Thanks Michael! My nerves are not as bad lol its some getting use to. I think everyone teaching style evolves along the way!Funny that if I panic especially if you dont have time to prep hence short notice. Thats what to help out “what do you see?” Circle or even draw line! I finally have a regular after three weeks! Thank god! Also, I was blinded sided with student feedback. I signed up to workshops offered from VIPKID very useful and soothing. I highly recommend them!
Thank you for these encouraging words. You really hit the mark with this video. I re-watched it as a pep talk before my first class. I was less nervous but I think I was still a train wreck. I don't think VIPKID gives us the support/resources to "get the jitters" out with proper training/information beforehand. There's a lot of information out there...and a lot of resources from VIPKID... just not the right ones for me. Your words about empathy and everyone wanting everyone to succeed meant a lot more to me than anything I've seen from the workshops or other official training materials. Thank you!
I have to teach english online because the coronavirus outbreak. It's my first work ever.😂 I don't even know treat with children. It's a challenge 😱. But I'm really happy I've found your channel, the vipkid programm in general. You all are great virtual teachers. 🤩
Your advice is always on point! I think seasoned VIPKID teachers should watch this too. I agree, we need to remember that the children and parents can be just as nervous. I try to get my students to laugh as soon as I open my camera. It relaxes them immediately. Slapstick humor is universal. hee hee
elliejax I couldn’t agree more! Laughter truly is a universal language. If you can get the kids laughing (as well as learning) you’ll never be short on bookings :)

I still haven't taught my first class, but I have been "FREAKING OUT, MAN!" (Love that movie... "the snozberries taste like snozberries" LOL) My nerves are through the roof as I anticipate my first class, and my anxiety gets worse with each passing day. How long did it take for you to start getting regular bookings? I opened my slots on January 6th so it's been 10 days so far with 1 booking.
Hey Tina, thanks for watching my video. What you’re experiencing, having one class in your first 10 days, is not uncommon. Especially because it’s Chinese new year and a lot of the students are on a break. I was fortunate that I started getting regular bookings right away but that was three years ago when the company was much smaller. It’s very hard to predict when your bookings will pick up but the common thing for all teachers is to have a lot of patience in the beginning while you’re building up a regular base of students.
