Good to see Klask get some well-deserved attention! There is a 4-player (circular) version however I'd still stick to the standard 2-player version with more than two players - matches are over quickly, it's fun for spectators (not a normal thing for typical 2-player games!) and a 'winner stays on' flow works well.

Klask is a great game I ran a tournament with my family had 16 players double elimination and they had never played before, not only did I not win, I got 6'1'd and 6'2 (lower bracket was best of 3) def a game you can pick up and play competitively with just basic understanding of air hockey.

27:44 As an Indian with a carrom board set up downstairs right now (my mother and aunt played in tournaments when they were young)... I'm not at all surprised that the lack of toxic chemicals is mentioned as a selling point. It is a real problem with the stuff. I've known people who got sick from inhaling too much carrom powder. That said, it's harmless if used in small quantities. Just do _not_ let it get anywhere near your eyes.

I use Shuffleboard powder for Crokinole, & Carrom, it's a non toxic mix of silicone beads with dry cornmeal. Love Klask too but the boards wear out and get friction patches (on my second), waxing helps but not perfect. Crokinole is the one that gets played most.

Rod Hockey was actually the grandson of the creator of the sport, Abraham Hockey.
@primusinterpares5767
@primusinterpares5767 2 года назад
It was actually invented by Rodney Hockey, hence the name
@VictorDiGiovanni
@VictorDiGiovanni 2 года назад
@@primusinterpares5767 You are correct that Rodney created the home version we know today, but it was his grandfather Abraham who created the actual sport that was later illegally co-opted by the NHL. Maybe not "illegally", since it was before we have the current laws for copyright infringement. But the original sport was created by Abraham Hockey in Blind River, Ontario as a way for his many children (more than a dozen) to stay active during the cold winters. A French-Canadian businessman traveling through Blind River had a flat tire in front of the Hockey's home, and while he waited for a couple of the Hockey boys to change his tire, he saw this wild game being played on the frozen pond in the Hockey back yard. He asked a whole bunch of questions about the game they were playing and Abraham was happy to oblige. Three years later the first "official" game of hockey was played in Montreal. Abraham tried to prevent the NHL from using his idea, but was ignored. He tried to start his own league in Ontario, but that went nowhere. Ultimately, the only money the family made on the game they created was from rod hockey. The family had a little bit of success, but Rodney panicked, and sold the patent to the game to Munro in 1964 for only $50,000. After that, the game exploded into what it is today and Rodney died basically penniless.

And the arcades these days often have crappy small tables with plastic surfaces. There's an arcade called Funspot in New Hampshire, US. They have the same three huge air hockey tables with a metal surface that I used to play on as a teenager...in the 80s. We make an annual pilgrimage to the tables where I remained undefeated for decades...until my own son beat me. I was never more proud of him or more angry at him.

I saw the title and I went KLASSSSK !!! :D When I was young I loved air hockey I could do it for hours! ... But that was expensive, and even those tables in arcades weren't always that good. So Klask really got my attention, but since then i have a slight disability at my dominant hand. Nothing major but flicking in crockinole isn't easy for me. With Klask I have none of those problems! I can be pretty damm good at it, and even my father who has some issues with his shoulder and neck can play it easily because you rest elbow on the table. It may be something small but this is the only dexterity game that works for both of us, and it's just so much fun to play. So definitly don't let this scare you off, even if all other dexterity game aren't for you because of trembles or motoric issues you'll probably be able to play klask :)

Oh buddy, let me tell you about those Klask 2.0 biscuits with the rounded corners. They are so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking them up. Can't move the biscuits alone with the striker either, against the rules sadly. They hate fun over there. Snooker is basically just the English version of pool/billiards. That is to say: pool, if your pool table were to be the size of an aircraft carrier, the holes around three millimetres larger than the balls, the rules full of weird esoteric touches, and it being impossible to play if you weren't in possession of a dinner-jacketed butler with white gloves and a little cloth to polish and replace the upper-class balls in their pre-ordained spots if they're potted before all the pleb balls have gone.

Great video! I wish I still had al the dexterity games from my youth. I had a Ninja Turtles Rod Hockey that was a blast, but the puck would get stuck in the corners and become unreachable. It was also really easy to take the figures off their pegs to store it. Sadly, after a while this meant that a hard spin may send Donatello careening at the goal instead of the puck. I also had a Carrom board hat claimed to be 25 games in one or something, but didn't have great instructions for any of them. I didn't even know it was a carrom board until much later in life. Still, lots of fun flicking disks was had! I will agree that Klask is tremendous fun. I only played my nephew's copy, but it was immediately enjoyable.

I think there was an all natural MESPI powder for Crokinole. I don't know, I'm still on my original bottle of MESPI powder from like ten years ago. It's basically ground glass. Could be irritating in the eyes and lungs if you got a lot of it. But theoretically won't cause long term harm.
