Welcome aboard Gabriel. In JESUS you have an Abiding FRIEND. Stay Blessed. Hope to meet you in HIS FATHER's House across the Rainbow Bridge in the Fullness of time.
All the glory be to God our Loving and compassionate Lord Jesus. Your comment is so beautiful. Jesus is your refuge. This comment reminded me of what the prophet Isaiah says; "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.' [Isaiah 65:1] God bless you and may you grow in your knowledge, wisdom that He alone gives you and understanding of Him. I love you with the love of Jesus Christ. I am very happy for you and wish you a steadfast and faithful journey with our Lord, Saviour and Friend. May God bless you richly in Spirit. Sleep well and be at ease under your Heavenly Father's care.

My Grandma passed on December 29 2023. I've been doing well with my grieving process. Today I listened to The Old Rugged Cross and the tears started to flow.
Sitting in the HK Airport and waiting for the flight to Sydney. Feeling sad, lonely and helpless as I am leaving my home town of which I was grown up. Listening to this song and praying to God, knowing my future is in the hand of my Lord.
I was trying to find something to help me to carry my cares, but I found this song. Now I have something to listen to when I'm sad. When all my plans and my dreams just have been frustrated, Jesus made me find this song. Thanks God, for the life of these people.
Within a few seconds I had tears of gratitude run down my face... No fog machine and no light effect of this world can lead our hearts to Jesus! His truth alone can do this. So let us sing to the LORD WITH OUR HEART, setting a tune (Eph 5:19) and "teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom." Let us sing in humility and in the fear of the LORD. Be blessed, all of you :)
My mom passed away in April in China due to liver cancer, I could not go back to give her a hug. And I have been isolated till now, feel devastated. However I refused To be discouraged. Maybe because of the anxiety I developed dry mouth And Now dry eyes .( doc can not tell if it’s SS)As a teacher I have to work on computer all day long to deliver remote lessons now it’s even harder with the dry eyes! I pray Constantly and try To focus on our God instead of focusing on the Pain. And these songs really bring me comfort thank you so much praise the Lord !please say a prayer for me thank you.
My Dad Dr Tualchin Neihsial left this world on the 21st November 2022. This hymn is one of his Favorite. I Miss him so much n it's hard to accept it. Why do you have to leave me Daddy 😭😭😭
Ha! I recognized church of Christ roots by the time they hit the second stanza. LOVE THIS OLD CLASSIC. Prayer is not a list to Santa Claus. It's not about eloquence in front of the congregation. It's pouring out your woes and weaknesses and struggles and then waiting for His comfort, wisdom, and strength. It's a two way exchange. It's getting close to our Btother, who sympathizes with our struggles and weaknesses. Message never gets old, never irrelevant.
It is a beautiful song indeed. Sorry to hear of your losses, but the hope of every faithful child of God, is that death has no power over them. When we die, the Bible says, "Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7). We are not conscious or aware during death. Psalms 146:4 says "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." We cannot think or communicate when we have died because "The body without the spirit is dead” (James 2:26). Just as Adam became a LIVING soul AFTER God breathed the breath of life into him, we can only be ALIVE when the breath of life is in us. When this breath or the spirit of life returns to God, we are no longer living, and are mere dust or a corpse. The spirit that returns to God is not the person without the body, it is simply the life giving power of God. Nowhere in all of God’s book does the “spirit” have any life, wisdom, or feeling after a person dies. It is the “breath of life” and nothing more. So when people die, they cannot be in heaven with the Lord looking down on us. Their thoughts perish. The soul of a person according to Genesis 2:7 is THE BODY/DUST +THE BREATH OF LIFE = LIVING SOUL. "The Lord God formed man of THE DUST OF THE GROUND, and breathed into his nostrils the Breath Of Life; and man BECAME A LIVING SOUL” Notice the Bible did not describe the breath of life as being the person without their body. WE CAN ONLY EXIST WHEN THE BREATH OF LIFE IS IN OUR BODIES. This is why Solomon said, "The living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun. … There is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10). The righteous saints of God do not go to heaven immediately after they die. David was righteous yet Acts says "“David … is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. … For David did not ascend into the heavens” (Acts 2:29, 34). Those who die in Christ will partake of the first resurrection. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1Thessalonians 4:16&17. The unrighteous dead will not be resurrected until the second resurrection, the resurrection of damnation. "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." John 5:28&29
In Greenland, THIS hymn melody has the TEXT of the house, that is built on a rock, can never fall. We sing it at baptism in church. 🥰 When we experience the Grace, The Love, and The Mercy bestowed upon a little child, our hearts become one. In Love, in Unity. In The Holy Spirit.❤😢🥰
Beautifull! I think this song is sung worldwide. It is Wonderfull to be His Friend. Praise the Lord for what He have done for us through Jezus Christ. ❤❤❤
Wleh Jr This is one of those songs that never sound old to me, but rather edified my spirit reflecting on our Lord Jesus Christ, who bold the cross for our sake. Amen.
Reminds me of my Dad so much. He made our family to sing this song every evening when he was still a fresh Theology graduate . RIP Daddy😭 I will see you in the morning. Will always miss your beautiful Bass.
God bless you!!!!! Thank you God! What a privilege it is indeed! Thank you Jesus! Thank you! And thank you Holy Spirit for giving these fine people the talent to sing . God Bless!
In this dark and chaotic, "is there trouble anywhere," this hymn provides not a solution or answer, but a Savior and Lord, "take it to the Lord in prayer." I am hoping that this song leads me assuredly into my eternal home.
This will always remind me of my lovely mother. Many years ago (I'm 62) we used to go to a very small church down the road, and every fortnight we'd have Cottage meetings.. service held in someone's home. Well my mom used to make these wonderful tasty sausage rolls (hmmm) and when it was our turn to host, we'd be in a hot kitchen, mom doing her thing, dishes piling high, and when first guests arrived we'd be sticking pans and dishes in various places (the microwave, the washing machine, wherever) and choef chuff the kitchen was clean, all the while my mom would be singing..and that was one of her favourites.. I'm so thankful she, my dad, 3 brothers, 1brother-in-law, a couple friends, extended family members, do not have to endure the tyranny and uncertainty of today. May our Heavenly Father, Almighty God bless you for sustaining us with your voice and song.
I dont think I have every really taken in all the words and meaning of this song before. I do not have many fellow human friends that have really been able to live up to my needs or expectations. It has taken this long to realise that humans cannot fill this need and be there for me whenever I need them. It is not even fair to ask. But with Jesus and God, it is different. They are there whenever I need them instantly. I should never have expected so much out of other humans, we are just not able to be perfect, that is why I think we are hear to learn about love and compassion. We are still learning but I can be given the help I need instantly and that is what this song is about. Thank you .
Not my sins nor my flaws can hinder me from the love of Christ Jesus but the mercy of God through Jesus Christ is to lead me to repentance and as Joshua says"as for me and my house hold,we will serve the living God,the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob through faith in Christ Jesus by submissive to his teachings.
All these dear brothers and sisters sound BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER...!! Praise JESUS CHRIST! When you are ultra-talented as Michael Eldridge is it must be hard to find people to sing with, but he could SING every song on his RU-vid Channel all over again with this exact group AND IT WOULD BE SWEET!!
No exaggeration, this is the most beautiful acapella singing I have ever heard. Thank you for this sweet musical encouragement, brothers and sisters in Christ! ❤ Love and blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
