Dad got his hands on the 50th Anniversary Edition of the Disney Monorail Playset and set out to get it under his new tree. Things went about as well as they normally do for Dad. "This looks like it won't take long at all", famous last words. This Monorail is pretty awesome with working doors and a remote! Disney did lie about you being able to make the track into a circle though...

I just set this up yesterday. The rail at the station platform has three perpendicular bumps that a plunger on the bottom of the cars uses to stop at the perfect place to align the doors to the hand rails. If you omit the station platform and just use rails, it will continue looping around the track instead of stopping on every loop. Will also let you set it up as an actual, smaller circle as well.

The operation of that playset is much better than the older variants. They had no remote and a push button that ran a simple audio loop. All the doors had to open manually as well.

For $125, I’d probably buy it if I can find it at Magic Kingdom or Disney Springs when I get there on January 14th. I guess it’s too much to hope that it’s at the Outlets before January 30th.

Did you find that you needed the track in a certain configuration in order for the monorail to stop at the station each time? (I have a longer, custom track configuration as it goes around the top of my ceiling. Can’t get it to stop at the station).

Getting it to stop seemed to be based off of the direction the monorail went. It stops going in one direction and not in the other.

I have all circular tracks in place but a few of the pylons are not laying flat, so the train gets stuck there. Any advice?

It’s like a large oval. It does work with all the pieces but it is just particular lol.

You needed another tree for your ornament addiction. Admit it. I think the lamp post bushes are supposed to be hanging flower baskets. How tall are your ceilings? 😂 I’ve seen train tracks suspended from the ceiling. I always wanted to do that.

Ever since I saw this video I wanted to get a 50th anniversary monorail. I started to put it together and I can't see how to get the track together with one stanchion missing. I know you had a difficult time, how did you get the track fit to go around??? (I counted the parts and I have everything!!!!). Should have better instructions included I believe. Maybe me.

If you want a circle you have to not use the station.

You cant make a circle with the station The best you can do is a shorter oval by not using the 2 straight ones.
