I saw something on instagram where you can hang curtains on those by using a credit card to release the clips from the blind and then doing a diy clip for curtains instead.

I think you're definitely right about getting a slightly longer table, and a darker colored rug would help tie your light fixture and cabinets together! :) I also think getting 2 more chairs would be cute and more convenient for when guests come over. Super excited to see what you do with the space and the rest of the house Lindsey!!

Lindsey, it’s so crazy seeing you move in with Jared! I met you at okeechobee a few years ago with my then boyfriend -it was our anniversary (it also happened to be a toxic relationship for me). You could put some framed artwork or plants on that desk area and then use the drawers to store anything you need for going outside, like winter garments or dog items. Maybe put some bins for shoe storage underneath??

I would definitely recommend making the desk bit more of an entry way area, like some other mentioned, shoe storage or hats, scarves and stuff can go in the gap. That cool mirror you got could look nice with some other artwork in that area

I haven’t read all the comments so if this has been suggested, sorry! But the blinds can easily be unclipped from the track. Then if you buy curtain hooks and curtains you can attach curtains to the sliding track. We did that in our place and I’m SO glad we did. There’s videos on RU-vid on how to do it… it’s so much easier than adding another curtain rod.

Switch out the table, big dark rug, keep the chairs ! Probably will need two more! For the “desk” area I would put two big baskets underneath where the chair would go. Use for squirtle’s leashes…maybe a shoe/slipper basket. Even put throw blankets in there! Also maybe a nice mail holder, key tray like you mentioned. Plants…maybe a mirror there to add light/a place to check your hair before heading out! Lol but keep it minimal!!

I feel like realistically the desk area would be a good entry area for hats, shoes, purse, keys.. kind of a catch all. BUT I think it would be really cool to make that the bar area. A wine fridge under the desk/counter, the drawers for your glasses, bottle opener, coasters, really anything you have at a home bar. Tall glasses and bottles on the counter or even a shelf where you can hang stemmed wine glasses from! Really can't wait to see what you guys do with your new space!!

An idea for the “random area” that looks like a desk: plants. Not sure how much sun hits there? Maybe a little book shelf/display area mixed with a place for “catch all” things like mail and keys. Shoe storage underneath and Squirtle accessories. Great vlog 💗

You should have a cute guest sign in area at that random spot. So guests can leave notes when they visit 😄 maybe even fill up the wall with pictures of your friends that come to visit!

I would do the plants on the entryway table like you said but also put a little bench under the empty area so that if you ever need to use it as a desk you have a seat but it won't be in the way

I would still put a chair at the awkward desk area just for the look and possible convenience of having a desk option! But definitely plants and storage is a good idea, something to take up space on the wall too. Love the new place!

For the entryway desk an ottoman bench that can hide under where the chair would be would look good. I have one in my house where we keep hats, gloves, scarves, etc and if we want to sit there it is still a bench but it is mostly used for storage! Hope this helps:)

For the vent when you walk in I would try to find maybe some framed rattan pieces to make it look intentional but still let air flow through, something with a cool texture or design but holes for the vent to let air escape

If your landlord is okay with it replace that vent by the desk thing with something more stylish. Search something like ornate vintage style gold register cover, there are so many beautiful styles. Then other gold frames on the wall would compliment well. 😊

for that desk area right when you go into the house, you should do like 2 big whicker baskets underneath so it looks more like an entry way table vs a work desk! I feel like that could be really cute!!

I would put some large basket/bins under the desk and turn it into an entry/mud room! You can throw your shoes or scarves/gloves whatnot into the bins, leave some plants on the desk, add a key organizer, mail organizer, etc and have it as an entry way. Easy for dropping stuff off when you walk in, and makes much more sense than an office. Hopes this helps, love the new place and following your journey! I’ve been watching for 10 years 💕

Def get a longer kitchen table so you can have room for guests to sit/eat. Also put a cute bench stool that fits under the desk so you can slide it in and out.

Bigger rug and keep the shape of the rug the same shape as the table. I love a circle table with a circle rug, very chic. Darker tones would look good too with the light wood

I would keep the space up the stairs simple and maybe put a short shoe rack underneath? Maybe just a nice plant and a bowl for keys?

When the washer is stuck its because it’s unbalanced. This usually happens with items that aren’t that heavy like pillows and duvets. If you can don’t do rinse and spin. Just do the spin cycle. This can also happen if you don’t put enough items in your washer. Ive had this problems so many times, its the worst.

For the vertical blinds, you can take out each blind & put curtains in each clip. I saw a TikTok if you wanna see the process. It looked super cute & can run on the track. When you move, you just switch them back.

I love watching the decorating of new apartments, it's so exciting to make a new place your own. The simplest solution for that random vent in the built-in desk area would be to cover it with a macrame wall hanging. Also, that built-in desk would be a great place for your turntable and albums, just use a bluetooth speaker in the living area.

For the entry wave. I would find a picture frame slightly larger than the heating/ac register & I would put either a sheet of rattan and staple it on the back of the frame or some breathable fabric like dense lace or burlap maybe? If you are crafty you could create a wood slate cover for the register. I wish, I could put a pic. You can Google DIY wall register covers. As for the desk, if you ever came across a wine fridge you could keep bottled water there. A large basket or shelf with doors for shoe/front entry storage. And of course a basket or tray on top for mail/misc. This place looks gorgeous & I can't wait to see what y'all will do with it. Here's to fresh beginnings.

The desk area iside the front door...in the nook underneath, you should get one or two pretty, large baskets that you can store extra rolled up blankets, throw pillows, etc. in! Will look cozy and welcoming

For the entry way I’d try to make it kind of like a presentable mud room. Maybe a shoe rack under the desk in that open space, key rack, some plants and photos a candle or two and definitely a small rug for optimal ✨cozy vibes✨ so excited to see what you do with the space!

A rectangle table with 4 chairs and a dark rug (with black) would look better with the big light fixture! For the entry way area, I think you could fill the gap underneath with some tall wicker boho baskets for random storage like blankets/scarves/shoes -- or you could get a cute little tufted bench to tuck under so that the space could function as a desk space if needed while maintaining the entryway look. On top I would keep it simple but chic: a table lamp, some coffee table books, a key dish, and some feature plants.

I am loving your new place so much. It looks incredible already. I have to say that I agree about the light fixture above the table. The rug and table are too baby sized for that big light (somehow the scale is off now). I think you'd probably love a longer rectangular table anyhow as it'd give you much more space in case you have guests over. I could easily envision a rectangular table with a bench and then your two chairs on one side. Also, that same thing happened to me when I first got my brand new front loading washer. I discovered that there's a sweet spot in terms of loading it where you have to have enough in it to help keep it squeezing the water out. Once I determined that, I always make a point of washing the blanket in question with another one and I haven't had that issue since. It's the one annoyance of having a front loader. Edit: also, I can't get over how sweet Mr. Squirtle was cozying up to Jared. He seems so much happier than on the first day so it's great to see that he's already settling in. I'm very excited for your sweet little family to get established and comfortable in your new home.

My grandparents spent like 5k to move from Boise to Oregon about 8 hours away. I have to wonder if they were just completely taken advantage of but I wasn't a part of that process unfortunately. 😵

You could still use it as a desk and just put one of those chairs that can go in that space; idk what they’re called but the ones they used at nail salons 😅… you could also even put a curtain up and make it Squirtle’s space! 😂 You could still do the curtain idea and then put those shoe rods for your go to shoes. Hmmm or just deck it out with plants and art work ♥️ I thought like Home Depot or Lowe’s had something to help block vents🤔
