NBA gave the most police oversight response ever. "we investigated ourselves and come to find out we're right majority of the time." WTF does that even mean?

What really annoys me is that coaches and players can't say anything about referees/officiating without gettin fined. It's so dumb.

We went through all of this in the 80s already - gambling ruins sports, and refs are the primary tool of rigging. Gamblers ruin everything they touch.

There are about 70 moving screens, 80 travelling violations, and 150 palming violations each game that aren't called.

I always said before ... All refs should be mic'd up and recorded all game and that those recording should be available for everyone. Being able to hear what the refs rationale is and hear when they huddle up and have conversations about questionable calls would help us understand where the disconnect is between what we see and what refs clearly can't see.. also provide a podium for media to question the refs also .. If this is done I don't believe refs would be so dismissive to take the extra time to get pivotal calls right. If I was recorded and had to face questions every game I would do my damn best to get every call right.

It's not the % of calls that are good or bad, it's how egregious the bad calls are.

What I want to know is why the players union have not threatened a strike when their literal performances are being fced with by these refs. Players and coaches have the details of their contracts, the sum of their money and the market desirability solely dependent on how they perform, win/loss, and their impact on the floor, and these scums are, have been, literally fcing that up for years and years. If the owners and the NBA won't fix the issue, USE THE POWER YALL HAVE AND GO STRIKE. Force their hands.

The lack of consistency and no calls for traveling and carrying the ball is a joke. I watched Jason Tatum carry the ball fives times in a single possession yesterday.

Can’t stand watching games where it’s just about who’s better at intentionally drawing fouls. They need to adjust the offensive foul rules too. Too many times the ball handler just rams into the defender and it’s called a defensive foul which has always been ridiculous to me

Refs should be held accountable for every mistakes they made..just like how players and coaches were given techs, refs should also be at least fined and or suspended everytime they made grave officiating mistakes

The blown calls and terrible officiating are the number one reason why I stopped watching the NBA. In fact, the horrible officiating in the NFL has caused me to consider no longer watching football starting this off-season. I am absolutely done with all sports.

There are 4 things that will fix the issue. 1. Refs need to call the game the same for both teams, if they clearly call the games one sided, they should be warned, and continued issues will be fines, and eventually terminations. 2. Add a 4th ref per game that views the game using the multiple TV angles to get the calls right. They can blow whistles and communicate with the refs on the floor to make sure the calls are right live. 3. Get rid of bad refs. There are A LOT of bad officials that are protected by their union. Scott Foster should have been let go YEARS ago after he was part of the Tim Donaghy scandal. 4. Lastly, get rid of the 2 Minute report as it does NOTHING to support the game. Post full evaluations of the games. If a officiating unit doesn't get 90% of the calls correct, they get fined for poor performance. Elevate good officials from the G League and NCAA to replace bad ones. Fans are going to be biased, its part of the game. But get the calls right and get their ego out of the games. Refs should be invisible to the game itself but much to often lately, they determine the games. It needs to stop.

Why do players and coaches get fined when they do something against the rules but when a player speaks out against the refereeing, the player gets fined but the refs are not getting fined? The league has started fining players for sitting out when completely healthy because it benefits the fans but having better referees also benefits the fans and teams and the league is doing nothing about this problem. Also so many games where there is a bad call or a missed call and the referees say after the game that the call was wrong and the referees still get away with it!

fans are not mad because SOME missed calls, fans are mad because it's always the most important calls that are missed, that decide games in favor of a certain team. fans are also mad because the rules of the game are becoming worse by the season, passionate play should be encouraged not punished, because it leads to better show for the fans, I don't care if the players get more unruly because of that, that is the point of the sports and entertainment.... but we all know why they do it, and they won't stop.

Genuinely, the officiating has been so bad for so long, and it just keeps getting worse and worse. Ever since the league reintroduced betting, it really ramped up how terrible it's been for ALL teams. There's no such thing as consistency, let alone unbiased officiating. None. It just doesn't exist. In fact, as a Blazers fan, I've always found it rather amusing how many people demand Scott Foster only hates/targets their team or their guy, when in reality, he's just a dick all around. It seems like he's always fancied himself like a Angel Hernandez of the NBA. A hot shot, well known name who therefore has some "celebrity". Dude does not give a fuck about doing his job with consistency, let alone correctly, and doesn't give a damn about what you or anyone else thinks of him. He already was my pick for the worst/most hated ref in the NBA long before he became it for everyone else. I'm talking Dick Bevetta/Danny Crawford era. Scott is terrible, has a big ego and he knows it. I'm the kind of fan most teams hate, because I'm always calling out when calls are right, wrong, missed or deserved, no matter who it is playing. Can be my favorite players, or my team the Blazers, and I'll always call out when we deserved a call or not, and will tell a player to shut up if they did in fact deserve that call. Doesn't matter if it's my team or my favorite player or not. I genuinely just want consistency, and for all refs to clearly and concisely follow the rules. Though for the latter bit to happen, the NBA has got to stop making their rules all corporate, aka, vague/unclear/ambiguous.

