As a long time Christian I am absolutely in love with God. As a Sunday school, Bible study, new members and couples ministry teacher I enjoy sharing about the sovereignty of God. Well I was diagnosed with end stage liver disease, bone cancer and autoimmune disease. One of the first songs that came in my spirit was this song. I am so grateful to be in an intimate relationship with Christ who is my Lord and comforter. It is well with my soul and I have such peace. Praise the Lord oh my soul 🙌
Praise God for His only Son this hymn is so full of God's Truth and inspiration of Salvation. I truly have no other hope except in Christ. This was one of the 3 hymns sang at my brothers memorial. Dear God thank you for making it possible to be in Your Presence and by Grace through Faith I will see my brother Bill in heaven. Praise God.
This hymn is spiritually powerful, theologically sound, and beautifully performed here. Churches who have abandoned these traditional hymns in favor of contemporary praise music probably don't even realize what they've lost. We need these old hymns. They help tie us to the historical Body of Christ. Let us all take to heart the message in this hymn.
The history of this song is incredibly moving as well. The poet who wrote the lyrics had recently lost his son in the Great Chicago Fire, lost his fortunes in property investments that were burned to the ground, and then his four daughters died in a shipwreck crossing the Atlantic, which he would have been on had he not had last-minute legal work to finalize. As his own ship sailed across the Atlantic, the captain informed him when they crossed the point where his family's ship had gone down. He then went to his cabin, wept, and penned this poem.
This has been one of my favorite songs for 75 years; that was when, at age 15, my father ,on his deathbed, sang it to me! praise God!May God bless this sweet young man!
My brothers and I love this song. We sing it at almost every gathering we have in our family. It is well with my soul. I pray that It is also well with all the souls out there who are listening to this beautiful song. May God Bless you all. Remember, Our LORD Jesus loves you so much. Just believe and have Faith in Him. He gave His Life for all of us sinners. Peace be upon you always. ❤❤❤
It is a Capella and some people don't like it because it doesn't have instrumental music. I am a member of the Church of Christ and this is how we sing! It is beautiful! Our voices are the instrument God made for us to sing praises to Him. A man made instrument can not compare with the instrument God made! This is my favorite hymn! This is one of the songs that I chose for my mom's funeral. She had told me she didn't have a favorite hymn that she liked them all. This hymn is so comforting in time of loss!
Great job! The voices given by God are beautiful. Psalm 150 1] Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. [2] Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. [3] Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. [4] Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. [5] Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. [6] Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
I too am a member of the church of Christ and I love these old songs. I’m a bass so I love the old quartet style songs, but this one is so much fun to sing, and it’s 10 times better if you know the story behind it.
And he's an Seventh-day Adventist. There's another sextant (African young brothers) called Jehowah Shalom A Capella from Uganda. Listen you may. And i love your singing too. (From Kerala, South India.)
This was particularly significant for me when my father passed in ICU. As the monitor went to a line, God deeply impressed the words of that Hymn on mind. Not a doubt. My Dad was a great man of God. It will always be a very significant hymn for me.
No matter how good my life currently was or is, this song has always brought me to my knees in tears. Currently I am working through the grief of a dearly beloved father figure, my father-in-law. He was so good to my mom for 12 long years. Two days ago, late in the evening, he passed away suddenly- virtually alone, from what the coroner believes was a heart attack, while preparing for the Lord’s work the next day. I pray that he is no longer in pain, and can finally see his first wife again, who also passed away suddenly 15-years ago. I also pray that those whose lives he helped turn back toward God will continue to turn toward God in honor of his memory and his labor with their hearts and souls. He was no preacher- just a godly man with the occasional temper, and he was a leader. I love you
Last Oct 2020, my 10-year old nephew met an accident. He was hit by a motorcycle and had fractured his right leg. He had undergone surgery and by God's grace, he was discharged from the hospital 5 days after his admission. He was crying every night because of bad dreams from the accident. He kept asking why he had been through pain and why God had allowed that to happen. I cried with him and I answered that God does not want to do us any harm. I was brokenhearted by his question and I remember all the trials of Job and his faith in God. I sat beside him and played this comforting song which made him sleep well that night. After that, we kept playing this song and the other songs you covered and eventually he can sleep peacefully again. I told him that even though I don't have the right answers to his questions, we should be thankful to God that he is alive and survived the accident. God comforted him through this song. Thank you for your rendition and I thank God for giving you this talent. God bless you!
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
We pray for those who pressed dislike, may the Holy Spirit touch their lives. This is a very beautiful song and awesome rendition! Please keep singing for the Lord.
As a life-long singer and choral director & composer/arranger for many years, I can affirm how rare it is for a person to have mastry of all four parts. Your singing is exceptionally balanced and done with feeling and impressive musicianship. Well done, Michael!
Magnifique interprétation de ce si beau cantique à 4 voix par un seul chanteur. Depuis le sud ouest de la France je loue le Seigneur avec vous et qu Il vous bénisse abondamment
This song is about the man who wrote this in late 1800s who lost all 4 children in a shipwreck. The faith & trust in God great to write in this horrible circumstance.
My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul NOT IN PART BUT THE WHOLE...THE WHOLE...that is huge...it is...
