Keep in mind that the main purpose of these videos is to help folks learn harmony parts to hymns and not to sound perfect. These recordings will sound a touch raw for a few reasons; I am not a trained singer, I am using very simple recording hardware, my recording 'studio' is a couple of spare mattresses set on end to eliminate unwanted sound reverberations.
If you enjoy the way that these hymns are sang and want to experience them in person, stop by just about any church of Christ and they'll likely be singing them the same way. Without instruments.
My recording process:
-Record each part on a Rode NT1-A to a Zoom H4 recorder
-Some pitch correction in Melodyne
-Mix in Mixcraft 6
-Combine audio and sheet music in Corel VideoStudio X7
-Music is typeset in Finale 2012 by me or borrowed from PDHymns.com

The author is JS Torbett. I believe the date is 1924 but I'm not 100% sure of that.

I told them that I was great friends with you! We ended up singing along to several songs. They said that they listen to your recordings often because you feature the older hymns they heard as children. You had many of their "favorite songs" on your channel. It made my day to be walking through the library and recognizing your voice!

Ok. I’ll look again. Thanks. There are so many we know the numbers of the songs in the book by their numbers. When we came to church we would see them up on the board and be happy we were singing them that day. I appreciate the work you’re doing so much. Thanks again!

Hello Ms. Lisa. All of these recordings come straight from church hymnals. I got this one out of a hymnal called Praise for the Lord. But it's also available in others. A Cappella Hymns Right! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do though. May be the case here. You can only hope they're willing to work something out where both you and them are happy. I'm sure you could somehow. Maybe get in touch with Facebook and see what they can do. I replied to one of those comments myself! At the least I hope it ends up with more people subscribing.

A Cappella Hymns Ha wow. I guess they thought putting your link up was enough. Sad. So, I have a couple of questions. 1. What was that all about with them saying you weren't a "Church of Christ brother?" Haha that was a little weird. 2. More technical, but I was reading some of the comments and it led me to this...if a group decided to update from Sacred Selections to say Praise for the Lord or Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs but they didn't have a CCLI, would it technically be illegal for them to sing out of it or for them/members to have them? I was a little confused about that...

@@acappellahymns it's a great song. I'm musically illiterate, otherwise I'd re do the song in a a different arrangement. The ladies have a beautiful part, but it tends to get drowned out by the tenor and bass parts.

This is not a real organ. Real organ have pipes and fo kot require electromagnetism to make sound. Real organs also are safe for pacemaker patients to be around without worrying about the music effecting the very thing keeping them alive. But, churches do not care about that, now, do they?
