Rudy your SECRET BUNKER is in your Mom's Basement. Made up of pillows and blankets. Where you and your roommate Timmy the Third with a Monocle and Top Hat fart in each others faces and laugh about it while eating Floppy Tacos 🌮 behind a leaky fish tank... And the "Print Run" is how much Toilet Paper you have left while you shake your piggy back with five quarters inside.

What i find interesting is that *you didn't touch upon analyzing the sets based upon the cards in the set* ... most specifically what these cards do over say 6 months ... where the most important thing obviously are: 1. Do cards of the set show up in Modern, Legacy or Vintage? ... aka. proven fairly stable 'competitive' eternal formats ... because those will determine single prices and thus booster value 2. Do cards of these sets show up on EDH builds for Commander decks? ... aka. are legendary cards added to existing decks, used as commanders, or are certain cards in the set 'commander staples' ... because these will determine singles prices and thus booster value (be it that these prices are generally much lower than under 1. they do provide a 'stable floor' because EDH is such a widely popular format (aka. prices may not be in the 10s of dollars, but around the 2~5$ mark and more cards in the set may have this price due to this format). 3. How well received is the limited format, and this may only be determined by being in shops (or having one), are people still showing up for drafts 1 month in, 2 monts in, 3 monts in; are people sad to see the new set come because this 'old' set is so much fun to draft... because this will determine the 'box' pricing, and the overall value and demand for booster of the set. This because, while there are certainly people buying boxes to invest, or to crack and sell singles, or to crack and add to their collection. I would venture and guess there is a fairly reasonable % (guestimating 30% or so ~ though totally pulled out of my you know what) that buy booster boxes specifically for draft, be it just drafting the set, or doing the 'mystery draft' (or w/e those mixed booster drafts are called). Just middle aged friends groups that like magic, get together each month to draft some set, each shell in $40 or so buy a set and draft it for the weekend. 4. Standard? what do you mean standard? it rotates... it's of no interest to investing ! ... it does explain the 'uptick' though, this is when cards of the set find their way into standard decks, which become popular due to tournament wins, and then those cards are in demand and prices go up. Prices of cards that are in category 1 AND standard, well supply and demand, you get the gist... These 4 things i think belong in this story/lesson, and ultimately determine a lot of the 'aging' of sets in the long run... and might thus also determine how big of a position one might like to take.

You should make a video how WOTC steals the value of OOP singles from collectors by reprinting these cards in Collector/Premium sets like Eternal Masters (i.e. original Legends Karakas was worth $125 but is now worth $30 after reprint). Examples like this is why I always tell my friends MTG is a horrible long term investment.

i dont get it. Who DOES NOT understand how this works?! A set comes out. Draft have fun play. Its in print for a year. Aroung 8-9 months in, if the set was good, buy a shit ton from Rudy or somewhere else you can get them for no less than $85. Dont be a Timmy, repeat and thats that!

Rudy, I'm sorry but I don't understand one thing, when Wizzards releases spoilers for cards and new collections, they are not just thinking in people who are taking MTG as a game? Because when I think about that, the market of value wich cards have is not related to them, they just sell close products, and sometimes releases special products that people demands. I saw four archlight phoenix sell for 11$ on eBay yesterday. I remember buying them for $25each.

It's like buying and selling gold and silver. When gold is near its low point, you use it to buy as much silver as you can, and then when silver is near its high point you use it to buy as much gold as possible. Remember this: The silver follows the gold. When gold is at its low point, the silver is still going down in price. But when the gold begins to go back into its upswing the silver will be at its near absolute lowest price. Same concept but reversed when the gold is near at its absolute peak. A lesson to learn in all of this: During this 2020 Covid-19 Recession, watch the gold and silver market. Reason is because it is what will tell us when this recession will be near its end and everything will soon begin to look up in the near future. Gold and silver determine the value of anything else that has a market. It's what people in the money business stock call "True Money". If gold is still on the downturn, then we are still going into the recession. If it has a long smooth curve looking as if it is getting ready to go into an upswing, then we could be coming out of the recession, but don't get your hopes up. Because when people start buying and selling again, there will most likely be a small downswing for a little while, and then it will begin to go back into a true upswing until it peaks. And lesson two: Rudy just taught everyone who would otherwise not know anything about any of this, has learned stocks, bonds, market, and etc of how the value of things swings up and down from month to month/year to year. Lesson three: Sell singles when they are at the peak in price, buy booster boxes when they are at low points. Great lesson Rudy. For me, I would buy at print run two or just a little before it. That way I have the best chances of turning a profit and least amount of worry when getting hosed.

Could you do a video on how this kind of curve differs for specialty and suplimental products? And maybe how Masters sets differ from stuff like Battlebond or Conspiracy as well?

I don't invest or play Magic. I never will be into it at all, just not my thing. I love watching the box openings for the artwork, value gamble. I sell vintage video games on ebay, so I enjoy watching the investment strategy videos, of course the humor. Great channel, I've watched most of the videos even though not into Magic, that says a lot.

The advice and knowledge this guy gives us can carry over to other collectable hobbies, not just Magic. My video game collection grew massively when I applied his credit card warrior and market float videos information to my decision making. This has helped me determine when to buy in and not go to Hose Town and get slapped in the face. If anyone wants solid information about how to go about the financials in collectables this is the guy to listen to. Rudy, I salute you with my floppy taco.

Rudy. Given the current situation in the world and with basically nothing moving shipping wise. Do you think WOTC will do 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th runs of All the current sets, I presume War of the Spark has been reprinted, but has Throne been re-printed and more to the point if this goes on for another montn and I can see this doing this, Will WOTC just decide to move on to new products leaving a hole in the reprinted sets, ie Throne may have been Reprinted, but Theros certainly hasn't yet, do you think they will have to abort them, to get the market back in to Magic, ie get a new product out to get the interest back. ie there no doubt, this current situation and lock down has to be affecting both interest and sales. be interested in your thought.

The people that hate you are the ones trying to do the same thing as you. People like me who mainly collect because of a love of the game appreciate the glimpse into the impossible world of sealed product collecting. WOTC is pricing the average fan/player out of the game, not you.

Actually really enjoyed learning about it and it's very complex but you put it into perspective,I think I always knew that the pre 60+ day mark was just hype and nothing more but it's really easier said then done to not get caught up in it cause you secretly always want to be the first one in line and that's just me being honest but I liked how you said that you slowly chipmunk some product and disperse the rest throughout the life cycle,I always wondered if it was sort of a crap shoot if you had something of value or not but it seems like mostly everyone is in the same boat and watching what the market does long term.i never am so diluted as to think I will be able to become filthy rich by trying to beat the system or anything like that and I just really appreciate this sort of class on finance cause ya your talking about magic but you can really pertain it to many things or most collectables at least,thanks rudy

I kinda already knew about some of this process which is why I try to wait for the allocation period to buy certain cards unless I see something that I have some form of intuition making me believe that certain cards will spike before that time period. But I definitely enjoy these videos!
