He's never sounded cool but his crowning achievement was when he said to Askren something about "being up here with all your favorite fighters" at a press conference and it was actually pretty good despite the fact that he has said nothing memorable since.
"I was winning the whole fight and got put in a last second triangle."...(ok chael's gonna mention the Silva fight now same situation.......)...So i'm in a fight with a guy named babballoo……..classic chael
I’m sure Masvidal said it was submission of the decade, and Gamebred didn’t tap out... if I remember correctly, he carried the fighter on his back until he collapsed unconscious.
Oh on explaining Usman's comment: He's attempting to highlight the feel of shame of defeat. Implicating that he will make masvidal so shameful in his defeat that he wouldn't want to look at a past accolade that reminds him of when he had a chance. Usman's deliveries are often plagued with awkwardness that I hope one day soon he'll get some PR training for to help smooth out his media presence.
@@theshape3988 actually it was the lower jaw, neck. according to him and the doctors. hence, no concussion diagnosed and released from the hospital in one hour.
At 1:30 he says tapping out lol but Masvidal definitely lost consciousness and got dropped on his head, there was no tap out. That was one of the nastiest submissions I've ever seen, it was violent like a knockout almost.
Yeah i can't picture Jorge tapping. Tony Ferguson was also choked early in his career and didn't tap. There's a limit to toughness tho. In chokes you just go to sleep but there's no sense to not tap if your arm or leg is about to get injured.
Instead of a win bonus it should be a no decision performance bonus. Give it two criteria. 1) that the results of the fight don't go to the judges. 2) the fight is a crowd pleaser or shows pretty clear aggressive choices of the fighters to engage.
He didn’t tap he went out cold. I’d know because I used to spam him with it like haters do with askren. But then I grew up and stopped and appreciated the craft
Fair play for owning up to being a prick. Doesn’t make you less of a prick that you’ve changed from Jorge to Jon though. Why don’t you go and train or something to make yourself feel better, instead of trying to belittle the most successful fighters on the planet
Came to find this comment. I swear he does this stuff on purpose it used to be cute but it's kinda getting old with not using what actually happened with me personally.
Chael so what he was saying about throwing the BMF belt away in the closet, that just means Jorge has been showing off the belt so much that leaving it in the closet just so he doesn't keep obsessing over it but the thing about Kurt Angle is when he won that gold medal with a broken neck and did know if he would make it through the night let alone to the hospital.
It does bring an interesting question. Should you try take downs when fighters are fresh? Even giving a striker a mediocre scramble against a wrestler how much better does the wrestler need to be in order to take down someone and keep them down that knows basics and is fresh? Is it worth the effort of attempting those takedowns early or do you bank on higher endurance and that those mediocre scrambles Will be less effective if you draw the fight out more before attempting to take downs? I don't have an answer for this already so this is an honest question.
This is just my opinion but if you're using good setups for your takedowns absolutely if you're a better wrestler. I don't feel like giving a super long explanation as to why as of the moment but it you respond in an hour or so I will
Chael, Have you ever read Freakonomics? There is a very fascinating bit in that book about incentives you would enjoy. Involves Christmas Turkeys of all things.
I looked up that submission after hearing Jorge tell Chael the story, and it was pretty crazy. Jorge was bent over at the hips, torso horizontal with the guy on his back, shins around Jorge's neck and with his face practically in Jorge's ass. Jorge never tapped, after a minute his legs buckled and by the time he hit the ground he was limp as a wet noodle. Can't remember the guy's name now but defs worth looking up.
Surprised when comparing masvidal submission chael didn’t bring up the Anderson fight when he was dominating and Silva got him in a bad situation and made him tap
Yeah but the difference is that was just a fluke because Chael thought tapping would just end the round. No one told him it would end the fight. Chael would have won if not for that technicality.
Win bonus may not be the best incentive for good fights, but what's the alternative? 5 round non title fights is a far worse problem in the UFC. Can't believe Dana hasn't figured that out yet.
Dont get it twisted. Uncle chael does these white board videos to showcase his tremendous biceps. Look at that vein poppin. Biggest guns in west linn, oregon
Chael, I just heard usman is upset that masvidal is getting all the media buzz at fight week. Jorge was right if you go back and look at what he said about the B-side a few weeks ago. Mosvidal generates alot of social hits.
But Chael, when is a bonus in any other realm of life equal to the original agreed upon payment? Companies don't handout bonuses at the end of the year equal to most employees salaries because of how they performed. I love win bonuses but they SHOULD NOT BE 50/50. Give someone 30 percent more guaranteed and like 20 percent of the guarantee for a win bonus. WHAT MORE INCENTIVE DO YOU NEED WHEN YOUR LIFE IS ON THE LINE? And your next fight depends on a win as well.
The five second knockout was a crazy one for sure, but let's not try to say it took more than practice and a lot of luck to actually pull it off. Nothing about that says you're tough.
Yeah masvidal fasho didn't say all that I love askren shit lmao all he did was laugh and tell his moment of getting caught. Chael so into telling stories he makes some parts up 😂
The win bonus is fair. You sign a contract and have a chance to make even double if you win. It's not like they would eliminate win bonuses and fighters would be paid the whole show/win as their fight salary. (as dumb dumb fighters expect) If any fighter makes 40/40 he won't make a flat 80. They'd make a flat 60 tops and the fighters won't like that because one of them is expecting to win.
You should get rewarded for winning. It’ll be different if you somehow was getting penalized for losing but you don’t. You make a base pay and make more for winning
Wait...what, they're literally friends now? Last thing I heard Mas say on the matter is that he probably wouldn't jump him anymore if he sees him at Whole Foods.
it'not the win bonus that's unfair it's the guarantee salary between winning and losing that's unfair. A guy makes 50 if he loses but a hundred if he wins. Now that's bs. especially when going the distance...
