YEA SIR IT SURE IS BECAUSE HE WAS EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS HIS DAD MAN SO CLOSE IN VOICE BUT JR. IS DEEPER 🤔😏 BUT I THINK HE JUST HAD ENOUGH OF ALL THAT BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW GOOD HE WAS IT WAS THE SAME IMAGE OF HIS DAD AND IT'S UNDERSTANDING THAT HE WOULD WANT A NAME FOR HIMSELF 🤔🙂 GOD BLESS BIG MAN 😁😏🙏🙋♂️
I opened for Hank Junior in 1970 in Montgomery, Alabama at Garrett Coliseum for a rodeo. I did adagio ballet with my partner to the Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet. Hank stood at the back of the stage when we finished wearing pink cowboy boots and looked at me like I was strange. I was a 22 year old Vietnam vet who had never danced before. Hank Junior was 20 years old. Doing ballet pre-rodeo and before a Hank Jr. show was an oddity for sure, but I was with the prettiest girl in the coliseum.
Hank Jr. is a national treasure. His story is even more compelling than his dad's.He grew up under bizarre expectations to be like his dad.In reality,Hank Jr. was a truly fine country singer in his own right from the time he opened his mouth. His TV performance from 1964 - age 15 - is outstanding.A MAN's voice.Yet he performed his daddy's songs better than anyone, fought through the endless comparisons and became his own man.In the process he became one of the greatest country singers of all time.
that's right, man. hank was on top of the world doing sr's songs, and chose to reinvent his whole style and start all over, then built an empire in his own right. this cat is a living legend, and we're lucky to have him. by the way, he plays with other people because they BEG him to let them play with him. you bow before the king and show respect, then maybe he'll sit on stage with you...
I like all three of them and there music. But I personally think Hank Jr has got them all beat.. Everyone gives Hank a bad rep because he plays with new talent and ppl like kid rock, kracker, aerosmith, etc.... But what they dont realize is that when he was singing all his fathers songs and switched to his own style. The only people that gave him a chance were people like Marshall Tucker band, Chalie Daniels and the outlaws of the 70s.. So i think its cool that he's giving others a chance aswell
If I had a dime for every beer I drank listening to this song on eight-track, I could have retired a long time ago. We used to call it the National Anthem.
I love to hear these awesome song's sometimes before work brings back good memories of my late father we he use to get me ready for school waiting for the bus back in the early years still listening to these awesome song's in 2024
my parents raised me from the crib by listening to Hank Sr......I carried on the tradition of listening to "real country music' by listening to Hank Jr......I think some of his early music like this song is better than his later works.....
i saw this movie "a time to sing" when it first came out.it was 1968 i think.i saw the movie at Lanier drive in gainesville Ga.it don't seem like it has been 44 years ago.
Each time I watch this video from the movie (1968) I like it even more. It's kind of addictive. Hank was only about 18 years old I believe and he's a pretty good actor. His voice is great - he can sing the love songs so well . We did see the movie which was shown on TV about four years ago - don't recall which channel though. The orchestra here is fabulous and all of the musicians are terrific. Pure great country at its best - Hank is a wonderful song writer. - Paula
He has chnaged so much over the years, but not his BEAUTIFUL voice ! I can hear his Father there with him ! Amazing ! and OMG He had such sexy lips ! :)
Look how far away from the mike he is located. What a set of lungs he has. I am in awe of this man. I was a youngster when he was born. I remember his dad, mom, and when he was born. He is my number one. What a voice. I remember when he would come to Fame Recording in Muscle Shoals, AL. I live in Florence, AL across the river.
The way he sung this song this recording is so great this is one of the best recording to he ever had I believe a change the style of music as he got older I believe he was better when he was younger I love this voice a lot better when he was younger the way he sung his song in this version should have been a masterpiece
I've seen the movie twice in which Hank sung this wonderful ballad. He's a pretty good actor and I liked the story line itself. Thanks once more for posting this treasure. - Paula(PaulinaRena).
You never want to meet your heroes ... Especially the celebrity kind ... Very very rare to walk away with your respect for them still intact ... When you're snatched around by so many people on the daily most begin to resent their own popularity and forget people as you don't want anything from them except a handshake or a kind word
His music and song don't get no better than the way he's doing this one this is the best version I ever heard of him singing this song don't know why change the style of music but I like this style of music that he sung it a lot better here then he did let years later on the style he sings here is a whole lot better and the way he changed as he got older was not as good as this style on this video this was the best version of his style music he was so great back then he just didn't realize it
I love this version of his song the way he's singing it now he's just not singing as good later on in his years the version he is singing here is the best one.
Thomas Haverstock Hank Jr. wrote 100x more songs by himself than Sr. wrote. Jr. has more fans, more hits, more awards, has sold more records and sold out more venues than Sr. could ever dream of. That still leaves a plenty more that I haven't even talked about yet. You need to run along to where ever it is that you run along to. Your chicken scratch ain't working here.
Had this album on cassette if that makes any sense, wore the label off of it putting in an internet out of the player,. And anybody that don't like Hank Williams can kiss my ass!
ok, i'll school you nimrods now. 1. since hank sr INVENTED country music, you only get to compare hank sr to himself--BUT-- 2.hank jr was a headlining act when he was 8!! he had greatest hits at 11! he plays guitar, lead, piano, banjo, violin, and plays then WELL. they BOTH write their own music, but jr can also play every instrument on the song. comparing the two is like saying "what's worse, dying by great white or hammerhead?" they'd both be pretty unreal, way way out of the norm...
Great video...I have the Album and it's really good. Does anyone remember the name of the group that was in this movie. They were entered into the talent contest with Hank. I think they're name was "The XL'S" ?...but I really would like to find the song they sang in the movie.
Song here goes out to The kicks in the world all the pretty girls don't get Facebook and on phone y'all are very pretty girl they'll take care of yourself