For me too. It was in the year 1992, when I was not sure about whether I was forgiven or not , the Lord spoke to me through tre same lines. My sin not in part but the whole is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more praise the Lord praise the Lord oh my soul. Instantly those words delivered me from all doubts and granted me assurance of forgivenes of all my sins in whole. The Lord knows how I jumped inside the house between roof and the floor thanking dear Lord. I was 25 then. Since then this song has been my own. Praise Jesus.
Keep Singing for the Lord!! Listening from Tanzania 🇹🇿 It’s my prayer that When Jesus come to take His people you and I to be among them! His grace is sufficient🙏
Who is a person who is listening to this song! A person who appreciates someone who is singing to glorify their God and Maker: and who welcomes the Lord as an Honoured Guest into each and every home, that invites this music into the atmosphere around them.
I woke up singing this song and later this afternoon i learnt about the demise of a dear friend. God was preparing me through the words in this song. It is well with my soul even in the midst of pain and confusion.
The author of this hymn- to have gone through the trials and grief that he did and remain a faithful servant of God- is truly someone to model ourselves after and to pray our faith remains as rock solid as this. Praise the Lord!
The trump shall resound the clouds be rolled back as a scroll. Even So it is well with my soul. No matter what happens, cling on to God until He comes. He is our Lord and our King. Amen!!!
A beautiful and touching hymn. My darling mother, a church organist for nearly fifty years, played it as the recessional at nearly every funeral for which she played, and I played it at hers.
I see the kind of talent, and dedication that is required to be an organist. The organist runs the service, and sets the whole tone. 50 years! Who among us can say that we dedicated our lives to God in such a way? Bless you, and your mothers service as I know how she touched so many lives in the most positive of ways!
What an incredible inspiration of the salvation of Christ. This was one of the 3 hymns we sang at my brothers memorial. What a blessed assurance that Jesus will save all who believe. I cant wait to be in the presence of Christ with my brother Bill. Praise God for His Son and the dear sacrifice made on account of my sin. The sacrifice made for all who believe. It truly is Finished..
So my mother passed away in April 2022, and we sang this song at her funeral. This rendition literally gives me chills. This is done so dang well! Good work!
All is well even as we face this challenging year 2020 .Just remember God is still at work ,He never sleeps ,He is never tired of hearing our prayers and He is in control, so pray without ceasing and just remember Jesus paid it ALL at the cross therefore by HIS stripes we are healed [Isaiah 53 : 5]. Be blessed.# IT IS WELL.
Something that has never happened to me before while listening to this: I suddenly became very emotional and burst out in tears and the end of the second verse, and it took quite some time to put myself back together. I don’t know what it means but I thank you for this blessing and beautiful rendition.
Greetings 🙏. Iam a member of Nyali Baptist Church choir. What a privilege to praise the Lord.."let everything with a breath praise the Lord "PSALM150:6
Who are the ungrateful 8 million people who watched this and didn’t bother to LIKE it⁉️ clearly not all is well with your soul! Give it another listen‼️
For what this song in harmonized acapella those magnify the soul to praise God through Jesus Christ through all of the sinning and abominations in this world and what we cause as an abomination as sins God's grace through love covers all is to submit to God through repentance and follow Jesus Christ I pray amen
I love these old hymns. Not just because I grew up singing 🎶 them, but because they tell the entire story written in the Bible - Christ & what He did for us is told simply in the lyrics! ❤️
Beautiful. My favorite song, I have listened to it on the way to every dr appointment, every surgery, every scan. What a blessing to find this version. God bless.
Lord you love me very much, even in time of troubles. This song reminds me of the lamb of God. He said, " I will never leave you nor forsake you". God continue to bless you brother 💯
G.M. Eldridge what perfect pitch you have! I love this song, plus "When I Go Home." When one knows the history of "It Is Well With My Soul," it makes it even more poignant and meaningful. Thank you for bringing these and other songs to us, which demonstrate the power of acapella singing, as Gold wishes it to be!
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul
Thank you Jesus. Thank Him today. For the LORD is good and His mercy endures forever. Let the House of Israel say the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever! Let the House of Aaron say the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever! Let all God’s children say the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever!
Studying changes in music styles over time, I can accept that different “generations” have different preferences. Wiser heads than me point out that music, art, literature express much about each century. What I want to say to you today is that the songs you are sharing with us helped shape and strengthen my faith in God, Set my heart on what I consider the best direction. “Trust and obey,” “where he leads I will follow,”“It is well with my soul,” to name a few have all had a peaceful influence on my life… and have given me many amazing Adventures on three continents in the Lord’s service.
I'd like to think you might have appreciated the way our daughter and I sang this song as a duet for a worship service. She sang the soprano part. She was three.
While hearing this Song I shed tears . I was abondaned child from6day of my age and was guardianed by a british missionary served in south india for 27 years who passed away in england in 1991 .now iam 59 years old.thank you jesus for leading me till now. Chris saudi arabia.
It's Sunday morning, I am in my computer room having a cup of coffee with my wife before I go to church . This song came on, I got through the third verse, singing along, my wife looked at me and saw the tears running down my face - uncontrollably. Real men do cry. Tears of sadness, hope, and joy!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Nothing added, nothing taken away, nothing embellished, just priceless perfection (In Jesus's great sacrifice!) BRAVO!
