That is *OUTSTANDING,* Andre! I am very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and resulting enjoyment, and keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom PS: By the way, if you've not already joined, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. I just now found your page, and I started a few months back and this is the exact approach I took to golf. “Why the hell are we doing all that extra movement?” I am already playing better than my friends who have played for way longer, bc I simplify it. “Weight on front, shoulder pointing at ball, and just rotate and let the clubs do the work

It really can be that simplified to the extent that you are saying. Think about it - if we are going to build a low-maintenance, consistent, powerful ball striking machine, then wouldn't we want to eliminate all unnecessary variables as well as the need to micromanage multiple moving parts that require precise timing? That is exactly what you are doing, and your frustrated friends would do well to learn from the "newbee"....😎 Welcome to SagutoGolf - I'm very glad to have you onboard! A lot of single plane, Mo Norman, in the set up and swing. 😊
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
While the system I teach shares a one plane feature, Tim, it is definitely different from the "single plane" version patterned after Mr. Norman's swing. For example, the straight-line relationship of the arms and club shaft from the DTL view is a trademark of Mr. Norman's setup that one will not typically find in my instruction. However, there are also some definite shared features - particularly with regard to the very centered, connected, weight-forward nature of both methods. What I teach is a complete golf swing system based on data from the best golf ball strikers - and Moe Norman would certainly be included among them. It was determined from this study of these ball striking legends that they all had 3 things in common (the 3 main golf fundamentals): 1. Hit the ground in the same spot every time (consistent crispy contact) 2. Have enough length to play the golf course well (power) 3. Be able to have a predictable curve (accuracy). A player MUST be able to do those 3 things to be good at golf, and Mr. Norman certainly did! Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? Coming from baseball, I had a single swing plane immediately, never had a real over the top move, but could not get consistent at ball striking for the life of me. Chunks, thins, hooks and slices just depended on the day. Little did I know all I had to do was open the face at address and close it at impact, now it’s beautiful draws all day. when you lean the shaft forward at address, should the clubface be a little open?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
The face is open a degree or two to the target line at address. Consider that the zero-point of the swing is even with the lead shoulder/armpit from a face-on view. The face would be square to the target there, but since the ball position is behind that spot, without any contrived manipulations this causes the face to be ever so slightly open to the target line. This relationship - face open to the target and closed to the in-to-out downswing path - is how we achieve the stock push-draw ball flight of this swing system. I had some really good results at first with your instruction, then hit a slump. It was frustrating but I also wasn't practicing really, just hoping it would soak in during my not very frequent rounds (maybe 27 to 45 holes a week.) Well, guess what? It is soaking in pretty well. This weekend I posted up my two best rounds of the year and it felt pretty easy actually. And a little scary. Today I parred the hardest hole on the course too, and was only 2-over on the other two hardest holes. Usually I can count on being 6+ over on just those three holes. Driver is working much better now, and when I stripe my irons my golf buddies look at me funny. Like "Who are you?"

Do you grip the club after leaning the shaft forward ?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Месяц назад
No. I grip the club with the face square to the target at the "zero point", which is even with my lead shoulder. I then set my hands in their stock position - even with the inside of the lead thigh, and simply place the clubface behind the ball without any manipulations. If the ball position is behind the hands - as it typically is - then this will result in the face naturally opening a slight amount without any twisting or turning of the hands, thereby setting me up for a powerful push-draw ball flight. Tom, I’m somewhat bow legged so flaring the feet out distresses my left (lead) knee during backswing rotation. I’m trying workarounds like lifting my left heel in backswing to allow pivot on the ball of my foot without stressing the knee, keeping left foot straight and flaring right (tail) foot, etc. Feel like I’m close to a happy medium, with a small price tag on consistency, but curious if you have a recommendation for this?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
Well, I cannot feel what you feel in terms of that discomfort, so it's quite difficult for me to make any suggestions in that regard. If, as a result of your bow legged condition, your lead knee is naturally flared out a bit toward the target at address - and if it can flex and straighten in that orientation without placing any stress on the joint - then that may be sufficient and as such I wouldn't concern myself with flaring that foot. As for the trail foot/knee, this system prescribes flaring those outward as well to facilitate a restriction-free inclined hip turn. If you can do that without discomfort, then I think you have found a sufficient happy medium. I hope that helps! @@SagutoGolf Yes sir, you're 100% correct on your assumptions. The left lead knee is distressed with the foot flare, so I've started keeping it straight. Coincidentally I started flaring the right foot more and more at the range yesterday and found it easily accommodates the opening of the hips, just as you said. Lots of work to do before I settle in with the right structure... but last night I played in our weekly scramble at the course and contributed WAY more shots than usual. The team was shocked that their 'D Player' was sticking so many shots. Visited the site yesterday and will be signing up for a Saguto Golf subscription, less than a Netflix subscription and based on the progress I've made from your free content, I can't imagine what the whole course will do for my game. after setting the weight forward .. are you still shifting your weight to the back leg on the backswing ?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
Nope. The notion of a “weight” shift in the golf swing has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. In fact, here is Jack Nicklaus on weight shift: "I don't believe in a lateral shift," says Nicklaus. "Of course not. I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play." Now, there is certainly an allowance for a transfer of “pressure” into the trail side. After all, we are moving the mass of the arms and club back and around us during the takeaway and backswing. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our mass - and thus our swing center and low point - to drift back at any point. In the swing I teach we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs), gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful motion. While there are certainly plenty of videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

