I love seeing Angelina sing with this orchestra, because they adore her! It's so much fun to watch the musician's faces. Of course, the performance is stellar. There's another that I love with this orchestra, "Cry Me a River". Angelina smashes it!
Not sure anyone mentioned it but this song (studio recording) is on the "It's Magic" album still available everwhere you find Angelina's music. There is something special about her in this live performance, though, you just don't get from the audio file.

As this was an album's release concert, no professional recording equipment was allowed (mobile phones only) and there was a pond between the stage and the audience, so there was quite a distance for the recording equipment to cover. We fans are happy to have a recording at all - and anyone wanting better quality is strongly advised to buy the album, which is still available to buy. The Norwegian Armed Forces Staff Music Corps (Forsvarets stabsmusikkorps) is Norway's largest professional brass band and celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2018. To mark this anniversary the orchestra went into the studio to record an album in November 2017 and they asked 11yo Angelina Jordan to do the vocals on the album. As a special tribute to Angelina, the two originals Angelina had at the time and her signature song “Fly me to the Moon” were also released on the album. There is some footage online on YT with rehearsal stuff and very interesting takes from recording sessions related to this album (most prominent “I’m a fool to want you” and “cheek to cheek”). The album was released in May 2018 on the Forsvarets Musikk record label, it is called “It’s Magic” and contains 16 Tracks - three of which are instrumental. The band is based in Oslo and participates in parades and ceremonies for Norwegian royalty, the government and the armed forces, and tours throughout Norway and abroad. In addition, the band has an extensive concert schedule in the Oslo area. On June 16, 2018, for the official celebrations and tribute to the orchestra, there was the spectacular concert this video is taken from. It took place outdoors under a large pavilion in front of Akershus festning, the famous fortress that has guarded Oslo for hundreds of years, in the presence Prime Minister Erna Solberg and many other prominent guests. Angelina performed all 13 vocal tracks from this CD - most famously this “It’s a man’s world” rendition, but “Cry me a river” and “Mr. Lonely” are outstanding also - as are “I’m a fool to want You” and “Crazy”. It's amazing how well Angelina's vocals and the orchestra's performance go together throughout the concert - a testament to 12-year-old Angelina's ability to work with such a large band (39 musicians). btw this recording is often recommended to reviewers who complain that Angelina is a "gentle ballad singer" (you know what I mean?). NEVER doubt Angelina. She is REALLY the best on the planet right now and at every age she been, there is no one like her at every age, till date. You need to remind yourself that when you see Angelina's performance relaxed at home it's almost everytime a one take recording. She been doing those home videos for fans of hers to have some content of hers and gain some popularity out of. She done the California dreaming the same way, one take and no rehearsals. She probably worked on how her interpretation will be in just couple hours. She doesn't hide her talent or her flaws she lets it all out raw for us. She shows us her true self, and you should appreciate that Papa D. I know you didn't like a certain two words on that song how she did it 😅 but hey that's how she felt that it's best done and you didn't like it. I'm 1000% sure if you asked her personally to do it how you like it she would certainly succeed 😅. Papa D she is the real deal and she is raw and talented not like all the junk out there that hide behind technologically mastering production. Remember that..... You'll soon notice how real she is

I personalty like Cry Me a River - Angelina Jordan and Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps - Oslo - 16.06.2018 "Cry Me a River" is a popular American torch song, written by Arthur Hamilton, first published in 1953 and made famous in 1955 with the version by Julie London. In 2001, the Julie London version of "Cry Me a River" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Julie London was married to Jack Webb of Dragnet fame. Theirs was a rocky relationship. Rb
Great reaction. This is an amazing performance by a 12 year old. I always get a kick out of the conductor’s reaction when Angelina does that big belt towards the end. She had recorded this song as well as all the songs from the concert with this same military band when she was 11 for the album It’s Magic but her voice had developed even more by the time of the concert. Yes it’s unfortunate that there was no professional recording equipment allowed but it is fortunate that we at least have this fan video. The sound was probably more balanced live.
You forget that Angelina is the boss. She wanted the band this loud so she could sing as big as she wanted to sing. It is a perfect balance .. it's fabulous to hear her at the loudest she can go. It is nothing short of brilliant. I adore this. She has another recording of this song from a jazz concert .. very different. Both versions are fabulous and very very special.
I've said the same thing as you, others that have covered this song are straining every part of their body singing this song. When James Brown sang it, they had to wipe the sweat off the stage & he was so spent he could hardly walk off. Angelina is relaxed throughout & doesn't even ruffle a flower on her head. She ends it with a simple curtsy & I hope you liked it. You missed the conductor's reaction when she let out that 3rd "Lost in the wilderness" belt that you had to hear again. Check out his reaction, it wasn't his 1st rodeo with Angelina, since they had many rehearsals of this song & they recorded it on her 1st album "It's Magic" in 2018. He just wasn't ready for her "Live in Concert" voice where her turbo kicks in.
