I remember watching this scene in the theater when this film came out - left an impression on me at the time..

Saw on this on VHS at 4 years old circa 1990, and nothing will ever compare to this film. I've since heard the original cast recording from the Broadway original, and it's great, but this movie is beyond. I still enjoy it today. Shame the critics bashed it at the time. I was disappointed to find that out when I grew up and looked up the movie's history online. Oh well. I love it anyway. It feels like a real Hollywood musical from the old days, and Carol Burnett is just insane in this role, she really ought to have been given an Academy Award for it.

This song is so gymnastics and so good definitely fun my first favorite way getting into the song doing the song telling you the dancing and singing with the gymnastics including the laughter makes it the best

Orphanages during the depression weren't regulated or had requirements to meet, and so sadly their caretaker was an alcoholic who would use physical punishment... the paddle closet. I guess it could be worse for those girls... they could be in the workhouse.
