annoying :-)
@@mathiashansen9108 yes as an American, I do think it's weird we haven't fully gone to metric. But as the creators of the automobile, driving should definitely be done on the right side of the road. Seems like a fair compromise! I will say though most vehicles all go by metric sizes now, even most "American made" vehicles. So when it comes to tools I'm good 👍
i must made this recipe with a plethora of substitutions to work with what i had on hand. one banana was substituted with applesauce, one cup of milk was subbed with almond milk, vanilla protein was subbed with chocolate hemp powder, some of the chocolate chips were subbed with dried cranberries. it still turned out well 👍
Ok, I just tried this and had two pieces hot out of the oven. I made one adjustment to the recipe because I only had two bananas and they still came out fine. Also based on other comments I added a little salt and about 1/2 teas of vanilla extract. I also used a smaller pan so I left it in the oven a little longer (maybe about 45 min- 1 hour). It was cooked thoroughly. I can see how it may be an improvement over the overnight oat recipes that are everywhere on social media...tho I haven't ever tried them. Also, this can add some nice variety over a regular bowl of cooked oatmeal. I also give it a plus for being gluten-free while maintaining a nice cake-like texture. I'm hopeful my kids will like them as a healthy-ish mid-afternoon snack to carry them thru after-school sports activities until dinner...Thanks Josh!
Thanks for the baked oatmeal recipes, they're so easy and macro friendly! I made a peanut butter and chocolate version this week with extra protein powder to hit my daily goals, and it's such a timesaver in the morning before classes!
I made this recipe a few times now and experimented using casein instead of whey protein. It needs few more minutes (around 5) but if you use the casein it comes out with an even better, more bread like consistency!
Does it need more liquid when using casein instead of whey though? Because usually casein kinda 'absorbs' more liquid than whey does (for example, 10 grams of whey protein mixed with 10 grams of water will be a completely runny mixture while the same amounts with casein instead of whey will turn into something pudding-like)
I love the way your articulate things. “You want more calories, cut it into large pieces. You want less calories, cut into smaller pieces” super funny to me, the cut and dry of it. Thank you. Another wicked recipe.
i did the strawberries and cream one too, but split the fruit between strawberries and raspberries and basically upgraded the creamcheese to full on cheesecake custard - use a whole package of cream cheese instead of half, add an egg, and up the sugar by a fair bit (i think i used about a half a cup, but i skip the macerating step so that saves me a bit). less healthy to be sure, but not by too much since it gets so spread out. it is ridiculously good. and less waste cuz id never do anything with the other half a pack of cream cheese lol. the raspberries also made it taste amazing, but those little seeds get annoying so next time i might just go strawberries cuz i dont wanna go through the extra step of breaking down the raspberries so i can strain out the seeds
Thanks four cutting out all the yadda yadda talk and getting straight to the point! Love your content, keep up the good work and please keep posting the weight in metric. It's so easier and way more exact.
Incredible... what an awesome recipe... being allergic to bananas I replaced them with fine shredded carrots... worked beautifully... reduced the amount of milk (due to the carrots) and left it for 1 hour in the oven... delicious... love your channel...❤️❤️❤️
By far my favourite food prepping channel now. Other creators often sacrifice flavour in the misguided place of "health and fitness" without having any realistic connections to still being a human being with taste buds. I've made numerous of these recipes and every single one has been delicious, easy and healthy.
Just made this for my meal prep this week and I'm so thankful to have someone like Chef Cortis in my corner to make sure I'm eating right and not being lazy with meals through the week. Delicious and stellar recipe.
Your previous PB&J baked oatmeal was a winner and I'm still tweaking it to my exact preferences but the fundamental recipe is good. Its shocking how satiating it is and I prefer the bar form to a bowl of oatmeal.
