Still my favorite and a wonderful message about how each of our lives touches others. Only thing I noticed in rewatching today, probably would be ripped for scenes that are now considered not PC
It isn't Christmas without this movie. I've been watching it every year since I was a teenager in the 70's. If only every person could have this experience there would be a lot less sadness and regret in the world.
One of my fav movies of all time. My second favorite Christmas movie after die hard. The first time i saw it was in 08. I was 25. Been watching it every year since. I have the dvd
As a kid, Its a Wonderful Life was just another movie the adults watched during the holidays. I watched it Christmas Eve this year for the first time since my childhood, and as a 35 year old, it has become one of my favorite movies. It's one of the only films I've ever seen that actually brought tears to my eyes. As an adult, I can genuinely relate with George as I watched one dream after another fall to the wayside in favor of helping his family and friends. The low times he experienced and the anger and frustration as he realizes there's nothing he can do. And then realizing that the friendships and relationships he had made were more important than any experience he may have missed out on.
This movie always moved me--from the first time I saw it in my teens and then every decade after that. Had no idea how hard it would hit me & relate to it now in my 60's. It really has helped me come to terms with the decisions my husband & I have made in our lives. Life didn't really turn out like we planned it. But, all in all, it is still A Wonderful Life. Wishing all of you Much Love & Peace of Mind this Christmas & Holiday Season.
@@roxymanasquan9087 I just loved this movie, always have since I was a teen. I'm 65 now. So much of it reminds me of my younger days. My grandparents had a big dining table like the one in the beginning where George was talking to his dad. The town is similar to the one I grew up in. I used to watch it with my dad when I was young. It's the only movie that I cried at the very end when all his friends and family came to help as much as they could. It's been a few years since I've seen it. But when they say something like " no man is poor if he has friends" I just loose it and I had to hide it from my dad when we watched together. Because It's so true, Money and things are not as important as our fellow human beings! Which is sorely lacking in this day and age. I could go on and on and I guess I have lol. But I'm 65 and have no one to talk to most of the time so throwing this out there for anyone to read helps me not to to feel so lonely. But yea what a GREAT MOVIE.
I was a nanny in San Francisco in the 90s. My kid's friend was Jimmy Stewart's grandson; Jimmy's daughter lived a couple miles away. I loved hearing his grandson talk about how, "my grandfather [Jimmy] wanted to enlist during WW11 but was turned away for being too skinny." Jimmy had to gain more weight before he was accepted. To this kid his grandfather was just his grandfather, not a world-renowned actor. Thanks for the video(s): good stuff! 😃😃😃
star trek she met to say World War 2 as James Stewart served from 1940 to 1959 starting out in Army and rose up in the ranks during his career. He flew in combat missions later his career in the Air Force Reserve after World War 2 was over and retired as a Brigadier General in 1959.
150% all time classic. I was just talking to my 28 year old co-worker last night about this movie. I said promise me you'll watch it. Thank you for this tribute. Keep up the good work.
This is a timeless classic! I own it in its original Black and White, and the Colorized version. My family loves this film! So much so that every Christmas our son who is now in his 30's rings every bell in the house that he can get his hands on, and goes around saying, "Atta boy Clarence."
I first saw this movie on VHS one Christmas in the late 1990s during my Christmas vacation home from college. Immediately this movie became a must-see, every-Christmas piece of classic cinema. I don't care how it came to be; this movie DESERVES to be considered the classic that it is!
Love this movie! My mom always watched old films from the 30s and 40s. Had it not been for this one, I would have never given other classics like “A Philadelphia Story” or another favorite “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir” a chance. Have a Happy and Good Year! Thank you for the entertainment.
Its a Wonderful Life IS a timeless classic and a wonderful story. Every time I watch the end scene when his brother Harry comes in and George says his name 3 times I tear up. He’s so happy to see his brother; it’s another powerful scene that people never mention. Frank Capra was an amazing story teller!!!
This movie became my favorite movie of all time when I first watched it in my teen years. Being a few decades older, I have seen countless movies that I consider great cinematic masterpieces. None can surpass or replace "It's a Wonderful Life" as my favorite movie. It is, in my opinion, THE greatest movie ever made. When I had children, it became our Christmas tradition to watch this movie every year.
Now I'm really not all that crazy about old B & W movies, usually just pass 'em by as "boring"..... WITH the absolutely FANTASTIC EXCEPTION of "It's a Wonderful Life"!! Make me cry every time!!
I have watched this movie countless times, and each viewing brings out more detail. There are so many "moments" in this film that are perfect in timing, direction ,nuance, etc.,etc. It is so well crafted!!
"It's A Wonderful Life" is a gem. It centers on George Bailey and shows his strength and vulnerability. The movie boasts a fine cast who all seemed intent on putting everything they could into their characters. I think it's a classic with a great message.
