This episode, “Cement the Relationship”, was added on late in the season to the initial full season pick up ordered by CBS. Lorimar Productions (the one time television mini-major that eventually became part of Warner Bros. Television) and the “Knots Landing” show runners had already plotted out the storylines over the course of the initial episode count when the additional show was ordered. Scrambling to rewrite the shows leading up to the cliffhangers in “Cement”, they extended the drama and crafted one of the best season-ending episodes of any serial ever, featuring Donna Mills in a taut, riveting performance ratcheting up the suspense to Hitchcockian levels. A not-to-be-missed tour-de-force of a fan favorite series that never received the critical acclaim it deserved.
Really? Now that is interesting! So the original cliffhanger was Abby walking in and seeing Olivia with Peter's body in the club? I always thought back then that would've been an effective finale but this final scene pushed the story one step further, and quite brilliantly too...
An episode or two after this, Karen & Mack are discussing Abby's possible guilt and Karen says "I just can't see Abby in her Italian pumps dragging his body out there and burying it".... Classic KL!! Miss it so much.
One of the best Cliffhanger ever told on tv. This started the week before. Abby would do anything for her kids. I rank this Cliffhanger in my top 5 of best of the best. Only who shot JR on Dallas was the top. But Knot's has 2 or 3 Cliffhanger in my top 10. This show was brilliant Miss u Knot's
This was one of Knots' best cliffhangers. But it could only have been written in the 80s. Nowadays, a big resort like Lotus Point would have security cameras everywhere, and Abby couldn't have hidden Peter's body without being recorded on multiple cameras. Wonder how the writers would handle this today?
Even though I did not watch Knots as much as I watched the other soaps. I did see this episode.How did Abby manage not to get dirty or sweaty? How did Abby find the strength to move Peter's body and how did no one see what she was doing?!! Great story! Even though you had to be willing to suspend disbelief! I mean really!! Donna Mills was and is great! Take care!
KEVIN SHELTON Abby, was very motivated, too get rid of that body, too protect her daughter, Olivia! As, you saw for yourself, in the opening scene, there was just enough time, for her to stash, Peter's body, in the DJ booth, before the staff, came in, too set up, the club, for lunch! And, it's obvious, Abby, found the physical strength, within herself, too move a man's body. Probably, one of the best episodes, in Knots history! Hard, too believe, it was over thirty years, ago!
I grew up watching KNOTS LANDING, and vividly remember seeing this thrilling season finale, ans well as the promos for the following season's premiere..."Start untying the knots!". Something I've always wondered is exactly what was Lotus Point? A golf/country club? A convention center-type place? A resort? And whatever happened to it? Just seems to have disappeared in later seasons.
It was a vacation resort /business company started up by Abby ,Gary,And Karen...In 1989 Right before Abby moved to Japan it was turned in to a wild life sanctuary..Also in 1989 It was wived in to the Sumner group story line a well..Karen took Paula V. There to get the goods on the Murkuame story line witched caused the computer Virus ECT..XD
It reminded me of a lot of Laughing brook in hampden Ma . I am not sure If you know it..It is a wildlife preserve too. I watched knots over the other soaps any day off the week..Funny how in the next years cliffhanger Jill would also be at another airport..??..XD
And I think when Donna Mills left the show It didn't have much place in the series afterwards...After all Abby did say " I was the one who built Louts Point from the ground Up"..Not that Abby was tooting her own horn..??..OH no..??..XD
cosmetic i guess, it must be a settling crack, if its not one thing its another, i hope its a settling crack, or else it could be structural, oh boy then we're really in trouble KAREN REALLY HAMS IT UP! I LOVE the juxtaposition between Karen and Abby. Donna Mills is simply brilliant but Karen plays the "always butting in to every detail" card so well, that you know is just eating at Abby!
@jksonny Right, but all the women vacated the show because the writers were all men and were writing them in a very repitive storylines. i.e Sue Ellen: She either was with JR or without him, drunk, or with another man, or all.