One of my favorite things about your recipe is your use of weight for measurement of everything instead of the stress of volumetric- thank you for your service ✌🏾
Just made this recipe, and holy moly it is delicious, and filling!!!!! I used banana flavored pea protein powder and it worked very well. Thank you for this recipe, cant wait to try your other ones
Once again another fantastic recipe! This looks so delicious! I’m particularly interested in making this for my fiancé who is very picky and doesn’t really care for oatmeal (he’s a big texture person) but he loves banana/chocolate chip flavors and I think this baked oatmeal recipe would be perfect for him! Thank you so much! 🥰 I do have one suggestion for a baked oatmeal flavor it’s one of my favorites from childhood so if you could find a macro friendly way to make it work I would LOVE it! Maple Brown Sugar baked oatmeal! Thanks again for the quality content! You’re one of the only RU-vids whose videos are both entertaining and informative to watch! I always watch through to the end and I never skip an ad! 😊
A good thing to mention is if you're using a deeper pan than will require more baking time, you might want to consider covering the oatmeal for a period of time when baking to prevent the top from burning or drying out too much.
Me and my partner LOVE these. We've made so many different versions of them now. I find that using vanilla extract, and halfing the honey or brown sugar helps cut the sugar while still giving it some sweetness.
@@TheMealPrepManual "Liked it" is an understatement. Today I cooked this banana baked oatmeal and your honey garlic bowls - it was amazing! I only discovered your channel like couple weeks ago, and every recipe I made was great. Thank you for doing this, your recipes and videos definitely encouraged me to step up my cooking game
Wow. This recipe was actually fantastic the very first time I made it. This has not happened with any of the other anabolic recipes I've tried. Thank you for this.
I love seeing all the HEB ingredients haha I never noticed them in videos before moving here; now I take notes to see what I should buy on my next grocery shop. Can't wait to try this!!!
I liked the strawberry oatmeal slice recipe so much, that I’m definitely going to like this one. This is going to be my breakfast meal prep for the week!
Hi Josh, I have recently started adding an additional scoop casein, to bump the protein a little more. My thinking is with the pancakes the casein works. The extra scoop of casein in the oatmeal works great!
I don't like protein powder so I instead blended up 2 cups of low fat cottage cheese and then used only 2/3 cup milk to compensate for the liquid from the cottage cheese. It came out really good, my wife and child's babysitter loved them. I'm making another batch now but also infusing the milk with a shot of espresso, my wife's suggestion and I thought it actually sounded pretty good.
Your pancakes recipe is so good! I use 100g of mixture with peanut butter and some honey dressing and lots of frozen fruits(microwaved) and it keeps me full for 6-8hours easy. Right at this moment im baking this one for this weeks breakfast. I have no doubt it will be just as good as pancakes. My plan is to drink 3 raw quail eggs with chilli powder, then some black tea for 1st hour or two in the morning, then eat a slice of this and hopefully it will be enugh till lunch, thats about 6-8 hours of wake time.
Made a bunch of these, parchment paper is your friend. Can pull the whole thing out in one go. Cut it up easier and less cleaning. Thanks for the ideas.
@@cb.1212 Just make sure the paper isn't sticking way up over the edges of the baking container and accidentally touches the heating coils in the over. Otherwise, it will be fine.
Hey Josh, I love the videos. One suggestion if you can simply add the weight of the total meal, that's something Im always looking for to make sure it fills me up.
PSA for those of you who have a lower-end baking dish (like me). Line it with parchment paper so you don't have to worry about spraying down the sides of the dish getting dirty/stickage. It takes the same amount of time to cook and you can just take it out by the extra paper and set it to cool outside of the baking dish without having to fish it out with a knife!
I’ve made this recipe more than once and it is so good. If you are messing around with a version of overnight oats including bananas and chocolate chips, do yourself a favor and just make this instead. Then come back and make the others because you’ll be hooked! I made the lemon blueberry version today
Your channel actually got me into considering meal prep as a student I live with my parents, but I often come back from the gym after the rest of the fam finished dinner, so I am def gonna try meal prep after Easter
@@TheMealPrepManual am interested in your opinion on one big container per item(ie rice or meat) compared to one smaller but per serving Do you see any advantage in smaller ones for home(they are cheap but 15 bucks is 15 bucks(and new stuff to store))
If you need to take it places then it’s best to separate into smaller containers but if you’re always eating at home it doesn’t really matter. It’s just convenient to take it out of the fridge in an already prepped amount
I make apple&carrot cinnamon oatmeal regularly and it's reeaally good. It's best to use baby carrots for this, bc they're just sweeter. I'll try the baked version next time
I've done a sweet potatoes casserole recipe. I think it would work with your set up with oats instead of a flour how I usually do it. You could do a diced up cooked sweet potato or a small can of puree or both. Maybe pecans on top, or some mini marshmallows near the end under the broiler just to toast them.
