Of course Labour is going to scrap the 2 children benefit. Immigrants have 4 plus children. The tax payer already is paying for the wife to be at home looking after the prole and all, now lets give them a bit more money.

Scrap stay at home benefits for people that can work, and give in work benefits to encourage work.

The best way out of poverty is not more benefits, ita work. Not the narrative the labour party espouse, they want you beholden to their ideology. State childcare, preschool toothbrushes, after school clubs. If you can't afford children why should the taxpayer fund your lifestyle choices.

Going back to the actual voting, what is the point of voting if you can vote only one way, to me it's a pointless exercise. The cap should stay at 2 children, I have also seen that Muslim men can now get benefits for second 'wives'.. Any foreign person convicted of a crime should be deported, preferably before going to prison.

Oh I went to the airport the other day to go pick up my kids from France for their holidays with me. Though it was a Mass exodus seeing so many former foreign nationals going back home to visit family with hordes of kids. I lived in Portugal for 18 years and there, if you become unemployed, you get 6 MONTHS of unemployment benefits and then it STOPS! Funny how everyone finds a way into another job!

I work hard can't afford one kid but some people have more kids so they can claim the benefits and housing they say they are single parents to do so post goes else where , its a well used loop hole

We need to encourage working families to have more children.

The problem is when you have a benefit system that gives you more money than it would if you are in employment. What would you do? Benefits pay more than if you are working especially if you are unskilled. When you are not working you get universal credit, you get your rent paid plus any other benefits. If you are working then you have to find the money yourself to pay the rent plus any other outgoings. So why would people work? When they are better off with the benefits that the government pays. We need to be offering training programs so people can get skills to get better jobs to be able to live and pay their way. We need to still pay the benefits while they are on a training programs. We need to make it attractive to people.

Ive always said that those who are fit for work should be made to do voluntary work for thier benefits they'll soon find a job.

Are are loads of unfilled positions, but the pay is far too low for anyone to earn a sufficient amount to keep them off any supplementary benefits or off them entirely. People on £30k p/a are struggling with housing, food and energy costs!

I think the issue is more complex. We are aging country and the future of the country relies on the numbers of the children needed to maintain the economy within 30 or 40 years. It is not just a simple issue money. We require accurate statistics.

Life isn’t as straight forward as if you can’t afford them don’t have them I’m a single parent I’m male I have four children and I’m class one hgv I haven’t been able to work for two years and I’m dependent on benefits at the moment but feel like I made all the right decisions only only to fail as a result of me becoming a single parent it’s not fare to label everyone with the same broad view!

Most of those are divorced middleaged women who have lost family stability and are effectively unemployable. There are not unlimited unskilled labour jobs, its true that we see the same addicts hanging around job centres but its a minority when compared to the millions i described who also have no pension btw

making long term sick work. 1. sort out their medical issues first- so fix the NHS waiting list 2. give them the support they need in the workplace - equipment , different methods of working etc 3 scrap the DEI quotas, these long term sick are going to be facing discrimination for race, gender, age, disability( the last two have been around before the DEI as well). 4. kick the DWP up the backside for not being able to support these people with work that has irregular hours and low pay, which in turn messes up whichever benefits they currently get and makes it harder for them to do some work that doesn't mean constant reassessment of current benefits that takes forever... the govt and the DWP couldn't care less if you were not working, so long as you were not claiming... don't put obstacles in the their way... don't use the behaviour of some people to make sweeping generalisation about all of them, leave that to the idiot tabloids. suspension of the MPs. they had it coming. starmer knows he has to "lay down the law" with his party as leader otherwise infighting coupled with a low voting record in the GE for them will undermine their position and create a no confidence vote. starmer also knows that the two child cap scrapping will benefit not everyone but particular demographics that the public are resentful of thanks to starmer and tories incompetence. scrap child benefits for children who are not residing in the Uk( in the EU). no one else does this, so why do we do it? starmer wont be able to tell the public youve got to pay more taxes to give this group more child benefits, more housing( ahead of everyone else) more education, more healthcare without a backlash from the public and possibly rioting. Nevermind that his MPs will face backlash( and possibly a recall by local labour party) from their own constituents when forced to take in "unwanted" guests for whom houses will be built, but the locals will be sent to the back of the queue. you could be looking at race riots starmer might be stupid in many ways, but he still has enough smarts to know the public is almost a tinderbox waiting for a reason to realise that they that have nothing to lose.

@ Julia Hartely-Brewer: You really don't know what is going on with people who are off work with illness and unemployed. Just let me know if you want a guided trip to a Jobcentre. I will be happy to give you a tour of the "cancer". If the NHS would treat people maybe people who are ill could get better and return to work. Illness is not, in most cases, a personal choice.
