Thank you all for watching this video... let me be clear. This video is not saying Costco is doing something wrong. It's the public buying these coins that needs the knowledge. As long as Costco doesn't list them as W Mint marked eagles, then it is up to buyers to know. Your video did a great job explaining the difference. Well done sir.

I’m totally confused with what others are posting about the ASEs with a mint mark and assuming that they could be fake. Yes for me for the longest time I was so confused about these bullion coins in different minted types that most don’t consider them as collectible.

But you said "I stated" This video was not about Fake ASE's or anything from China.. This video was all about real coins but the difference between coins with and without a W (West Point) Mint Mark.. Yes there are fake ASE's from China but none of them are in this video... What are you confused about?

Not so fast, ASEs can be confusing to most but the coin you are referring to is probably a burnished ASE with a mint mark.

Sorry, but American currency can only be minted in the US. If it was from China, it would be counterfeit and the fines and prison time are awful - 20 years in prison with a $250,000 fine.

In 2006 the US minted started minting circulated silver eagle dollars with the W mint mark, for me since I collect PCGS slab silver dollars it became so mush easier for me to understand the different types and mints that the ASEs are produced. They can be found with a SP grade, MS grade, PR grade, PR DCAM grade and of course no mint mark as in ASE bullion and don’t forget about the certified bullion coins can have another reference point and that is STRUCK IN OR AT a another mint.

Super valuable lesson on the American Eagle coin 🪙 ! I learned a wealth of knowledge in this viedo. 💯 I picked up a few of the 2024 # A.S.E. with the A.w. initials. I certainly thought that was something special I had with the " W " - my Westport ! Nope ! 💯 the designer deserves his credit. Thx. For the 411# silver wolverine. I have a lot to learn still in the stacking world 🌎 for thos noob stacker/ collector.

Definitely good information to be aware of for anyone considering buying eagles. Great video sir. I do have an eagles base stack goal that id like to reach but with these crazy premiums im not sure if i should just stack the green for bigger purchases later on when the premiums coms back down like they did from 2 years ago, or if i should be getting whatever i can whenever i can. On a different note, AW sure did make some beautiful designs. I miss the heraldic Eagle though

It’s likely the initials of the artist of the new type 2 reverse and then also the engraver’s initials.

@@SilverHeist That makes sense. Liberty's artist's initials are on the other side and this eagle is a new one. Even using a loop the initials are so tiny. Thanks!

You are giving yourself away because no one young fellow of any intelligence would buy silver from China let alone brag about it so either you are buying and have a measurable amount of silver and don't want anyone to know are you truly are not that smart either way if you don't have some real silver you need to get some because our Country is in deep crap because of those in high places are bringing it down without a remedy. Wolvie I am Sure glad you cleared that up . On my ASE , I also got more Silver on my ASE . They did not have that missing reed . To make sure I don't Confuse any one . I am Joking about the Missing Reed . If any Type 2 ASE Does not have the missing REED . It is Fake .Type 2 started in 2021 :-))

Costco is not misusing anything. The troubling part is "people" thinking there is a W mint mark on these coins.. I tried to explain this at the start of the video... The reason for this video.

Hey Silver Wolverine. Type 1 American Silver Eagles DO have his initials on them. It's on the bottom of the dress edge just in front of the back foot. FYI

Your title makes it seem that there’s something very wrong with the coins Costco (and others) are selling. Costco doesn’t tout the 2024 American Silver Eagles as either proofs or collectibles, nor do they state that they’re a Type2 design. So, what’s the downside being that they have the AW on the obverse side. It’s good that you explained the differences, but I’m assuming that there is nothing wrong with the Costco coins other than it might be of lesser value as a Type2 coin going forward, if that proves out to be true.

The title only allows a limited amount of characters. There is nothing wrong with the Costco coins IMO. I explained the reason for the title in the video.. it was based on a comment on one of my videos.. I think it's important to know what the AW is on the Silver Eagles... Thank you for watching