I made the apple version today for the week. Instead I used Truvia brown sugar sub, and almond milk to cut the calories back, but added 2 tbsp of melted peanut butter for some added fat and flavor. Can literally do anything you want with these oatmeal bakes.
I have just tried my first slice and its really good! I just realized that I used quick-cook oats (? Im not familiar with the English names here) definitely not the old-fashion oats. Still worked out fine with my cookie & cream whey. This will help me to get my weekly breakfast, which is usually end up skipping thanks! :)
Started making your meal preps last night, starting with the firecracker beef and the apple pie baked oatmeals. Both turned out quite good! I accidentally forgot to preheat the oven until right when I combined the wet & dry ingredients for the oatmeal, so I think it turned out softer than intended, but it still holds together and tastes just fine. I'll definitely be making more in the future! As for new flavors... I'm thinking maybe a pineapple and cherry (pineapple upside-down cake), and maybe a coffee-cake style one?
Thank you for these recipes. I'm not very creative when I'm trying to eat healthy so for the most part my dinners are still chicken accompanied by something. And I'm fine with that. But getting creative with a lunch/breakfast with these has been fun.
These look wonderful, but I personally gotta have some more protein per serving, especially when cutting. Do you think throwing in a couple more scoops of whey would mess this up?
I have banana pancake vegan protein powder (by Ghost). Probably grabbing the other ingredients tomorrow and see if it tastes alright. Love the channel Josh! Thanks for the recipes
Just found your channel and love all the various ideas you have for meals. I do much much more basic meal prep and I feel that the way you do it would give me more variety and make meals more enjoyable. I don't eat any dairy products aside from eggs and protein powders. Any recommendations for replacements to butter and milk that I see in quite a few of your recipes?
@@TheMealPrepManual i believe mcdonalds does the orange cranberry muffin thats really good, would probably be solid with the cream cheese icing or even an orange creamsicle oatmeal bake
Dude, these recipes are so baller lol, yesterday I made the blueberry-lemon baked oatmeal for my sister's birthday (doubled the lemon because it's my sister's favorite), and it came out awesome. I think carrot cake is up next, and I can't wait to see the recipe for the cinnamon roll!
Hi, just discovered your channel and already I love your channel. Quick question for you, as someone who's not that well educated with fitness are these recipes good for better eating and potential weight lost, I noticed you put protein powder in some of your recipes and wanted to know if they're still fine to consume for someone purely trying to lose weight and not bulk.
You can definitely use these to help you lose weight. Losing weight is ultimately about calorie deficit: burn more calories than you are consuming. If your breakfast options have been high in calories in the past and you are looking for lower calorie, yet filling breakfast foods that last you to lunch, you can try this recipe. The protein powder is just to add more protein to the dish. While it is associated with muscle building, protein also keeps you feeling full for longer than if you ate a high carbohydrate, low protein breakfast.
A few of my favourite versions include a pumpkin pie baked oatmeal and a saltet caramel chocolate version. Mango pineapple cheesecake baked oats is also fantastic! Thank you so much for the recipe and inspiration! These baked oats are so damn good!
I did it n added mini marshmallow forcmy grandkids, its yummy, thx. One suggestion if you could post recipe in writing, it was hard for me to stop n rewind n play rewind again. Bc bad memory, but it was yummy
Great and incredibly simple! However, I couldn’t find chocolate chips nearby, so I’ve added a melted bar of dark chocolate and some raisins to the final mixture. Another tasty variation.
These baked oatmeal recipes are really good, hope you upload the cinnamon one soon, as for flavour ideas. I think something with oranges could be good, maybe orange jaffa cake.
