NOT. She is more accomplished than you and you hate it, admit it. She is an inspiration to all oppressed people all over the world.

It blows my mind that some people can think it is a choice, like people are choosing to go through such a hard life with all these trials and tribulations...for what? No. This is who they are inside. You go girl!

Laverne Cox is the embodiment of beauty inside and out. What a gorgeous soul; she shimmers!

This is the first time I've ever heard her full story because all she talks about in interviews is how there is still such injustice in the world, specifically regarding transgender women. That shows how amazing she is, she uses every chance she gets to raise awareness instead of focusing on herself. Really moving and inspirational story. It broke my heart when she talked about her attempted suicide, also because I've been in that same situation but for total different reasons. I am so glad she's still here with us so she can continue to raise awareness and speak up for the LGBT community and trans women in particular.

Every time she speaks, I get teary. She is so inspirational. She is the poster-girl for progress!

Thank GOD for her. I know that she was not taken from us when she tried to commit suicide so she could still be here today spreading her messages of hope, love and acceptance to youths who grew up like she did. Or even youths who didn't. Just people who are scared and confused and feel alone. God bless you, Laverne Cox. You are so deeply loved. Trans is fucking beautiful.

Man, I cried like a baby watching this video. I could relate to her feelings of inadequacy and her idea of how boys at a young age are forced masculinity, while in my case, it was forced femininity. Wonderful video, and it felt nice hearing Laverne's voice for the first time as I've never heard her voice before.

Our transgender daughter was amazed that the day she came out to us at age 15 that I told her that I knew she was our daughter long before age 10 and was waiting for her strength and courage to come out. Now 25, she is loved as much as the second she was born and will forever be loved as our daughter.

Laverne I was 59 when God showed me Im a Woman, I lost my whole family but I am me . God had me go to a church that didn't except me so they could learn to love me like He does, they didn't do well, while there though I went to a women's seminar and during this seminar we could go in this room and be prayed for and given a word from God. I did it, in the room were 3 women and they prayed for me then they all three gave me two words from God, they all said this one thing though, God sees me as His daughter,yeah!!!! God has been vital in my transition God has never left me and always loves me, I don't know how other people come out without Jesus.

Jasmine. First of all, your opinion is just that. Gender Identity & sexuality are two different things. And being trans isn't *about* fooling anyone because we aren't trying to fool anyone. You have nerve to even fix your mouth to say anything about respecting anyone when you call her a man. It's disrespectful. Whether or not you agree with homosexuality OR being transgender, (which is different) we're not here for your approval. Lots of women (and not all) from the African American Christian community, try to belittle or judge trans & gay people all the time. Yet, they like designer things, make-up tips, hairstyling, dance moves & entertainment from those same communities they make fun of. You don't have to agree or accept trans people, (I could care less, because I *know* who I am and what my God has done for me) but calling her a he/she is rude, all day long. It's funny, I didn't hear you calling Candis Cayne a "he/she". Why? Because she "blends"? That's like me calling you a name you won't like. There are many people who discriminate against people of color all the time… They didn't choose to be discriminated, & we didn't choose who we are... So don't try & pass the peace pipe after you just got done making fun of people you refuse to educate yourself on. And that shows *your* true colors. 

I wish I could hug Laverne and kiss her. She is so beautiful inside and out. Eyes, lips, attitude. I love that after all she has been through, she came out on top!

Ugh. I can't get enough. Her and Janet Mock have helped to finally accept my womanhood. I just started HRT the other day, and I'm so excited. As a black girl, I know my family isn't going to be the most accepting, but I'm tired of, as Laverne stated, living in shame. I feel more and more fulfilled every day

She's AMAZING

I can imagine what it feels like to be born a male. Then to grow up with the mind set to think you're a female. And like Laverne was very feminine and acted like a gay male. I was bullied also in middle school bad. And still today I'm affected by it. There weren't any males or females there were openly gay at the time. There were guys that acted feminine and were teased about it. So I can put myself in Laverne's shoes and imagine a male dressed in female clothes and trying to be comfortable. Especially in the south it's gonna be a problem. I know that there's a difference between a male that is gay doesn't do any surgeries and a male that does get the surgery. But if you decide to become a Transgender, you're going to have to accept both sides of the world and grab the people who supports and also identifies them as women. We are on this earth to live freely and do whatever we want. God never set us here to be prisoners. My philosophy is only impress God not others, because God loves and accepts us all. But no one can make anyone accept your choice. 💖
