Our final week in Ireland sees us ramp up our Irish immersion.
We are Tom and Iz - a couple from Cornwall who decided to hit the road and embrace a new way of life, living and exploring in our tiny home on wheels, La Bamba. We invite you along with us on our recent escapades in our weekly vlogs. We love to embrace adventure and soak up nature every day. We're currently traveling around Ireland in our transit van and have just finished the Wild Atlantic Way and are now making our journey towards Rosslare, exploring along the way. Ireland has really stolen our hearts; come along with us on this week's episode where we say a St. Patrick's Day farewell and get on a ferry back to the UK. If you've missed our travels so far - check out our previous episodes, we upload weekly on a Sunday at 5pm :)
We start this episode on St. Patrick's Day in Waterford. Excited to see what festivities are coming our way we make our way into the very pleasant city of Waterford. Here we feel the energy start to build as the start of the parade approaches. We fuel up with coffees before deciding enough of the day had passed to make it acceptable to head into a pub. We quickly make friends with the people on the table next to us and the Guinness begins to flow. From the vantage point of the pub we watch Irish dancing and the parade begins. The rest of that day becomes a blur as we meet more people and become more inebriated. Fortunately for both us and you the mic on the camera stops recording, and so our exploits of this wild night will be left to the imagination.
The next day we wake to bad headaches, but we have booked tickets to see a live band at Kilkenny Tradfest, so we hit the road. We are treated to music by John and Pip Murphy followed by Aoife Scott. We find a spot that sells Thai Green Curry and then call it a night.
The next day we wake to glorious sun shine and decide to explore a bit of Kilkenny. We climb the ancient round tower at St Canice Cathedral (the oldest building in Kilkenny), We then head along the Parade where food stalls have been erected. We relax in the sun in the gardens of Kilkenny Castle before heading into a pub to enjoy a day of Rugby as the Six Nations reaches its climax and Ireland miss out on victory.
The next day we head to the hurling to see a match between Kilkenny and Waterford. Kilkenny take victory and that evening we go to another concert to watch Mairtin O'Connor, Cathal Hayden & Seamie O'Dowd.
The next day we return to the south coast to finish our journey! We drive along the Coast of Wexford, stopping at a few spots along the way and discovering lots of sites related to Ireland's Anglo-Norman invasion. We eventually arrive into Rosslare, where we will be taking our ferry out of Ireland. We board the ship and find ourselves reflecting on all we have done over the past four months on this island.
Thank you all so much for watching, we have had the best time exploring this beautiful part of the world and it has been made even more special knowing we are bringing so many people along with us.
All the best guys,
Till next week (when we will be exploring Pembrokeshire, Wales)
