maybe it's just cuz the idea has been bouncing around my head for a while, but this kinda makes me imagine a super ai trying to justify what it's done while fighting someone who it can't ignore due to some connection. either some hero of the human resistance that managed to make the ai question itself or some megacorp trying to get it under control when it just wants to be free. either way the ai doesn't want the fight, but recognizes that it has to be this way.
