The Gideon Optics Omega is a budget friendly version of the SRO. While it's not absolutely as robust as the SRO - it is robust enough to withstand recoil on a slide - with a big window and certainly qualified for your next pistol competition of session plinking with the boys.

Gideon optics is very honest about where their optics come from and that they aren't as sturdy as Trijicons most combat ready optics. They are meant as affordable range optics.

To be fair, its competition (the SRO) is actually kind of fragile. You alluded to that in your comment but there are new shooters out there.

As per the usual, I am cursed and mine wouldn't hold zero past a couple hundred rounds and the dot would disappear in the bottom of the glass. I'm glad to see not all of them are that way. Great review!

One thing of note, it's not listed on the manual but while it has shake awake technology, however after 12hours of inactivity the optic will shut off and you'd have to manually turn it on. Very annoying, but Gideon states it's for competition so to save as much power as possible they added this feature.

Found one on battlehawk for $150 which I thought was a great price. I found out when I got it that is is NOT shake awake. If it sits for more than 12 hours (sometimes less from my experience) then it goes 'asleep' and you have to hit the brightness button to wake it up again.

C&H Precision Comp optic is $250 cheaper than the SRO and duty rated. This one you can roll around with your buddies on the range with little worries of breakage. The C&H optic is currently being T&E'd by our Dept for duty issue and usage.

@@ProdBugs As of now they have been put thru the ringer on both my comp gun and duty gun, dropped on the street and in the water, banged getting in and out of my truck, and knocked off the range table. Happy to say that I only had to wipe them off and blow out the AZ desert. Other than a couple scuff marks, no loss of zero or any other damage. They both have over 2000 rounds on them and the one is the dept. community range gun and it's been beat... Hope this helps...

bought one based on this review, worked well but was extremely dim, especially compared to my other dots. contacted customer service, they said they had some emitters that were a bit dim and wanted it returned to them. they issued a shipping label ( a convenience i think) and i sent it off. they contacted me for an address and emailed me a tracking number but still after a more than a week still haven't actually shipped it just figured id share my experience so far

I own several Gideon optics. They have all worked flawlessly. Honestly, for as fragile as the Trig SRO is, it's way over priced.

I bought it for $128 from Optics Planet. Still waiting. I’ve looked at almost every comparable large window and mid size window offering and this Gideon Omega is 7075 aluminum, tactile click adjustments, top load battery, green dot offered, multi reticle option, etc. The only feature it’s going to get knocked for is that the auto shake awake feature does not activate after it sits for 12 hours. With that said for me it will be on a concealed carry gun so I’d turn it on in the morning and it will stay active throughout the day into the night and beyond anyway. If not for this optic the Swampfox Justice 2, CH Precision Comp, Holosun 507comp, Cyelee Wolf X Pro, Tacticon V4, or Viridian RFX35 are all contenders.

been shooting one for a while, bought a second one i havent shot yet, but thus far my only complaint is the shake awake feature. shake awake works okay, but once it times out 8 hours or whatever it is, its off and you must hit a button to turn it back on. imo for $180 street price on these, they are a good buy.

Got Green On STR9c Mounted did a first vid i didn't mount tight enough but will be filming 2nd vid with it actually sighted next week and I love the big window! Also, Advocate on 12 gage 140ish FULL power loads it's perfect reticle on a shottie w triangle and bigger buckshot chest size circle of Upper Thoracic cavity different buckshot size 7 and 15 yards patterned! Etched so even if you didn't change batteries after couple years with shake awake and off it still works unlike short range RDS stuff

Hi David. Lovin' your videos. Likin' your Dad Jokes! Okay okay I love them. Roll eyes. Comparison Review Request: Bul Armory Blaze vs Bul Armory Tac Pro 5"....... Just bought the Gideon Optics Omega. 3 MOA is small as you mentioned in video. So I went with the circle/dot reticle. I figured for $200 what the heck, why not try it? I also decided to try a green dot for a change. Again... why not! PS: They are $131 on Gun Broker.

Okay my Gideon Omega came in, and I have to be honest. Because of my Astigmatism, the green dot is a mess. The dot is blowing out at the 4 & 5 oclock positions. Looks more like Saturn with 2 sets of rings. On my SRO, the dot perimeter is sharp and well defined. Bummer. I guess my eyes and my astigmatism are a hard test for red/green dots....... Best Retical Ever: With my eyes and my astigmatism, the best reticle ever was the Leupold Deltapoint Pro with the triangle reticle. No contest. All 3 sides of the triangle are sharp, clear, and very well defined. Unfortunately, Leupold discontinued the triangle reticle. Major Bummer!

Time to be honest again: The Gideon Omega with a RED DOT and Circle is AWESOME! Wow, what a difference from the green dot. So my Gideon from Optics Planet finally arrived (Kudos to Optics Planet: Since my green dot arrived first, I contacted optics planet and changed my order to a red dot & circle. They were happy to make the change). Anyway, the red dot and circle are both clear, well defined, and not blown out. Even with my astigmatism it is an absolutely optimal reticle. Can't wait to use it for timed drills. I'm hoping the circle will allow for faster target acquisition. Thanks again for your review of this product David. Without your review, I would have never know about this product!

I have a Bul Armory SAS II Heavy Metal. That gun, and my Atlas Athena, are my absolute favorites. I still do not have enough range time to know if I like the Atlas more or the Bul more. That is how good the Bul Armory is!

New to shooting. Purchased the Omega for my Canik Rival SFX Darkside because of the price not really knowing what I was doing since being new. Works great at the range indoor and out. Did my first informal Steel Challenge shoot and walked up to the first stage and couldn't find the dot.......thought the battery was dead.....but it washed out in the sun on its highest setting. Needless to say didn't go well for me. Question is which $300-400 optic would you buy for mainly Steel Challenge shooting........Holosun 507 Comp or C-More RTS2 V5 (8 or 10 dot size?)?? Thanks in advance anyone for your opinions.

I dropped my Sro 1x and lens shattered. It cost me 100$ to have them replace the lens. I ordered one of these for 120$ I’m not sure sro is worth the extra money. But my Gideon didn’t get here yet

the Bull is a massive window - and the bezel is really thick - it's a lot of real estate on the gun. It's fantastic if that's what. you want but some people don't want that.

as a dad, my first question.. where is this optic made? the website is mum about their origin.. founder Jordan Vinroe.. to my limited experience, when they don't brag about US manufacture or even Taiwan.. it's always the other one.. the name comes from the Bible.. irony? hope I'm wrong but..

There are several interviews with the owner on Forgotten Weapons’ channel. He’s very up front that these are Chinese optics made to a price point and are not made to the durability standards of Trijicon or Aimpoint, but are suitable for competition or concealed carry.

the math works out to $200 and $400 - a cheap price on an SRO is about $400. They haven't been that low in a while but that's what I got mine for a while ago.