Hey Tom, I’ve been employing this swing method for quite a bit. Only issue I have is 1. My left leg tends to straighten out too much. Should I keep that trail leg slightly loaded? Not bent but just slightly loaded. I see even your video you still drop down into the swing.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
Hi Barry, The flexing/straightening of the legs occurs gradually and in response to the increasing forward weight load and various components of a properly executed motion. They are not contrived actions unto themselves. We're simply allowing them to be reactive, thereby freeing up the hips and shoulders to execute an unrestricted turn back and through. I want to copy ur stance but having flared trailfoot makes it really hard for me to turn my hips enough before impact. Would just a ”straight” trailfoot and flared lead foot fix this? It feels a lot easier for me to turn enough with my hips then.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
The outward flaring of both feet 10-20 degrees in our setup facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through. This is a major power source, and it also keeps the club traveling on the correct path. If you were to square your feet so that they were perpendicular to the target line, then your hips would be impeded from turning sufficiently in the backswing (which would then inhibit the shoulders from executing a full and effortless turn), and from releasing properly in the downswing to propel the club through the zone. Restricting this action can cause a variety of path issues and/or also place strain on the lower back, lead knee, and the hip joints as the hips will "want" to move laterally and turn through into the finish but will be fighting the body in the process. As for wanting to turn those hips, be cautious with that notion. When properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. When prematurely rotated, all bets are off. For example, the lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor on the rotational component, thereby enabling the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player, put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while - and this is key - the head and thus the swing center remains in place..) This will occur naturally if we allow it to, but unfortunately the misguided "fire the hips" notion has plagued so many amateurs with an early-onset spinout that makes them steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. For them, the "feel" of the shoulders leading will help them to overcome this, correctly engage their hips, and fix their path, thereby leading them to a solid, "crispy" impact condition. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

Where do you play ball in relation to left foot?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
Hi Robert, When viewing these videos we first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective on ball position. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. (By the way, I strongly suggest using alignment sticks when monitoring ball position - one on the foot line, a second one parallel to the first to mark the target line, and a third perpendicular to these to show ball position - as our side-on view from above tends to skew our perspective of the actual location of the ball relative to our stance.) As for hand position, it remains consistent - even with the inside of your lead thigh - no matter which club you are hitting. Additionally, the lead arm and club shaft should form a straight line from the face-on view, giving your setup a lowercase "y" look.

I’m not 100% sure but I think he means tilting forward a little bit and keeping that tilt throughout the swing
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
To correctly set ourselves for this, Chris, we address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs). We then gradually experience more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. The result is a centered, stress-free, flowing motion back and through, and a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing. Do you have a video on how you set up your feet?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
Here are some setup keys for the swing system I teach: We should feel evenly balanced between heel and toe in both feet. This balance is achieved by first setting our knees over the toes (or at least over the toe end of our shoelaces) to activate the ground connection, and then pushing our butt out to incline the hips and chest so that a relationship with the ball is established. The arms hang down naturally from the shoulders with all clubs except the driver, for which we push them out an inch or so to encourage more of the around-the-body motion needed for that lengthy shaft. We address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship. Both feet are flared outward approximately 10-20 degrees, with the knees similarly angled outward. This orientation facilitates a stress-free, flowing motion back and through, resulting in a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the structured learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

I went through the same applying this stuff. It’s something in your setup or swing that you probably don’t realize you’re doing… video yourself. Move ball back or forward in your stance, check that you’re cocking shoulders (as in this video), keeping left arm straight/arms close together, weight on left foot, etc. Videoing 1 range session showed me some of the easy stuff I didn’t even realize I wasn’t executing. Fix the one or two things on next range trip and it’s like “WHOA”….
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад
Hi Mark, There are just too many potential variables and unknowns for me to make an accurate diagnosis regarding your hook tendencies without actually seeing your swing. For example, if your path was previously too steep and you were making compensations to prevent the ball from slicing off the planet - perhaps a very strong grip or setting up with a closed face - then those compensations could certainly result in a hook if you have successfully corrected your path. Other things to consider are your ball position is too far forward, your hands are too far back, your weight is not forward enough at impact, more..... If it was only that easy…

Golf is indeed a very difficult sport. But if we can simplify the swing so as not to rely on timing and/or exceptional hand-eye coordination - and we can - then we will be able to achieve consistently great results without having to continuously work so hard. So we put in the time and effort on the front end to build the swing - preferably through a step by step, position by position learning platform such as the SagutoGolf online school - and then we can enjoy low maintenance, powerful, predictable, body-friendly ball striking bliss for the rest of our lives! For a really good starting point, here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker": go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

You wanna hit with power , you got use your hips , it's all in hips
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 месяца назад

@@SagutoGolf bro I was teasing. The last thing I’d actually want to do is make anyone feel bad. I apologize. I thought it’d come off differently, not sure why but that’s my bad. I think it was a bad day and you heard about it instead of ne dealing w it. Pretty weak shit. Hope you really don’t care