I Absolutely adore this movie, I've watched this masterpiece every Christmas eve for the last 30 years and enjoy it as much now as I did back then, it still brings a tear to my eye, it's the only film that gives me that magical Christmas feeling
In the history of movie making, no other film has ever captured the generosity of the human spirit like It's a Wonderful Life. The gratitude of each person who dumps their donation on the table that Mary has cleared, in order to save George Bailey in his hour of need, who had sacrificed the hopes and dreams of a lifetime for the good of the people of Bedford Falls, and George coming to realize that it had all been worth it in the end - an unbeatable message that truly manifests the divinity in us all, could we but know! Each year as I watch the emotional rush of its magical ending, I never fail to feel the hope that there must a George and Mary Bailey in us all, without which it just wouldn't be Christmas. Let us drink a cup of kindness and forgivess! Thank you Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. Say hello to Clarence for me.
When this was still a public domain film, like in the late 80's and early 90's or so, I think every L.A. station showed it between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It didn't really seem over played to me. It was just that you had so many opportunities to watch it and then watch it one more time. I loved it!
I have always loved "It's A Wonderful LIfe" and it remains my favorite movie of all time! We watch it every Thanksgiving/Christmas season and to this day I cannot watch it without getting very teared up, I am not sure I can even describe what it means to me and my family. I have been know to say that when God decides it is my time, I want it to be Christmas time and I want to be in my recliner watching it's a wonderful life and sipping a hot cup of tea and brandy! I raised my kids watching this movie every year, always told them why the movies was so important, a piece of America when she was at her best!
This movie IS Christmas. I love James Stewart and Donna Reed together. Look for The Shop Around the Corner, another Stewart film that is also a Christmas classic.
I love this movie, and I didn’t start watching it until I was in high school. Something that I think gets over looked is how great the cinematography is
This is most certainly a "Timeless Classic." I'm a huge fan of the Turner Classic Movie Channel. My mother exposed my sister's and I over the years to GREAT movies. As a result, we are all movie fans and enjoy a good story. Today's movies cannot compare to the movies of yesteryear. Turner Classic Movie Channel has something called Fathom Events. It's where there bring these classics BACK INTO THE MOVIE THEATERS across the country for a few select days. Usually a Sunday and a Wednesday. The movies are digitally remastered and they talk about the movie just before it begins. In December 2014, I was fortunate enough to see this great Christmas Classic in the movies! It was right before Christmas too. The theater was packed and you can hear a pin drop. The audience including myself were in awe. I love anything with Jimmy Stewart and to see him up on the big screen for the first time in my life was a very memorable experience. I also am a huge fan of Jack Lemmon. I will never forget that day. At the end of this month January 2019, they are putting back in the movies for three days only another timeless Classic. It's Sunday 1/27, Tuesday 1/29 and Wednesday 1/30. "THE WIZARD OF OZ " It's the 80th Anniversary. My sister and I are taking her children to see this. Thank you Jimmy Stewart for being the amazing person you are...... Christine
Classic...no matter how many times I watched it there is always something new to pick up on...always as fresh and inspiring and emotional as the first time.
A true classic! I own the movie and can watch it over and over. It warms your heart and excellent actors and actresses. Just the way it was filmed was in itself magnificent! Ty for sharing!
This is a classic movie I watch this movie every Christmas. It’s I watch it whenever I can. It’s just a beautiful beautiful movie like you I have it taped. I have a CD of it. I absolutely love it. It makes me cry. Thank you.
It is a classic. I watched it this year after not watching it for a few years. I still got a little teary eyed when the town came in to help George. He truly was "The richest man in towm"
As a high schooler in the 70s I did a lot of baby-sitting. I discovered this movie before anyone hd ever heard of it! I made sure everyone I knew watched it back then. But I'm surprised it became such a classic in more modern times, since it was ignored for so long.
I love this movie. Jimmy Stewart was fantastic. He was still suffering PTSD from his war experiences as a bomber pilot. It shows up in his performance. Donna Reed WOW! Beautiful lay, outstanding performance. I love how the former farm girl from Iowa just grabs the goat's horn like no big deal. Ward Bond, one of my all time favorite actors as Burt the cop. Flawless. Great movie.
One of the all time greatest Christmas shows ever. Never saw it as a kid. When my battle-hardened brother in law (a lieutenant in the first gulf war) said this movie “made him cry,” I had to watch it. Now I’m hooked! Cry every time!
In times today It will touch your heart One of the most beloved movies of all times. Every time I watch the movie it adds value to my life in so many ways telling me to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.
What's so great is that it's not really a "Christmas" movie. The end just takes place around Christmas time, but it was enough to earn it years of popularity as a true Christmas movie.
It is the law to watch this wonderful film every Christmas such a feel good watch, thank goodness Cary Grant didn't do it only James Stewart could do that part.