I think the NBA is only asking the refs to be stricter. They want a more family friendly game because it's better for marketing, more brands want their product associated with PG shows. But this is destroying the fun of watching the game

i think the solution is to separate the nba referees from the league and have them operate as a separate entity like the UFC has. not a perfect solution but its very much an improvement The L2M report is also garbage as it mostly serves for referees to cover themselves.

this effect is rolling down into local leagues and causes systemic issues. referees see themselves as the star of the show at all levels. its a real problem. from fiba sanctioned games to nba

i have two ideas: 1. each team gets a list of 4 officials that they can veto from there games if a ref is vetoed by enough teams no longer an official. 2. after each game each coach gets 10 minutes with the officials to go over the game and discuss why they disagree or agree with the officiating

Only the players involved truly know whether or not a foul happened. Should get rid of refs and introduce call your own fouls. If you’re wrong about a foul call after the replay after the game, $50k fine.

Head ref should have to stay after all the team media and answer in front of the media just like players after the game. It's been inconsistent for a few years (maybe due to the better resolutions and camera angles).

Nba a business and refs just doing their job; which includes making horrendous calls. If they don't do their job they get fired. Be mad at the fact the Nba has put views and business ahead of creating the most fair and competitive league if anything.

There has been an NBA officiating problem for decades but especially now. Ben Taylor, Tom Workman, Scott Foster, and others have been totally unfair to the Warriors, Raptors and favorable to the Lakers and Kings. The refs clearly affected the Warriors losing about 15 games. Adam Silver administration doesn’t want the Warriors to have a top seeding for the playoffs. His refs are allowing other teams to intentionally try to injure Stephen Curry. That’s why I don’t watch many games anymore.

What makes me mad about this and other reports is that no one, and I mean no one, who works professionally in the sports world, can say the quiet part out loud. It is absolutely *not* a coincidence that ref quality has seemingly tanked in *most-if-not-all* American sports leagues at the same time that sports gambling became legal. And the reason no one can say it, the reason a report like this one hides away that one little, inconvenient truth in one sentence at the end of the video, is because gambling is one of the biggest sponsors in sports. Trying to investigate the obvious might give you a big story, but it could permanently freeze you from funding, not just from sports betting but also from non-endemic sponsors who, were gambling-related-corruption in sports to be revealed, might flee from sports advertising all together. Even the NBA (or the NFL, or MLB) can't say anything because they're a) sponsored by the gambling companies and b) desperate to avoid a scandal. The fact is that the NBA can run their "Two Minute Reports" all they want, but everyone who knows Basketball understands that officiating basketball is highly subjective, from the definition of "incidental" contact to the assessment of when dribbling stops and the final two steps after "gathering" the ball begins. This subjectivity is a totally acceptable part of the game, but it means that refs have a lot of room to affect outcomes. I'm not going to do the math here, but lets just say that the average margin of victory is well bellow the number of points teams score from free throws on average. The NBA has no incentive to replay games or to point out that officiating is bad, so in cases of subjective judgement, there's no way they are going to side against the refs, even if the call is blatantly incongruous with the rest of the game's officiating or blatantly tic-tac-y. So yeah, this is just a nothing-burger video. The fans are going to keep complaining. The athletes and coaches, who can't be sponsored by sport betting companies, will keep complaining. But nothing will be done about this until it gets so bad that laws are passed, or people stop watching, or an unavoidable scandal washes it all away.

Another easy solution that nobody is talking out, just have less games. How are refs going to communicate and train if they can't find a time to reconvene and clarify what is and isn't a foul. Its actually insane to imagine that they have any time to do this.

The ways to give this: Make referees give press conferences. Stop letting them wear headsets for VISUAL reviews. Makes zero sense.

The NBA and NFL refs like to call the tacky tac fouls, where no one has gained and advantage. In contrast to that, they won't call the obvious fouls that the person in the nose bleed seats can see. Further more, there is no consistency among these knuckle heads. If it is or isn't a foul in the first half of the game it should be the same in the second half of the game.
