And how can you not get chills on Verse 3. "My sin, o the bliss of this glorious thought. My sin not in PART but IN WHOLE is NAILED TO THE CROSS and I BEAR IT NO MORE! Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, O my soul. That verse gets me every time.
Yes, @Cubicle Bear, my sentiments exactly. I always brush away tears at that verse, and have instructed this is to be sung at my Memorial. PRAISE THE LORD!!!
This has always been one of my favorite hymn, mainly because of the events that inspired the words Horatio Spafford was a successful American lawyer and real estate investor. In 1870s, his only son died due to scarlet fever. A year after, the Great Chicago fire happened and almost all of his investment were burned to the ground. To lift the family spirits, he encouraged them to attend a Christian rally in England. He was called back due to work so he asked his family to board a ship and go before him. The ship was struck by another vessel in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. All of his daughters died and only his wife was rescued. On his way to pick up his wife, he passed the place where the ship sank. While looking at the waters that claimed his daughters lives, he wrote the first few lines of the song: "when peace like a river, attendeth my way. When sorrows like sea billows role. Whatever my lot, though has taught me to say. It is well, it is well with my soul."
Lord, I trust that you are ever with me in all situations, and so, I am convinced that all is well with my soul!

Philippians 4:11-13 KJV [11] Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. [12] I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. [13] I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
True look at the world there is no satisfaction before they amass wealth by the millions now by the billion no fulfilment friend, Gods word said if you die now nothing you can bring your wealth only to be given to others sometimes coz of fight even close relatives

I love hymns so much,as a Wesleyan church (Methodist)son I was born into it and I'm very proud of being member and a leader in the church.I thank the founder JOHN WESLEY and his brother the hymn writer CHALSE WESLEY for showing us the good way.
To me, when the entire congregation sings acapella, each and every soul in the service is now an instrument for God's worship. You're a part of it in a way that you don't get if you are just a person in the audience while a choir sings and/or a band plays. And you're not singing along with the music in the way you would be with the band or choir. You ARE the band. You ARE the choir. You ARE the instrument making music unto the Lord.
This song is beautiful! Have you ever heard the story of this song? It’s incredibly sad, but shows us how we are to always trust in God so that, even when tragedy strikes, we can still say “it is well with my soul”. Love the recording!
@@acappellahymns Horratio Spafford experienced more loss and tragedy than we may ever feel in our lifetimes. I cannot do the tale justice: www.umcdiscipleship.org/resources/history-of-hymns-it-is-well-with-my-soul
Beautiful! Singing was fist in the Bible when Israel was redeemed out of slavery No record of angels singing in the Bible No other creature besides humans can sing in harmony.
Really great! “That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate and shed his own blood for my soul”. I don’t remember if that verse isn’t in our song books or if we just skip it but I’m gonna see about correcting that. Very moving.
Glad you enjoyed!! That verse is the 2nd one in the book I normally use - Praise for the Lord - and seems to be the 2nd verse in all the hymnals I have. Unfortunately there are some hymnals that omit some very excellent verses like that one!
I don't know who has posted this series of a capella hymns, but --- I really enjoy these arrangements! I am a shapenote singer and I enjoy these traditional harmonizations -- very well done.
This hymn was written after traumatic events in Spafford's life. The first was the death of his son at the age of 2 and the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a successful lawyer and had invested significantly in property in the area of Chicago that was extensively damaged by the great fire). His business interests were further hit by the economic downturn of 1873, at which time he had planned to travel to Europe with his family on the SS Ville du Havre. In a late change of plan, he sent the family ahead while he was delayed on business concerning zoning problems following the Great Chicago Fire. While crossing the Atlantic, the ship sank rapidly after a collision with a sea vessel, the Loch Earn, and all four of Spafford's daughters died. His wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, "Saved alone …". Shortly afterwards, as Spafford traveled to meet his grieving wife, he was inspired to write these words as his ship passed near where his daughters had died.
Pajamix A life totally surrendered to God is guided by the Almighty God. When trials like sea come to you, the one that guides your life gives you the peace that surpasses understanding! And you can say...."It Is Well With My Soul." Let us hold on to the promises of God. Soon and very soon. He who promised to come will come and will not tarry. MARANATHA. Anne Ogutu
Ese himno me hace llorar. Ya venga la prueba o tentado del mal no mengua mi fe ni mi amor, pues Cristo comprende mis luchas mi afan y su sangre vertió en mi favor
Another outstanding song. Love this one too. You've been doing a lot of songs that I wasn't very familiar with (which is fine, please keep producing whatever content you wish). It's good to click over to your channel and see some of my favorites popping up. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about copyrights so I'm not going to suggest any content.
Excellent work. I particularly love your bass lines. And I appreciate the purely vocal expressions of these great songs, as opposed to the flowery, elaborate instrumentals a lot of Christian music features. A simple, 'stripped-down' sound brings out the profundity of the lyrics much better, in my opinion. Blessings!
Is this written to be song so fast? I don't read music; I just sing as I am used to hearing it. I noticed a few of the songs you put up are faster than I am used to. Thank you so much for taking the time to put up good music!
I personally like to sing the last verse considerably faster than the first verses, since the lyrics speak of "haste[ning] the day" of His return. The words or message of the song should dictate the tempo in most cases. Very well done, by the way. I appreciate your work and hope you will upload more soon.
Monotone would mean that all the notes are the same. You're right that most of my recordings lack 'feeling'. But that's not the main purpose of these recordings. If I can get just one more person learning a hymn that they've never known or get one more person learning to sing a harmony part, I'll be happy!
I dont want piano or guitar or brass bands or orchestra or the mormon tabernacle choir or jazzy pop. Sometimes i want a simple acapella hymn like i grew up with.
Permission would have to be granted through email. Tell me about your ministry and how you would want to use my video. My email can be found on the 'about' tab of the main channel page. If it's just part of a gaming channel or something, permission would not be granted.
Glad you enjoyed! This one, and thousands of others, can be found in many church hymnals. You can also find printable scans on Hymnary.org (a really great resource!).
